We had so much peace and quiet that it was difficult to leave! Our cabin was clean, roomy, and had so much personality. We played horseshoes, built a bonfire, fed the Elk (apples), sat on the porch in rocking chairs in early am and in the late pm. We were able to
Cook and eat without going to restaurants and even grilled out with the grill furnished by them. So much fun. I recommend to a Couple or to
A Family. There is also an inclosed pool that we were able to enjoy! We took a few excursions, but the Cabin experience was the BEST!

Iam a single mom of 4 & found out im being deployed in feb and wanted to spend a weekend with my children before I go . I picked MLK weeeknd not realizing everyone else had the same idea. I called thinking they wouldn't have any space and it was completely the opposite. J took her time and told me the ins & outs and all the details needed. She even sent me an email with updated pics. By all the reviews and my wonderful over the phone convo today Im sure this will be a memorable weekend with my kids before i leave ( and at a great price). im excited

The kids were all doing their own thing, so I was checked in by the owner. She was very nice, and really funny. We checked in around 7 PM, and hit the "antler" cabin. Our cabin was well kept, all wood, and clean (a little dusty). The owners are very serious about keeping it this way, so they have developed a robust set of rules, I suggest you make yourself aware of. Cool porch, ducks for entertainment, early spring nights, what else could you ask for? Loved it, will go back again.

We stayed in the Antler Cottage #11. It is absolutely beautiful! The grounds are beautiful and so peaceful. The owner and her family were great! We will come back. Great place for the price! You won't be disappointed.

Stayed Christmas day and the 26th in one of the 3 romantic cabins. The cabin was nice and clean with a full kitchen, bathroom with shower, hot tub, jacuzzi and wood burning fireplace. The back deck had a swing, 2 rocking chairs and a bbq grill. These 3 cabins share a large and small trout pond with a herd of ducks. They are close enough to have a conversation with each other from the decks, but far enough away that inside you have total privacy. The neighborhood Elk did not show up during our stay, but are frequent visitors. The other cabins are on a small circular gravel drive and looked cute. There is an enclosed pool/hot tub that the owners offered to heat up if we wanted to use. The owners were nice and brought us a bundle of firewood that lasted us both nights. Inside of cabins were very comfortable and romantic. Just about a football field off the main US 19 there was no road noise. The best breakfast place is on that main road and can be walked to in about 5 minutes from the cabin. Free Wifi worked well.

My family and I, 14 of us in all, stayed at Mountain Joy Cottages for the Labor Day Weekend. The new owners, Suzie and her husband are absolutely wonderful and friendly people. We stayed in cabin 5..It was clean and comforable with everything you need for a great mountain cabin stay including 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms; a full kitchen and very nice living room with 2 large leather sofas and 2 other very comfortable chairs, a stone fireplace was also a welcome sight. The owners are in the process of upgrading all of the cabins and their hardwork definitely shows. We fished in the fish pond and caught several fish. There are apple trees right out in front of your front door that are full of apples of all kind, including Red Delicious and macintosh. Every night, there was a big bonfire and we roasted marshmallows and made somores. Early in the morning we enjoyed our coffee out on the big front porch with rocking chairs. It was so pieceful and quite--wonderful. The owners really go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable and have everything you need. There is a playground for kids and a really large heated indoor pool. There are several cabins of different sizes to meet your needs. We were late arriving to check in due to traffic, but we called ahead and the owners met us late that night with a smile and even escorted us to our cabin and turned the light on for us. We will definitely be returning to Mountain Joy Cottages. My father does not want to stay any where else SUPER PLACE...SUPER PEOPLE.

I love this place!!! I was looking for a place that was affordable, clean, and peaceful and got exactly what I wanted! I stayed in Cabin 2, directly beside the pond and only a few paces from the main office and had a blast! It has 2 bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other with two twins...a bathroom, living room/kitchen/dining area furnished with enough dishes, utensils/pots/pans for 4 people. The furniture and fireplace was what "sold" me on it! BEAUTIFUL! The pictures online must have not been updated, because the furniture was very nice! The owner said that it was purchased from a local high-end furniture store that I visited and actually ordered some of the same for my home.
The indoor pool was clean and heated, and every time we went, we had the whole place to ourselves. Outside the cabin in the middle of the circular drive were apple trees that had the best apples that we made our own baked apples in the fireplace! The owners said that this was the original homesite of "Maggie" of Maggie Valley. The ducks were nice to feed and the only "memorable" noises I heard during my entire stay were the bells of a distant church and the occasional roar of the motorcycles as there was a motorcycle convention in town...not enough to bother me, but a motorcycle convention was something I didn't think about when booking. There were only two other cabins rented when we were here, so it was very peaceful. My daughter enjoyed watching the boys play basketball.

Overall it was an ok stay. The front desk gentleman was very friendly. This is the second time we have come on Valentine Day weekend. The cabin we had, was poorly insulated and no amount of fireplace wood burning/ heat combination kept it above 62 degrees. The sheets on one of the beds (we had a two bedroom cabin) were dirty and dusty, we spent the first night with sinus issues because of the dust before we switched to the second bedroom. Last year we stayed in the romance cabin (big bear) which was great. I highly recommend the romance cabins, they get a lot more tourist traffic and are better kept than the regular cabins. Will not be coming to Mountain Joy cottages anymore if the romance cabins are not available when we come next time.

Absolutely perfect. My husband and I just returned from a weekend getaway in Maggie Valley. We stayed in Romance Cottage 11. It was perfect in every way. The cabin is decorated very tastefully, was very clean, and in the perfect location: we were very close to everything, yet still secluded. We wanted to see the elk in Cataloochee Valley, and were not disappointed, and the drive was a very doable 22 miles or so from Mountain Joy. We will definitely be back!

What a wonderful place ! Our grp rented a 4 bdrm & a 2 bdrm. Absolutely beautiful. 7 people took showers NEVER ran out of hot water & clean towels every day. We had bonfires every nite. The pond was great. Baby Ducks & geese we fed, bullfrogs at nite. We went for MOPARS & Hawgs weekend on Harley's. We have gone to a lot of those things & stayed in hotels where the noise was so bad u couldn't sleep. MJC is far enough off the road but close to be able to get to the main road fast. There was a grill, so we cooked out at nite sometimes at midnite,we aren't drinkers so we also didn't have to worry about a lot of nonsense. All the staff was so accommodating & friendly. When in NC check it out, you won't be disappointed. Sonia McCullough Dayton, Ohio
