Detailed Reviews
The owners could not have been more accommodating and helpful during my stay. My room was tastefully done with all the amenities anybody could want, golf carts are rented on site, boat dockage with fine dock water outlets directly adjoining the property, and an excellent continental breakfast available each morning. On top of all that, the location is thankfully removed from the hubbub of the ferry docks and surrounding areas and offers terrific views over the harbor. I’d stay here again anytime! The best!!

This is high praise indeed...we are humbled and grateful... THANK YOU for the outstanding review. It was delightful meeting you, and hearing your tales of traveling the world, and navigating "the Great Loop" multiple times....and it's crazy, wonderful that you chose Ocracoke as a stop on your third trip around the Loop! We are incredibly fortunate that we live in a place that attracts such interesting people. We're also thrilled that you enjoyed your stay with us, and on the island; we hope you'll visit us again some day. In the meantime, we look forward to reading all of your books about your nautical adventures...

My wife, and I truly enjoyed our two day stay at the Ocracoke Island Resort. Our room was very clean, private, and the staff was profesional, sincere, and accommodating. During our short stay; though the end results of a tropical storm, as well as, the challenges of the quarantine, we were still able to find many things open. Restutants/pubs/grocery stores and various shops. One of our excursions was to a private beach. Fantastic/clean beach, and only about two dozen persons, as far as the eyes could see. The other spectacular event was the free (1 hr) ferry ride ( with car) to Cape Hateras Island. It was a sunny day, and by chance found a local restaurant opened that served fresh grilled Mahi Mahi for $12.95. If I were a person who took trips, and rated this adventure, it would a YES.

These have indeed been challenging times....what a long, strange spring we've had. Thank you for your patience and perseverance...we deeply appreciate all of our guests, who braved the weather and the quarantine to come visit us. The island had been closed for 8 months since Hurricane Dorian, and we were so very ready to have visitors. The beach has remained the same, undeveloped, unspoiled, majestic and relaxing...you can always find a private spot on our beach. We are so glad you enjoyed your time with us, and we look forward to having you visit us again. Thank you for shining a light on our uniqueness and quaintness.

My family and I have been vacationing at Ocracoke for 15 years, and we always choose Ocracoke Harbor Inn for our stay. This Inn is ever so slightly off the beaten path, allowing for a quiet stay, yet within easy walking distance of restaurants and local attractions. The Miller family that owns and manages the Inn always makes us feel welcomed and at home. We usually get a one bedroom suite with a harbor view. The rooms are large, the bathrooms are simply luxurious, and the view from the balconies over the harbor is beautiful and immediate. The kitchens are well equipped with a full size refrigerator, microwave, toaster, and coffee maker. The continental breakfast in the hotel lounge is always good. The rooms are immaculately clean and comfortably furnished. Our favorite feature? The beautiful harbor view from the balconies. You can’t go wrong at Ocracoke Harbor Inn.

Yowza! This is a FABULOUS review!! Thank you for always choosing us, and for mentioning all the of highlights of what we have to offer! We strive to provide each and every guest with a beautiful, wonderful and relaxing experience. Yes, we are a bit "off the beaten path", but that works in our favor, as it provides easy access to the village, but also allows for a quiet sanctuary to return to, after a day of island adventures. It is our sincere pleasure to ensure that when you are ready to travel, we are here to help you relax, unwind and enjoy allllllll that the island has to offer :) We are so happy you were able to get away, and have some family time together to recharge & reconnect. We appreciate you allowing us the opportunity to take care of you...look forward to seeing you again!

Pictures never do full justice so we weren't sure what we were getting from the inn and Ocracoke in general, but everything was wonderful. We loved the island and loved the inn and will stay there on our next trip. the staff was welcoming, informative, and very nice. The grounds and property were in great condition, and though it may look like it's in an out of the way location there is nothing that isn't within walking distance except for the restaurants on the east end of the town. The room was large, clean and comfortable and we loved the comfy chairs on the balcony and the views as well. We rented bikes from the inn which was convenient and cut down on the time we spent walking since we didn't have much time to begin with. The continental breakfast was simple but still nice since we were there out of season and most restaurants had not opened. We'll be back and we'll stay here.

Ocracoke is a quirky place, no doubt. Some people "get it" right away, and really get into the island groove. It sounds like you did just that, and we are so happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay. Everything really is within walking distance in the village, but bikes and golf carts are a quicker way to get around and see all of the nooks and crannies of our little hamlet. The balconies are ALWAYS a favorite...some people prefer to just stay there all day and watch the boats instead of going to the beach...it's up to you what you want to do when you are here. We're just thrilled you enjoyed your stay, and that you'll be back to visit. Thank you for taking the time to give us such a kind review.

We love the clean rooms, beautiful views, harbor-side docks with chairs and tables, excellent staff, perfect location to bike to favorite eateries and lovely, natural island areas; can walk to many depending on your personal fitness. Bikes and golf carts available to rent. OHI is the best.

The best?? Why, that is the highest of compliments!! We appreciate the kudos. The island, and village, of Ocracoke are the star of the show, with miles of pristine beaches, lots of trails to hike, lots of restaurants and shops to explore, so many events on the calendar to enjoy...the list goes on and on of all the outstanding aspects of island life. We aim to be the relaxing sanctuary at the end of your fun filled day...we're so glad we were able to be that for you. Thank you for the fabulous review, and we can't wait to have you back with us!

