Bald Mountain House, the highest elevation Bed & Breakfast in NC, is located inside the Wolf Laurel Resort, near Mars Hill, with private access onto the Appalachian Trail at Big Bald Mountain. We offer 3-room suites, over 100' of covered verandas with long mountain views including Mt. Mitchell.
At an elevation of 4500' we enjoy cool air in the summer and beautiful mountain foliage during leaf season.
We are only 35 minutes from Asheville and the Biltmore Estate and one hour from Bristol Speedway.
Bald Mountain House is a true "BnB", serving a full, hot chef-made breakfast, daily housekeeping and no indoor cameras on site. The room rates shown plus tax are the bottom line. No added cleaning fees, security fees, listing agent fees, etc.

We are so glad we stayed 2 nights here! Absolutely gorgeous! The accommodations were top notch as well as so comfortable. Monica is fantastic and makes you feel so welcome. Really enjoyed the breakfast and conversation. What a wonderful combination of being in one of the most scenic areas of Western North Carolina and also one of the prettiest Inns we've ever visited. Just loved every minute here!

We lucked up when I found this place! We stayed for two nights but wished we could have stayed longer. Very nice BandB. Every room was very clean and Monica worked overtime to make sure everything was sanitized. She is a fantastic chef and we had such wonderful breakfasts. Our stay was very pleasant with lots of good conversation which made us feel at home. We will be happy to stay again. Thanks for a great weekend!

If you are searching for an idyllic spot surrounded by nature and the sounds of hummingbirds goldfinches and a babbling brook instead of babbling people, this is it. In addition to the idyllic surroundings, the owners keep their inn spotless and provide delicious breakfasts. This location was the high point of our vacation - in more ways than one.

It was a long drive for us from Florida, but well worth it. We were warmly welcomed and shown the large porch area with all the bird feeders, then inside to the lounge and dining area. We went upstairs to our large space consisting of bedroom with a very comfortable bed, sitting room , and bathroom. The views were spectacular. I loved reading by the window on the lounger while listening to the birds and glancing up at the mountains. After an excellent breakfast, beautifully prepared, each morning we would head to the mountain and walk for hours. Beautiful views, cool fresh air…it was truly memorable.

This is by far one of the best bed and breakfasts we have stayed in. The hostess, Monica, went all out in preparing the morning feasts. The food was awesome each morning. The inn is also within 10 minutes to one of the AT trailheads that leads to Big Bald which yields phenomenal views.

We were looking for a place to stay that had close access to Big Bald on the Appalachian trail and this was better than we could have imagined! We loved relaxing on the front porch and watching the wildlife. The breakfasts were amazing!

We had a great stay! The innkeeper (Monica), made us an incredible breakfast every morning. She and Tony were charming, their home was clean and the views from the bedroom and porch were incredible. The homemade cookies each day just completed our fabulous stay. Our only regret was not staying longer.

From the moment you arrive, you can see the beauty of the house, the property, the views, and it’s lovely to be personally welcomed by the owners. Monica and Tony do an amazing job keeping everything perfect, and they make you feel like you’re the most important guest. The rooms are impeccably clean and beautifully appointed. The outside area and the inside areas are equally welcoming. And the food is so delicious! Everything is fresh, and perfect. I’ve traveled around the world and haven’t ever enjoyed such a lovely experience. Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful stay at the Bald Mountain House! The rooms were charming, the views were amazing, and the breakfast was a gourmet, gorgeous delight! Monica and Tony were our hosts and they pay so much attention to every detail, ensuring you are comfortable and have all that you need. I could not more highly recommend them! I'd be remiss if I didn't mention you will also enjoy the sound of a babbling brook running through the property, sweet birdsong, and plenty of sightings of majestic deer strolling the property! Do yourself a favor and stay here!!!!!! We'll definitely be back!
