This place is quite quaint, but outside is neat and clean. The room was clean and nice, just wish I could say the same for the bed!... When I turned the covers down, to go to bed for the night, there were either Blood smears or do-do stains! Yuck! turned my stomach! I ended up sleeping on top of all... More

Decided to stay at this Lodge on way to Linville and was very well pleased with stay. Recent renovations make the room nice, fresh, clean. Had a good night sleep after a cordial welcome from front desk. She took care of all our request and good thing we made reservations because it was sold out due to wedding in town.... More

Amanda made our reservations over the phone in May & was very helpful & nice. Holly, the general manager checked me in & was very nice. We stayed in Room 12 which is a king bed. We LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the new renovations which were done in 2012. This was our first time to stay here. The room was plenty... More

Stayed here for one night. Every employee we met was grumpy as hell. The room was fine but the mattress was super soft. It is our understanding that they allow pets so that is a positive. Probably would not stay there again unless we were traveling with our dog.

This was a very nice place in Newland, NC. We arrived 08/07/16 for one night stay to visit family in Crossnore NC and Grandfather Mountain. It is close to Grandfather Mountain, Banner Elk, Linville Falls etc. The room was clean and roomy. We stayed in unit 12. It had a king size bed which was good but not great. I... More

Service was good. A family owned motel. Rooms are all on one level and probably originally built in 1950s but recently renovated Located on main St. In Newland Price was reasonable for room. Beds were fairly comfortable. A/C was a little noisy and there was a lot of ambient light that came through window over dressing area at night. Newland... More

Lodge was super clean with plenty of bathroom space and counter space. Small fridge and microwave very useful. Staff is second to none, very friendly and helpful. Parking in front of room is very convenient. Great lodge for mountain visit. Kay's kitchen within walking distance is great for any meal.

Very pleasant stay for two nights in July. A/C provided white noise, didn't hear a thing all night. Comfortable King bed. Very pleasant staff. Near the places we wanted to see. Close to Grandfather Mountain, Blue Ridge Parkway.

The Shady Lawn Lodge was an excellent place to spend our evenings while we explored the mountains of North Carolina. The room was very clean, spacious and comfortable, and a mini fridge and microwave was provided in our room as well. The only complaint I have is that the wooden blinds meant to cover the windows blocked the window unit... More
