We a group of 12 people visited this cottage and we had a great stay. This cottage had a swimming pool, basketball court, Grill area, etc. Also it is in the foot of hills. So you can enjoy the scenic beauty. You can visit Cherokee which is 20 mins away from this cottage. Rooms were very well maintained. The only problem we faced was the locks in the bathroom which may get stuck if you handle it wrongly. This cottage have very good internet facility. You can also enjoy lively Maggie valley down town. Please plan to get enough groceries if you are planning to cook. Because we can expect a grocery store within 30 mins around this place. We all had a memorable stay.

I'll keep this simple, If you like cabin life and the outdoors, then this is for you. Fire pits, indoor pool, fishing pond and so forth. Now, If you're use to 4 & 5 star hotel life. This isn't your cup of tea. My dog and I loved it, the cabins are well maintained the beds are comfortable and it's easy to get to. Now, my spoiled teenage girls,, not so much. Their biggest complaint was that their wasn't an outlet in the bathroom to do their hair. I think you get the idea by now.

This was the first time that we had stayed in Maggie Valley and settled for MJC. We had the Fox cabin #7. Upon reading other reviews, I was nervous about the book of rules and that the cabins were going to be too snobby. I have never been more wrong. Please don't read the other reviews about that. There is a binder in the cabin, but it was never mentioned to us at all. The owner was welcoming, helped us with brochures, and was great with helping us find local attractions. The cabin was fantastic and had everything we needed. There were no dogs barking when we came and we stayed an entire week. Overall, it was fun, relaxing, and very peaceful around us. The only complaint that I would say is that the wifi was too slow and could not pick up the "smart tv netflix." however, who cares about TV on a getaway anyway! Great stay, will tell everyone.

I love this place!!! I was looking for a place that was affordable, clean, and peaceful and got exactly what I wanted! I stayed in Cabin 2, directly beside the pond and only a few paces from the main office and had a blast! It has 2 bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other with two twins...a bathroom, living room/kitchen/dining area furnished with enough dishes, utensils/pots/pans for 4 people. The furniture and fireplace was what "sold" me on it! BEAUTIFUL! The pictures online must have not been updated, because the furniture was very nice! The owner said that it was purchased from a local high-end furniture store that I visited and actually ordered some of the same for my home. The indoor pool was clean and heated, and every time we went, we had the whole place to ourselves. Outside the cabin in the middle of the circular drive were apple trees that had the best apples that we made our own baked apples in the fireplace! The owners said that this was the original homesite of "Maggie" of Maggie Valley. The ducks were nice to feed and the only "memorable" noises I heard during my entire stay were the bells of a distant church and the occasional roar of the motorcycles as there was a motorcycle convention in town...not enough to bother me, but a motorcycle convention was something I didn't think about when booking. There were only two other cabins rented when we were here, so it was very peaceful. My daughter enjoyed watching the boys play basketball.

Great place to stay if you like barking dogs all night. For the love of rest and sleep. I don't care if you have a pond with ducks, barking dogs and a place to sleep and rest do not mix! Would not recommend!

We stayed in Cabin 11, which is in the middle of three set on one side of a small duck pond. The cabins are spaced about 50 feet apart. I was hoping they would be further isolated but it didn't play a factor except for the neighbor's dog, which found entertainment in barking at the ducks. The cabin itself was very nice and cozy. Fireplace, hot tub, full porch overlooking the pond, full kitchen. Ceiling fan and central ac/heat. The cabin is absolutely silent at 3 a.m. - no noises whatever - except for the ducks. I found myself awakened by this, realizing my ceiling fan at home has a hum. Not a problem. We just got used to it. I took my own pillow as I simply prefer my own pillow. My wife said her cabin pillow was nice. The mattress was firm but with a half inch foam pad under the fitted sheet. That made the comfort level go up. The location is about 200 yards from Joey's Pancakes and that is a plus if you want to get a jump on the line there. Take coffee, Styrofoam cups and plates as there are two coffee cups, one plate, and one coffee saucer in the cabinets. The cabin is extremely clean. As it should be. You're charged $50 and hour for it to be cleaned after you leave. Another $25 for each hour after the first. Overall a very nice stay. We'd go back.

The kids were all doing their own thing, so I was checked in by the owner. She was very nice, and really funny. We checked in around 7 PM, and hit the "antler" cabin. Our cabin was well kept, all wood, and clean (a little dusty). The owners are very serious about keeping it this way, so they have developed a robust set of rules, I suggest you make yourself aware of. Cool porch, ducks for entertainment, early spring nights, what else could you ask for? Loved it, will go back again.

Overall it was an ok stay. The front desk gentleman was very friendly. This is the second time we have come on Valentine Day weekend. The cabin we had, was poorly insulated and no amount of fireplace wood burning/ heat combination kept it above 62 degrees. The sheets on one of the beds (we had a two bedroom cabin) were dirty and dusty, we spent the first night with sinus issues because of the dust before we switched to the second bedroom. Last year we stayed in the romance cabin (big bear) which was great. I highly recommend the romance cabins, they get a lot more tourist traffic and are better kept than the regular cabins. Will not be coming to Mountain Joy cottages anymore if the romance cabins are not available when we come next time.

Absolutely perfect. My husband and I just returned from a weekend getaway in Maggie Valley. We stayed in Romance Cottage 11. It was perfect in every way. The cabin is decorated very tastefully, was very clean, and in the perfect location: we were very close to everything, yet still secluded. We wanted to see the elk in Cataloochee Valley, and were not disappointed, and the drive was a very doable 22 miles or so from Mountain Joy. We will definitely be back!
