We were put in an unrenovated room, chased a roach like critter, windows appeared to have black mold and the floor unleveled. After mentioned to front desk they said we should’ve requested a renovated room.

We lived at the Jack Nicklaus lodge here on the property, wow. The comfort of the rooms, the comfort of the house setting, fun. The food package was purchased, where we had breakfast every day there in the grand property. The use of the transportation to and from our golf and or meal off property was magnificent.

We thoroughly enjoyed our two nights in early December, attending annual dinner parties for a large social gathering. The service was very responsive and friendly, our room was comfortable. We enjoyed walking around the common areas, decorated for the holiday season, as well as walking around the village. There are many areas of the hotel under renovation, and they are doing a great job managing around that so that it does not detract from the overall experience.

Be aware before you book your VRBO or AirBNB - Unless you book your package through the resort you can only play #1, #3, #5 or The Cradle. You have to book a lodging/golf package through the resort to play #2 #4 #6 7, 8 9. This is a change over the last few years. And you can only book 1, 3, 5, or Cradle one day in advance. I played #3 as the reviews said it is a mini #2 or a big Cradle. Maybe, but it definitely does not get the love of maintenance as the other courses. Greens were good, fairways were OK, tees were pretty ragged. Play Pine Needles.

Old and very noisy with outdated everything but the price. Do it once to play #2 or #4; otherwise, save your time and money. Most of the staff seem uninspired. Breakfast buffet was impressive looking….but every item that should have been hot was not. The golf courses, while renowned, are packed with loud and somewhat drunk slow golfers. 5 and 1/2 hours is torture. A better Pinehurst experience is to stay in a VRBO and play MidPines, Pine Needles and MidSouth. Pinehurst Resort is in a position where they can do whatever they want; it’s either put up or shut up to be a guest. At nearly $3000 for 3 days of golf and 2 nights is “I’ll do this once” experience.

Interesting grand old hotel. Everything thing about it is first rate except the rooms which are really nothing special at all ( large enough, clean but pretty spartan for the amount you are paying). Staff is excellent and very professional and the breakfast buffet is something not to miss. Excellent place to stay if you are playing golf at Pinehurst or any of the surrounding courses. Shuttle takes you pretty much anywhere you want to go in the area. The historical photos that line the main floor hallways are something special and a museum to themselves.

We have been bringing a very large group here for over 20 years. Service has declined, which is understandable after pandemic but did miss many of the familiar faces that used to add such a warm personal touch for the resort. New management raising cost of rooms going forward to $600 a night. Inconsistency with getting a hot shower, inedible group dinners at over $100 per plate, poor service at outside bar…. Sad to say goodbye after many past positive memories. Positive attributes continue to be golfing facilities and several newly renovated rooms.

This was a very nice hotel that was being updated/renovated for the US Open in a couple years. The lobby area was closed and the temporary check in entrance was hard to find, it was all the way on the left right of the building. The staff were all masked (which I really appreciated) and everyone kept their distance. The room was very nice and the beds were comfortable. The soaps and shampoo were all perfumed and we are sensitive to perfumes so that was a bit of a problem - need to remember to bring our own soap and shampoo when we travel. A great bonus was having Keurig coffee maker in our room. They offered different dining options in the hotel and free transportation to the golf courses.

The Pinehurst golf course lived up to the hype. It was well kept, challenging, and stunning in the hills of Carolina. The hotel was also beautiful, very nostalgic, unfortunately they were doing a lot of renovations with the villas and the front so it was a bit ugly and messy. Now that I've talked about the good we can get to the BAD. The food was TERRIBLE, honestly one of the worst filets I've ever had the meat was incredibly low quality, they over cooked the steak, and it tasted like the chef took the lid off the salt and pepper container and dumped it on the steak. The salads were mediocre at best, the only highlight of the Carolina room dinner menu was the arancini which the staff never even recommended. Additionally Pinehurst was not transparent at all with the upcharges, $50 to play a 9 hole par 3 course that barely exceeded 100 yards on one to two holes max?! What a rip off you can't even play it enjoyably because some groups have 8+ people and its turns into a 2 hour round. Additionally, if you ask for your bill they won't tell you that there is an upcharge for playing course No. 2, so very quickly my bill was an extra $250 from what I was expecting. If you love the game of golf you will probably enjoy and won't mind the upcharge and god awful food, but if you are a casual player I would avoid or make sure they lay out all the costs for you up front and AVOID the Carolina room for dinner.

For one of the most elegant dining rooms in the area, I was a bit disappointed. No sparkling water on tap. We were told the machine was not working. The evening prior we were at the casual dining restaurant just steps away from the formal dining and they had seltzer water on tap. ( but they did not have a working blender). So we told the waiter that the casual dining area had seltzer on tap and he asked us if we wanted him to go there to get it. Hmmmm.. we answered “yes, thank you”. The server was very serious, not very friendly. We were the ones that attempted to break the ice The lobster tail for $54 was a bit small. The other good items were excellent. The Veal Oscar was very very good. It was obvious that the serving staff was not fully staffed as they should.
