Everything is beautiful, the room, the property, the farm. They are SO kind and the farm fresh food is AMAZING. The whole town is adorable. It is so close to Pilot Mountain State Park so we went over and took a hike.
On a whim my mother and I chose this quaint B&B and we're glad we did. We arrived on a misty, chilly afternoon and Todd greeted us at the front door. He showed us around and gave a little background of the place. We settled in and left shortly for Jolo Winery for dinner just down the road. There were 2 other couples that stayed overnight, and when we all gathered for breakfast the next day Todd took great care in explaining each dish that was served. His family focuses on organic foods and tries to use only local sources when purchasing cheeses, meats and such. When everyone else left to pack upstairs, Todd stayed with my mother and I and shared more about their mission and hope that the farm and business will continue to prosper for years to come. Would recommend this place for anyone looking for a quiet and gentle atmosphere.…
This B&B has a lot to offer. From the incredible views of Pilot Mountain to the pastoral surrounding farms, the inn is a combination of farm and luxury. The beds are comfortable and elegant, the rooms are spacious with lots of light and scenery. The food is fine dining with wholesome ingredients and perfect portions. We were able to use the location as a base for hiking, sightseeing, and enjoying the area. I highly recommend visiting if you are in the area and looking for peaceful but upscale accomodations.
I haven't had much experience with a B&B having only stayed at one other, but this one has set the bar very high. The location is gorgeous and so peaceful, and the owners are very friendly. I can't even say enough about how good the breakfasts were with so much of what was fixed coming from their own working farm. Chef Todd knows how to make the food way beyond ordinary. I would definitely stay here again.
A Mighty Oak is the nicest B&B we have ever enjoyed. From the warm welcome upon arrival to the warm home made muffins served at our departure breakfast - everything was just right. It is a very relaxing home in a wonderful location with a lot of places to explore, hike, shop (primarily in Mt Airy) or enjoy a good book. We will be back and highly recommend A Mighty Oak ... it is first class without a bit of stuffiness!
This was our first experience with a B&B and simply put, it was the best experience from initially obtaining reservations to when we checked out after our 3 day stay. We celebrated our 51st wedding anniversary and Todd and Lisa, the owners certainly made us feel special. They provided a home like environment with all the comforts of home but much more relaxing because we did nothing :-). My favorite time was sitting on the porch in the early morning, having coffee and looking at the Blue Ridge and Pilot mountains in the back. Our room was exceptionally clean, bed and pillows were very comfortable. There is a community "living room" with refreshments, TV, reading and relaxation. We were served a gourmet breakfast each morning and it was exceptionally delicious. Honestly, the best healthy eating I know we have ever done and we were not hungry until dinner time around 6pm. There are many activities you can do around this area but for me, the best was just hanging out on the porch and enjoying the peaceful views of just being in the countryside. We can not thank Lisa and Todd enough for making our time so special!!!…
Absolutely an amazing Bed and Breakfast! Todd made us feel at home and he and is wife provided us with probably the best breakfast I have ever had at a Bed and Breakfast! The location is perfect for visiting area wineries and restaurants. The accommodations at the house and the farm is enough reasons to stay at this Bed and Breakfast! We will definitely be going back!
This is more than a B&B. A Mighty Oak is a state of mind. My wife and I love the stately aura of rich historical design in a completely modern structure. I mean, we didn’t hear one squeak in any floorboard! Talkin’ rustic and solid – a wonderful combination. This Inn has impeccable cleanliness and tasteful decor of every room. We came with another couple who are regular guests at B&B’s all over the USA. They were decisively impressed. We came for the nearby Yadkin Valley wineries but found simply hanging out at A Mighty Oak to be quite pleasant. We sat on rocking chairs on the 2nd floor covered porch as we read or just talked as the stars emerged in the sky. Then we ascended to the 3rd floor for games (ping-pong, board games, TV sports) and reviewed the substantial bookcase. Of course, a huge facet of any B&B is the proprietor. We all recognize a passion for excellence when we experience one. It’s there in spades with Todd, showing up in attentiveness to our needs and a pleasant, playful grace about him and his wife Lisa. And we saw his excellence in that 2nd “B” in B&B. We’re talking as close to farm-to-table as it gets since the B&B’s rear acreage is home to cows, chicken and plants. And, uh FYI, no smell in the air. Match freshness with culinary excellence and you’ve got an Rx for memorable breakfasts. I mean, I had never had a Scottish Egg and can’t wait to see what Todd has up his sleeve next time! A passion for excellence shows up in every aspect of a business, but when it’s a B&B, it can become quite special since they’re sort of personal – I mean one actually lives there albeit for one or two nights. A Mighty Oak is indeed one very special place. We will definitely return for our Mighty Oak state-of-mind fix!!…
Home, hospitality, and food - all outstanding. Todd and Lisa made us feel like family, but treated us like royalty! They have thought of everything in making preparation for their guests, are available without being intrusive, and deightful to visit with if you have the opportunity. Their home is as beautiful as the surrounding countryside, and the breakfasts they served far surpassed expectations! I loved sitting out on the large balcony (accessible form all rooms) and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. We had come for a family wedding nearby, but A Mighty Oak is worth a vacation in itself, even if you have no event to draw you.
From the moment we were greeted by Todd and Lisa we knew this was going to be an unforgettable experience. The rooms are beautifully decorated with charm and grace. Todd and Lisa’s farm is a lesson to all of us in how we should live and eat. Guests are invited to walk the grounds and meet all the animals who live in harmony with nature. Todd and Lisa are a wealth of knowledge when it comes to food—they know nutrition and its importance, and Todd prepared for us a 3 course breakfast that was equivalent to a 5 star restaurant (in our opinion). We really hated to leave, but we surely plan to return to this unforgettable B&B.
