Detailed Reviews
Islander Inn has a great location. If you have a room facing the ocean, it’s a nice view. The workers in the office were courteous and efficient, especially Jasmine. It has a nice pool and pool area, but neither were cleaned often enough, especially with the Covid protocols. Due to Covid, the included breakfast had to be eaten in your room. That was fine, but had very limited choices. Also, due to Covid, there is no room service, no daily cleaning, or changing sheets. If you want clean towels or sheets, you put the soiled ones into a black garbage bag and set it in the hallway outside your door. The hotel staff is supposed to replace whatever items you put in the bag. Both times we did this, we did not receive the same items and had to go to the lobby to get what we needed. If you think you will get a discounted price due to changing/making your own beds and the inconveniences to the customer ( and less work for the staff), think again. With tax and extra charges, we still were charged $200 per night! Not a deal!!! If you are looking for a quiet, clean, relaxing or luxurious vacation, you may want to consider somewhere else. The walls in this hotel are so thin and there is a lot of noise, even late into the night. Traffic from the road and parking lot is loud, and people stomping above (if you are unfortunate enough to be on the first floor), and in the hallways make it difficult to sleep. The rooms are moderately clean, but in need of updating. Our ceiling had multiple places where the plaster had fallen off, due to leaks from the upper floor.
Ocean Isle Beach is a wonderful vacation spot. We have stayed on the island many times, usually renting a house. We thought we would try a hotel this time. There are not many choices as far as hotels go. That is unfortunate. In the future, we will stick to renting beach homes.

It's a little outdated, but perfect for off season! We'll be back for another winter stay! Definitely wouldn't ever stay here in season. The walls are paper thin, and you can hear every single footstep above you, and everything else in the rooms next to you. I mean EVERYTHING. That was the only major downfall.
Quiet, clean, beautiful oceanfront view and private balcony was great. Got to see several deer, a red fox, and a bobcat in the dunes from the balconies at night. Watched several dolphins every morning. That was pretty cool! The last night we stayed people were booked next to us early afternoon, with dogs that barked LOUDLY all night. It got to the point I called the front desk to complain (as it was making our dogs anxious and uncomfortable) the clerk heard their dogs plain as day before I had even mentioned them. The people then came back almost immediately (front desk called I'm sure) to shut the dogs up by blasting the tv so loud you could hear it as if you were sitting a foot in front of it. By then it was pointless to call the front again, as we were leaving early morning. Had it been earlier in the week, I would have either requested they be moved, us, or I would have checked out early, it was that loud. The pool and hot tub could definitely use a good scrub down, but it was nice to have the option to go, and the area itself was nice, bright and clean. Breakfast was your usual continental breakfast, waffles, yogurts, cereal, etc. The area was very clean. Our room was nice, clean and smelled really good! We were very appreciative of the laminate floors, carpet in hotels is so gross, especially at the beach! I liked you could walk through all the buildings to get to the pool. Some of the other buildings smelled really bad. One smelled like rotten food and garbage, another was just funky! Whoever I spoke to on the phone while booking was incredibly helpful (I can't remember her name), as well as all the other staff we bumped into. Check in/out was a breeze. I loved that they're dog friendly and not breed restrictive. Overall it was worth the trip, and we will stay here again off season!

Third visit to Ocean Isle. First visit to The Islander Inn. It wasn’t bad but I wouldn’t stay at this hotel again. Upon arrival, the young lady at the front desk was not friendly or welcoming. Very vague and looked inconvenienced especially upon us asking the usual questions of how to find our room, when is breakfast, etc. Eventually located our room which reeked of cat urine. There were also flying bugs and little beetles occasionally found in the room. Of course, because of COVID, no true daily housekeeping services to help with this... On the plus, the pool and tiki bar was nice. The view and balcony was great. I loved that the bathroom was decent size and there was a secondary sink and mirror in the room. Breakfast was decent considering COVID and the beach.. well, that’s what we all come for and it’s fantastic. Ocean Isle is peaceful, pristine, great for families and the surf isn’t rough as with its northern counterparts. The only downside to this location is that you don’t get the usual sunrise view because of the way the island is situated. While the hotel wasn’t bad overall the cat smell turned me off completely.

We stayed at Islander Inn the week of July, 2020 with our dog Poppy and throughly enjoyed our visit! The Inn has the feel of the long ago ocean front inns that you seldom find anymore. Nothing fancy, just relaxing and enjoyable. I'm not looking for luxury, just comfortable, clean and enjoyable. I found all three here. This ocean front was so close I could almost throw a rock to the water! Loved it! The bed was very comfortable and we slept well without any disturbances during the night. AC was good and cold. The pool was ocean front and the water and pool area were always clean. I could walk right out the beach walk to my chairs and umbrella. Of course Covid prevented us from enjoying breakfast IN the breakfast room, so I planned ahead and took a couple of small appliances and we enjoyed a hot and delicious breakfast in the room every morning. This a great place to stay OCEAN FRONT with your fur baby for a very reasonable price. I had trouble finding an OF place that was affordable and would allow a pet. Thank you Islander Inn! The few things that I would like to change would be 1) put a full size coffee maker in the room. Three cups just don't get it in the morning 2) change out the shower heads and add the personal shower type. Weak water pressure in the shower. 3) Add another elevator. One more tip...we've been back over 14 days and thank you God we have both escaped the dreaded virus. We ate out every night. Go ahead and go on vacation. We were safe here. No crowds

Wanted a quick off-season weekend getaway & this was perfect. Oceanfront balcony had new comfy chairs & table. Our room appeared newly renovated with a mini refrig, microwave and high top table with 2 chairs which was perfect for 2 of us . Everything was cleaned frequently and we appreciated being able to grab breakfast & retreat to our balcony to eat it. Would definitely return here in the future.

