If you are looking for a historical building to stay in while you visit the wonderful village of Ocracoke, one has to consider the Island Inn. Now, if you take everything else in to consideration, you better move on. This is definitely not a place to consider. When I paid in advance for my room, I knew I would have... More

My husband and I had booked a room for a Friday & Saturday because my brother in law was getting married & everything else was packed full. Once we pulled up I was already thinking "What? " in the back of my mind. My husband and I went to go check into the front desk but there was no one... More

We rented three three of the condos and two of the interior hotel rooms. We had an excellent stay. We found them to be clean, efficient and inviting. The staff could not have been nicer or more accomodating. We will definitely return.

Sadly, I had already made a reservation at a hotel in Kill Devil Hills for New Years Eve, before driving through Ocracoke. The Island Inn was offering an affordable off season rate, and advertised being pet friendly. I don't go anywhere without my dogs, but I have a horrible time finding places to stay. I made a reservation for the... More

I'm not one to write reviews often, but as new user of trip adviser, I felt it necessary to rebut some of the recent things I have read about my favorite place to stay, in my favorite place to visit. As a working musician, I make it a priority to seek out accommodations that are not only affordable, but give... More

As many others have stated...I rented rooms 4 5 and 6 for two nites and when I arrived the lady said she hadn't took the 250.00 deposit off of my visa card yet and would I like to just pay cash, and I said no, just take the 250.00 as originally planned. I paid the 360.00 difference in cash and... More

Not water bugs. Cockroaches. And the emergency number went straight to voicemail. Never stay here. While I'm impressed with the history and the location to a degree, the cleanliness level is intolerable.

This is an old hotel but clean and central to everything. The staff is very friendly, and I felt like I did when I was staying at my grandma's house back in the 70's. The rooms are large and open onto cozy porches. It's really more like an apartment room. I'll probably not ever stay anywhere else when I return... More

My wife and I have been staying at THE ISLAND INN for over 25 years and simply adore this very special place. Ocracoke Island is abundant with history, and THE ISLAND INN is smack dab in the center of it all. The main difference between a Hotel and an Inn is management. A Hotel is run by various employees whereas... More

The Island Inn in Ocracoke will appeal to all people of an artistic temperament—those who appreciate history, culture, tradition, authenticity and good people. Housed in a stately Victorian white frame building that is one of the oldest establishments on the Outer Banks, the Island Inn overflows with an abundance of rustic charm and a little bit of magic. It is... More
