We had the best day ever with our grandaughter at Andy B's at Branson Landing! Lots of fun for value and amazing staff. Andy Gonzoles is the best manager ever. Staff was so accommodating and pleasant. Must do if visiting Branson!
We drove to Andys childhood home not knowing what to expect. Thought maybe it was set up as a museum but it was not. Actually it is a rental that you can stay at booking through a local Hotel. (Not sure Which). Anyway it was nice just to sit there for a moment and think back to those days, good ole days that is. The house sits in an active neighborhood so wqe took a picture or two and went about our business.
Since the home place is a rental, touring was not offered. Privacy signs were posted Do Not Ring Doorbell. Even thought it is listed at the museum on a map. I would recommend giving privacy and not stop.
While visiting Mt Airy, my wife and I spent two nights at Andy Griffiths childhood home. How cool is it to set in the living room and watch episodes of the Andy Griffith Show on the DVD'S provided?? The house itself is very modest and furnished with furniture and appliances reminiscent of the 1960s. However, we didn't stay there for the luxury, we stayed for the atmosphere and the opportunity to stay in a legends childhood home. The location is great and the Hampton Inn staff is terrific. If we ever come back to Mt Airy, we would definitely stay there again. I highly recommend.
While in Mt. Airy, we took the opportunity to visit Andy Griffith's home place. It was easy to find on Google maps and is easily accessible for pictures and close to the road. However, the house is available for vacation rentals. So, there is a sign outside asking you to respect the privacy of anyone who may be staying there. I could see from the roadside that it was decorated inside just as it would've been when Andy was a child, much like Opie's room in the tv show.