When I first arrived it was nice great view room looked nice. The towel were stained which isn’t a big deal. As long as they went through a washer, right? The bathroom had a dead drain fly I ignored it. On our second night there I woke up 3 or 4 in the morning to go to the bathroom and found two very much alive cockroaches. They were small baby ones so I killed them. I wasn’t sure at first if they were roaches never had them before. Sent a picture to a pest control agency and it was indeed roaches. So I called the front desk and told them there rooms have roaches. I don’t expect money back. They blamed Covid and letting people bring food back in there rooms and house keepers not doing stays. They serviced my room I had no food. Housekeeping has been doing room service and stays forever and keep roaches at bay sorry can’t blame that or COVID! Gross never coming back. Which sucks the view was killer!

We are visiting family nearby, and it's a decent place. Ive read some mixed reviews, and it's fine. Really. Easy to get to. It's right on the beach. Beach view room is worth the additional cost. There IS an elevator. Staff was friendly and helpful. The room is a decent size and has everything you need.
Really the only slight negative were loud children running around until 11pm. That's not the hotels fault. There is some wear and tear on things, but salty sea air is to blame. Room Tip- bring an extra towel or floor mat, the wind brings salty air up on the deck and you room will be sandy.
All In all, I would stay again.

Everything was pretty great up until we started taking our luggage to the car. It was approximately 8:30 and check out wasn’t until 11 am. When we got back up to our room there was an unknown man standing there in our room going through the items we had left on the counter since we couldn’t carry them all to the car. When asked what he was doing his response was “what... it isn’t that big of a deal... we thought you left.” When I told him we had until 11 he said we’ll relax it was a mistake.
We got the rest of our things and after putting those in the car we went to the front desk. After making them aware of the issue we were told that they would talk to them and they’ve told them in the past they needed to make sure the people were gone before they go in to clean. I do get the business of a quick turn around when people leave but at no point did anyone ask if we were checking it out or if we’d be back.
I will also say that the manager Jonathan called me back about twenty minutes later and told me if I’d book through them then he’d try to make it up to me... I’m not sure that at this point I feel my belongings would be safe from the staff. Hopefully they get this figured out because it is a nice place overall for the price we paid.

Response from Islander Inn, General Manager at Islander Inn
Responded Jul 14, 2021
Good Morning On behalf of myself and our staff I would like to apologize to you again for the mishap that took place as you were checking out. Speaking with my housekeeping and maintenance that day, I can assure you that it was an innocent mistake. That being said, it was still our mistake and for that I am sorry. The safety and security of both our guests and their belongings is a top priority for us here at the Islander Inn, and is not something we typically have any issues with. I can only hope that you can find it within yourself to give us an opportunity to make things right and give you the wonderful vacation experience that has brought us so many repeat customers. Blessings and Best Regards Islander Inn Hotel

We typically rent a house when we vacation at Ocean Isle, but this year we opted for the Islander Inn, since we were planning a last minute trip and staying less than a week. We were disappointed that we were unable to have an ocean front room the entire stay, but the staff worked diligently to help us transition from one room to the next without any trouble. Joanna was great and very helpful with several situations. The rooms were comfortable and the ocean front had great views. The outdoor pool was nice and even offered a little tiki bar. The indoor pool was fun, too. We didn't love that people were able to smoke around the property, but they enforced the no smoking policy at the pool and on the balconies. Overall, we had a great trip and know we have a hotel to stay at when we aren't renting a house.

My husband and I have been coming to Ocean Isle Beach for over 20 years and have stayed at this hotel numerous times throughout the years. It has a wonderful location with great ocean views. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately it has not been updated in some time. In general it is very shabby looking. The carpet in the hallways are badly stained and dirty looking. The walls are chipped and need paint. The room was clean, but the cloth furniture in our room was stained. I laid plastic bags on it so I could lay my belongings on it. The toilet lid was cracked and the metal shelves above it where bent and looked as if it was going to fall of the wall. The bedsheets were very thin. The air conditioning worked well but the room always felt damp. The door to our balcony was difficult to open and close and did not seem to lock. The breakfast room was pleasant and clean, but is quite small. I hope the owners follow through with plans to update and renovate.

While I didn't have any restaurants deliver while there - I did notice several had carry out options and as close as the restaurants are located it is just a short drive to pick up food - I would think some would offer delivery too.
Don’t know if it’s through the hotel, but yes umbrella rentals on the beach.
