I have stayed at the Edwards Inn twice in the past year. I visited with a friend last October. We had one of the charming rooms with a small porch. There was a coffee pot and coffee, a small mini fridge, TV, WIFI. Toiletries were included. The space was small but comfortable and suited our needs perfectly. The Inn is close to many restaurants and the entire town is very walkable from this location. i visited again in April of this year. This time with my husband and we chose a unit with two bedrooms that was part of a duplex, upstairs on stilts. The layout was very nice, and we had a very large porch which we enjoyed. My only complaint is that the cupboards were BARE of any type of essentials. I think there may have been a salt and pepper shaker. No toiletries were provided and this is one of the few times I came without any of that, thinking that at least shampoo and conditioner would be available. We had to buy all condiments, coffee, etc. Be prepared if you rent one of the units that is not part of the motel complex.…
You’ll see “clean” in nearly every review for a reason. The owners take pride in their simple rooms and cottages, and they are spotless. Truly. The exacting detail, instructions and inventory exemplifies their attention to detail. Check in and out was simple. We (wife and I) stayed in Sunny Cottage, which is an older, single wide mobile home. Don’t let that scare you away, because it is finished perfectly and is very solid. It is very secluded and private, yet exceptionally bright inside. Strong dual AC units kept it cool on this few hot week in August (we left today). We wouldn’t change a thing, and we’ll be back. Stupendous.
Edwards of Ocracoke is a wonderful island gem that takes one back to simpler days. We have stayed twice at Edwards, you won't find any place cleaner anywhere! They have several sizes of units to stay in from hotel room to efficiency and are decorated in style from bygone days. If you were a kid in the 50's-60's vacationing with parents, family, you will be taken back to simpler days, quiet relaxing easy living in one of Edwards rooms or cottages...you won't want to leave...we can't wait to go back...to undivided, well appointed attention and pride of ownership in the family business...get on the Ferry and stay at Edwards of Ocracoke...you'll be glad you did...
The owners obviously take pride in this place! Very friendly and accommodating people. We stayed in one of the Courtyard rooms which was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Probably the CLEANEST place we've stayed. I especially loved the room darkening curtains and the clothesline on the screen porch. Ice is available in the office all day and they leave a cooler out with ice if you need it at night. Within walking distance of everything. Highly recommend Edwards if you are visiting Ocracoke!
Stayed in Ocracoke at Edwards and enjoyed the laid back vibe and retro styles room. Probably looked like it did in the 60's or 70's. Nothing fancy but enjoyable and clean. Was nice to be close to all that you need to do in Ocracoke. We did have the one room but they do offer other options.
I've stayed many times with Edwards and have always been happy with my accomodations. They have rooms and apartments to satisfy every need and differing family sizes. I have been able to reserve a room on the spur of the moment without issue. The staff are all very friendly and will work to make sure you're stay is excellent! I highly reccommend Edwards to anyone visiting Ocracoke, even if just for a few days.
We have been staying at Edwards since the 1990's. We love the decor and the coziness. Our favorites are the courtyard efficiency rooms, but we've also stayed in the cottage complex. One thing we've noticed over the years is how ecologically conscious Edwards is, and we appreciate that, too. Location is excellent. As Ocracoke gets busier, it remains a quiet oasis near the village. Our first choice for lodging on the Island.
The Clark family owns it, they take your reservation, they check you in, they clean the rooms, and they do the maintenance. To say that they take a personal pride in what they do is an understatement.
My family visited Ocracoke on several vacations and stayed at different motels, and then, we found Edwards of Ocracoke ! This nice, clean, and friendly little place is located at 216 Old Beach Road in the village. This time around and traveling alone, I stayed in a bungalow room, which was perfect for a solo traveler. It had all the amenities that I needed, Directv, a/c, fridge, and wi-fi ! The staff is knowledgeable and friendly! I highly recommend Edwards!!
Have stayed here 3 or 4 times and still the same high quality stay. I stay in the Bungalow which is the cheapest accommodation in this family owned motel. +'s are parking right in front of your place, large room, good air conditioning, good lighting inside, front porch with chairs, family feeling with quaint setting and rooms, microwave, refrigerator, great location, quiet, good shower but only goes up to warm water (maybe on purpose), comfortable bed, Direct TV with lots of stations, and reliable WiFi. Still wish their TVs were larger (basically 17" computer monitors) and no vanity. And no breakfast since this is a relatively small, family run operation