First time returning to Ocracoke since Dorian hit and we had a great time. The hotel is nicely appointed and must have been updated at some time in the last 5-10 years. Much nicer than the other hotels I have stayed at on Silver Lake Harbor in the past. Staff were very accommodating and friendly. You can rent golf carts, bikes and there is charter fishing available as well on site. Price was a little higher than the other hotels I had stayed at in the Harbor but was honestly worth it. I was more comfortable with this stay than any of the others I had in the past at other hotels and will definitely pay a little more next time to return to this hotel. They also have beautiful brand new decking (it had to be replaced after Dorian) with high quality Adirondack seating along the harbor and on the balcony’s of the rooms. Ocracoke is still getting up to speed so to speak between Dorian and COVID but a good bit of restaurants were open just not for dine which was fine with us eating on our balcony overlooking the harbor instead. I highly recommend this hotel.

Front desk attendant (office is across the street from the hotel) was very pleasant. Room was comfortable, with plenty of electrical outlets for recharging electronics. Room included a microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, and plenty of plates, glassware, and utensils. Our suite was on the 3rd floor in the back of the hotel. The view was not very good and we did not use our balcony. Felt like the residents of the building next door could watch us. Might have been better to have a smaller room with a harbor view, but that would require making reservations quite far in advance. I'd be happy to stay again but would plan differently.

We are very sorry you found your stay lacking: we do our best to ensure that all of the rooms are well furnished, and exceedingly comfortable. You are correct in that the harbor view rooms book very quickly. We are very clear when we book non-harbor view rooms that they do not share the same view as the others; therefore we provide numerous seating areas on the decks, dock and lawn to enjoy outside of your room, that allows you to still be on the harbor. If you decide to visit us again, definitely request a harbor view room.

My wife and I spent my post retirement vacation trip here. I reserved late so we had to switch rooms. The hosts were very accommodating in calling us when the rooms were ready.
We stayed in 2 different suites, 401 and 305. Great views of Silver lake from both. 401 is smaller, but is right above the office and we found it a little quieter. 305 was a much larger suite and the bedroom could be closed off from the living area.
I'd give the edge to 305, but you will be happy in either.
Friendly hosts, very clean rooms means we will be coming back.

Perfect place for a couple. Nice porch, living and dining area and good size kitchen. The bed was very comfortable and a very nice size bathroom. They furnished essentials (paper towels, toilet paper, dishwashing soap) that prevented us from having to go the grocery store. The kitchen could be a little better appointed with items (e.g. a colander, bigger bowl for salad or pasta and some better wine glasses). We made do for sure but wished for a few of these items and was surprised they were not there. But, overall a great place and we would definitely come back.

For fear of being overrun and overpriced, I have sometimes avoided places that are rated #1 on TA in recent years. Prices were fair and the atmosphere was downright peaceful. It deserves it’s #1 ranking. This is a well-run hotel.
As we rolled of the ferry from Swan Quarter after a very long day of travel, check in could not have been easier. There was ample parking in the back of the hotel. The luggage lift in the main hotel building was much appreciated. Ice machine was just down back balcony on the same level. The room was spotlessly clean and as pictured. The harbor views from our second-floor balcony room could not have been better. Watching what comes and goes from this small harbor was one the highlights at the end of the day. Dockside seating along Silver Lake Harbor is also a big plus. I would not hesitate to book Ocracoke Harbor Inn again.
The next morning after a nice continental breakfast, we had reserved a golf cart for our one full day on the island. Starting with the lighthouse and the nearby trail to Springer Point, you can tour the entire village in no time with a golf cart and it certainly makes parking easier. Ocracoke certainly has its share of decent restaurants, but many are closed on Sunday, and I suspect a few were closed for the season just one week after Labor Day. Still there were several interesting tourist shops and a good local bookstore open.

Darren- Thank you so much for this amazing review!! With such dependence on online information and booking, it is understandable that you (and others) are hesitant to believe everything you see and read. It really is ALWAYS better to contact a hotel directly, so you know exactly what you are getting. We are tickled that we met and exceeded your expectations. (doing a little happy dance as I type!) We are thrilled you enjoyed all that OHI and the island had to offer...thank you for highlighting your experiences, and for taking the time to share them with tripadvisor-land. Hoping you return soon for more fun in the sun and coastal adventures....we can't wait to welcome you back.

As I understand it, having no dog myself, the Harbor Inn does not allow pets on the property.
The inn itself was not damaged, but the office was damaged and the docks destroyed. Repairs are being made all over the island, but many places remained closed. In fact, the whole island of Ocracoke itself is closed to nonrelief working visitors through the end of 2019. The Harbor Inn is scheduled to reopen March 2020.
So sorry for the incredibly delayed response...we are only just now seeing this question. Yes, we have laundry facilities on the property for guests of the Inn. It's $6 a load, and everything is provided; detergent, bleach etc. There is no public laundromat, but each hotel usually has it's own facility. Hope this helps, and again, I sincerely apologize for the delay. The tripadvisor messages don't come through to our email address....
Hi there! For the night of Wednesday, 4/24, for four guests the rate are $150 plus tax for the first floor, harbor view room with 2 queens. For a second floor, harbor view room, with 2 queens the rate is $160 plus tax.
