We picked this hotel to stay at over others because it was beachfront and had a pool, and pet friendly, yet much cheaper than others. The rooms were clean, the air conditioning worked well, the pool was nice and warm, and the beach was great. Just walk out of your room and you’re on the beach. Very good value.

This review is based on my expectation of a simple, safe, clean, pet friendly, affordable ocean front motel. It's exactly that. You can be out of your room and on the beach in about a minute even if your room isn't ocean front. The atmosphere is laid back, and the staff and other guests were friendly. It's clean and very dog friendly. The only downsides are things the owners can't control. It's an older motel and the rooms and bathrooms are really small. The parking lot was clearly designed when people had little sedans. When full of big trucks and SUVs, it's very crowded. It was hard to find a place to park when we arrived Friday night, but the rest of the weekend, there was no issue. If you want luxury, this is not your place. If you just want a clean affordable place to sleep where dogs are welcome, this fits the bill

It's been 10 years since I've had a real vacation, so I chose a spot that I went to as a child. Since the motel I used to stay in is no longer there, I chose the Dolphin Oceanfront Motel because it had a similar setup (beach access, pool, parking, etc.). It was conveniently located for many of the destination points I wanted to visit while there, and was very clean. My only complaint is that I'm a deep sleeper who needs blackout curtains, so having a curtain on the parking lot side instead of a slatted shutter would have helped me fall asleep faster.

I stayed with my dog the week of August 26th. It is perfect for dogs. It is right on the beach and close to everything. We took day trips to Corolla, Rodanthe, Ocracoke and other places so this hotel is very centrally located. The room was very clean and the mattress was comfortable. The room might be a bit small if you have more than 2 people but otherwise no complaints. The fact that it is dog friendly (but had no odor of other dogs being there which is great and speaks to cleanliness). I think the room size may vary depending upon where you are in the hotel. I was in a room facing the parking lot. I would definitely stay there again. I hope it survived the hurricane and is ok.

The location in nags head is very convenient and being just steps form the beach was amazing. Also, they’re pet friendly which was most important when choosing a place to stay for us this year. Smaller old style rooms but we don’t need much space for how long you’re in the room anyway. Extremely friendly staff and the owner (I assume in the office) was so kind and friendly too. We felt very welcome here and you can tell they work hard to make your stay enjoyable. There is a grassy little median in the center of the parking lot with picnic tables and grills. My only recommendation would maybe be a tiny microwave in the room but that’s not a huge deal. Bed was decent and the shower pressure and temperature were amazing which was unexpected in a small motel. We were room 38 (not waterfront but close to the beach end). They also have a pool but we didn’t go in at all. It’s also close to jenettes pier. Would definitely stay here again if it’s just us and the pup.
