This is an older motel but very well maintained and obviously remodeled since the bathroom had a great deep tub and a nice sink as well. It is conveniently located right across from a Variety store (which was a small grocery store and had tourist-y items as well). One can also walk everywhere in Ocracoke from this location - and... Arrived with the last ferry, just before sunset. Found this motel, as it was recommend by another passenger. Check in was quick. Staff very polite and informative. Gave good dinner recommendations. We stayed in the old part of the motel. And you could smell that it's old. But not in a bad way. The room was clean. Actually spotless. Probably... More

This is the first time I stayed on this island. The name comes from the nickname the locals have for the island, due to the (former) presence of wild horses. We had the room at the end of the newer addition on the bottom floor. Rooms were bigger and had more amenities (refrigerator, microwave etc). Staff was very friendly and... More

Get what you pay for at this local hotel. The rates were $80 a night which was very affordable for an overnight stay. The hotel was comfortable and clean. My guest enjoyed sitting in the chairs on the porch while I napped with the window up listening to the birds and the ocean. The only drawback was a couple that... More

I think it is funny that one of the reviewers said it was shabby - it is an older property but is meticulously maintained. Everything was super clean and the staff was always friendly and helpful. We were able to rent bikes at a reasonable price and there was not a free breakfast, but the breakfast at the Pony Island... More

We stayed here for just one night at the beginning of April. The check in process was quick and the clerk was so friendly and answered all the questions I had. We stayed in room 301 which was great. Everything was very clean and spacious for our family of three. We will definitely be going back to this hotel.

First time stayed here. They must have just renovated the place because everything was new. Restaurant right next door or walk to the Back Porch. We had a room with 3 beds that slept the 5 of us. Great price and would stay here again. We only stayed one night.

Not much choice of hotels during off season, but Pony Island, although a bit shabby, was open. There aren't many outlets in this room. The air conditioner was loud. With the window open only a couple inches, you can hear the guinea hens across the way, all night long. (Near the bank atm). The staff is very friendly and accommodating,... More

Location: Right off NC-12. It's Ocracoke, you can bike or walk to just about any restaurant or shopping from here. Parking: Easily accessible, even for a big truck. Service: Friendly, they make you feel at home right away. We weren't able to check in until 9PM, and it wasn't any trouble at all. Everyone we encountered was wonderful! Room: Clean... More
