My husband and I are Thousand Trails members and wanted to explore the NC coast. WP campground is centrally located for visiting Beaufort, New Bern, Emerald isle, Swansboro and Atlantic Beach. Our reservation started on a Sunday (off season in early May) and a rep called us on Saturday to confirm our arrival day and time. Since the office would not be staffed on that Sunday, she gave us "after hours" check in. When we arrived, our packet was in the mailbox outside the gate. Unfortunately the key card and info did not tell you where the sensor to enter was located. Another camper saw our problem and came down to the gate and showed us. She said they experienced the same issue. FYI, sensor is on the side of the box not on the face. The next issue we had is our assigned spot was occupied however we called the after hours phone number in our paperwork and someone came promptly to the campground to help. Evidently our spot was reassigned after our paperwork was put together. Glad we got there long before nightfall. Our new spot, 15A, is roomy and we have a large "backyard" area with a privacy hedge which was great for us. Only drawback is the very bright street light. Plenty of room to back in and all hookups in good condition. The bath facilities are individual and kept clean. Nice laundry facility and pool looks nice but not yet open (opens memorial weekend, we were told). There's a catch and release pond on site and a nice boat ramp with picnic table on the sound side which is an approximate 15min walk outside the campground.
Finally, the staff was friendly and helpful. We would recommend this campground to family and friends.

The short term stay sites are in bad shape. Very unlevel and dirty. The cable didn't work because the cable box was wet and inoperable. I don't understand why Thousand Trails continues to allow people to stay for years on end. This location was clearly a mobile home park with most sites occupied by full-time residents. There were only a few sites for short term stays and they were all in bad shape. Thousand Trails needs to do better as a company because this was our 4th attempt at a Thousand Trails location and all 4 have been terrible.

This was the first time we stayed at Whispering Pines RV Park. Brenda was awesome and very nice. She contacted us the day we arrived and said that she left our key card and check-in information for us as we arrived a little late. The bathrooms/showers were very clean. We couldn’t use the pool much because of the COVID 19 restrictions but that wasn’t their fault. The beach is not too far and the campground was quiet and peaceful.

We very much enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back.

This is more of a mobile home park than a campground. We booked an annual stay (while building a home in the area) with the understanding that we could set up and use a Clam screen room on our site. After four months of using it with no problems (or complaints) they suddenly decided that the Clam was a tent and not a screen room and made us remove it. They are very accommodating UNTIL you sign (and pay) the annual leasing fee. Poor management in my opinion.

I would recommend staying elsewhere!

When staying somewhere to me the staff that you deal with are just as important as location. We did not end up staying at Whispering Pines because we were trying to get closer to where our friends were staying; however, Brenda Upchurch went out of her way to accommodate our needs. Her personality is one that goes above and beyond the call of duty. I would highly recommend anyone that is interested in staying in this area ask to speak with Brenda to assist you.

This facility is very clean, and the staff are helpful and friendly. The check in process was easy and convenient for us. They have a clean dog park, a pond with a bridge to walk around. The laundry facility was clean and not expensive, $1.25 to wash a load and $1.50 to dry, 4 washers and dryers total. The pool was closed but the bathroom/shower rooms were open and clean.

There was no manager on site to either let us in or provide any useful information.
Only through the help of other campers were we able to get in and then to use the shower/bathrooms and swimming pool areas. The camp site was just decent.
The whole experience was certainly not worth $91 for one night.

This was our first time staying at Whispering Pines, but we will definitely be back. We arrive right after hurricane Idalia came through. You would have never known there had been a storm. The park was clean, no visible damage, all debris had been removed and even the grass was freshly cut. The bath house has individual bathrooms with shower, and lavatory all in one. Some of the bathroom fixtures could use some updating, but they were clean and great water pressure. Some of the other reviews I've read stated the sites were small, granted they weren't the largest sites we had, but they were not the smallest either. We had plenty of room to put out our tables, chairs and other items that we brought. The annual site members were friendly as was all of the short timers (regular campers). It was quiet and relaxing, no loud music or campers at night. The park is also close to Emerald Isle, Atlantic Beach, Morehead City & Beaufort. There is also a pool, however we did not use it. A big THANK YOU to all of the staff for making our stay an enjoyable one!!

Our stay at whispering pine was one of the best rv parks we experienced in the short period of time we have been on the road in a camper. The location was perfect in between morehead city and emerald isle there are plenty of thing to experience and see. Bicycling on emerald isle especially. The staff at whispering are a outstanding group of people helpful and knowledgeable, especially Brenda with her help with the cable TV and the real neighborly feel to the campground where you could just pull up chair and chat over a cup a coffee thank you Brenda and to all that work at whispering pines.

I highly recommend this campground. The staff is superb in helping with making the reservation and with any questions a person may have. A beautiful pool, several clean bathhouse rooms to use, a laundry room, and a dog park are all within the park. This park is located close to shopping, restaurants, etc.
