Loved it so much that we booked already again for next year. Stumbled on this after a group traveling together wasn't able to stay in the same location... Guess 14 people is a lot for any property! So we branched out, found this gem, and now everyone is booking here next year. Staff is stellar, super kind and sweet. Those staying in the main house get breakfast, which was mouthwatering and just enough different every day to keep you interested. Typical B&B-style eating in the morning meant we were making new friends, too, with others who were also staying there. We really enjoyed all the onsite amenities... Pool table, living area with the World's Most Comfortable Couch, private dock, widow's walk, swimming pool, sauna, and steam room - we thought we must have misread something, seeing how much was inclulded. When we checked in, we were handed a map, and that by far was one of the best things about staying here - it's not cookie cutter hotel! Every room is just a little different and you should check the pictures to see which suits you. We did change rooms when we booked for next year, because we thought we'd bop around until we find "our" room. On top of that, really cool history for how the property came to be; check out their website for the back story and you can google the owner if you want something fun to read. Really enjoyed this stay; they made our visit!…
It goes by several names, which might be a clue. I found it under a search for “ Bed and Breakfast”. The room I selected turned out to be a “ villa”. No breakfast included. I tried to purchase breakfast. No, the health inspector doesn’t allow that. I thought of all the lovely hospitality I have encountered in the bed and breakfasts across the country. I settled. There is The Castle building, a restored beauty. It is surrounded by condos and villas. I never was directed to chose one of those. I was sold into the villa. The photos did the old furniture justice, my husband noticed that. I ignored the photo of the sagging couch. Which isn’t useable. Neither are the swing and chairs on the screened in porch. The rope has sagged on those old things A fully stocked kitchen means not enuf forks and one pan lid. Silver lake is a place of quaint beauty. I’ll find a better place next time. My parting words to the innkeeper? “ The storm door is only held by one screw”…
We rented one of the Castle Courtyard Villa's the week of Easter April 2021. It was CV6B Scotch Bonnet B. It was a 2nd floor Studio. We were very disappointed with the room there were several reason why. It was advertised with wireless internet access and phone, and a kitchenette with toaster, mini-refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, and sink. There was no internet access or even a land line phone. We contacted the office and they said that each unit owner was responsible for supplying internet access with the internet access code. They said they tried to reboot the modem, which was in the next door unit (A), and they would contact me with the access code. But they never called us back. It never worked the whole time we were there. Very disappointed. The air conditioner did not work at all. The coffee maker was so dirty it appeared to have dirt in the strainer. The shower fixture was loose. The bed was very uncomfortable. We never received clean towels as promised. It was very disappointing to discover that the office staff had no control over the Villa that we rented. They just provide the door key code so you can enter the room. This was our first time here I would not recommend staying in the Villas.…
We’ve been staying at The Castle, particularly The Lighthouse Suite a few times a year for a decade. The space is lovely - a great couples retreat. Regretfully, the Castle management is only doing a fair job of addressing Corona virus concerns. Our visit this August to the Lighthouse Suite wasn’t a good one. For two consecutive afternoons and evenings we found access to our room blocked by a group of up to 10 people hanging out on the staircase and in the very small common area at the foot of the staircase leading to our room. They were not wearing masks or social distancing though signs are posted everywhere. They were uncooperative about moving out of our way. There is no management enforcement of Corona Virus precautions when it comes to common areas. Prepare for your trip accordingly.…
I have always desired to stay at the Castle. I have been going to Ocracoke since the mid 1980's. This Castle was in despair when I first saw it and thought it would be a nice B&B. I am glad the new owners perseved the building as it was part of history on Ocracoke. I stayed for four nights in Billys room with two family members. My check in with Dale was great. I found chatting with him delightful as he has alot of history to share. The decor was as I expected. It did have a worn tired look about it. The cyprus wood was with details and quite lovely. Our room also had a worn look about it. I found my bed to be a bit soft for me as I like a firm mattress.I did find the ac unit outside our window to be a bit lound. I would be awaken by the smells lingery from the kitchen each morning. Our breakfast was very nice and reminded me of when I would visit my great grandparents back in the day. Thank you Chef's! We used the pool during our visit and met very nice guest during our stay. The view from the Castle and upper deck is one of the best! I was suprised to find a leak in the sitting area. I called the emergency number to report it but no one returned my call. I put trash cans under the drips to catch the water and a towel so others would be carefull not to slip down. The next morning I mentioned it and was told it has been leaking for some time. I'm sorry but that need to be fixed! Mold can cause health issues for the visitors paying to stay at the Castle B&B. It can also stain the beautiful wood in the building and cause rot damage. I would say overall the Castle needs some TLC. I am glad I stayed a few nights here and enjoyed a part of Sam Jones history.…
The Castle is a gorgeous old home built originally for house guests so each room has its unique charm. Ronnie is a wonderful inn keeper and the breakfasts were delicious- especially the apple pancakes! :) The Castle is about 50 yards from the water and on their roof deck there is an incredible view of the harbor and lighthouse. There are bikes to use and Ronnie directed us to a breath taking beach in the state park to ride to just north of the small airport. Being in Ocracoke is like going back in time.... everyone is so friendly and helpful. The town does have quite a bit of activity mid day with the ferry arrivals but overall a relaxing and refreshing change from real life! We came to Ocracoke by boat and Ronnie and John at the Inn were very helpful with complimentary dock space and getting us settled in. We would love to go back and would definitely stay there again!…
We stayed here Sunday thru Friday in the Lighthouse Suite. If you choose to stay here, I would recommend this room as you have three levels to spread out and enjoy. We particularly enjoyed the Widow's Walk outside deck which is all yours to enjoy after 9 pm. The views from the outside deck overlook the marina and they are awesome. The best part of our stay here was the breakfasts. The cooks were very good and the choices were numerous and Very delicious. We did not need lunch as the breakfasts were also very filling. We enjoyed our stay.
Got a special advertised rate at castle b&b of of $133.00 a night, but we didn't receive a breakfast, and they added a fee of $89.99 to our bill, a special assessment, we didn't receive any extra. I would check on other places to stay although it is very nice and up to date.
My wife and I spent 2 greats days on Ocracoke, using the Castle on Silver Lake for lodging. We arrived late, but no matter.. our check-in packed was where it was supposed to be. We found the room clean and cool. Staying on this property was a great decision. It’s far enough away from the main road, that the noise can’t be heard, but close enough to walk to most of the hot spots.. We are already planning our next visit! Castle on Silver Lake will be where we stay! The attached pictures are of the Villa we stayed in. SeaShell 4A.
Our stay at the Castle B&B was amazing. From the warm & welcoming staff to the excellent accommodations my expectations were fully exceeded. Kelly, Ronnie, & John were the most gracious hosts and provided an excellent breakfast. I would highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a hospitable environment & a relaxing stay- I look forward to my next visit.
