Having to get off the Blue Ridge Parkway due to thick fog we desperately called around for a room to stay the night. We called Alpine Inn with hopes of availability. There was a no frills room available that proved quite comfortable. The cherry on top was the incredible surprise of a sunrise right out of the windows. Was a MOST PLEASANT surprise. Sure recommend the Alpine Inn for those travelers seeking only the basics in no frills accommodations. Very accommodating owners!
On a recent motorcycle trip on the Blue Ridge Parkway we stayed at the Alpine Inn. A step back in history for sure. Step in the lobby and you realize this is not a typical motel. Greeted warmly by the owner you can’t help but notice the floor is on a slant! No, the building is not sliding off the mountain! The rooms are small, knotty pine walls, no ac and a tiny bathroom. But! Clean and comfortable with a small balcony and a view that will knock your socks off. At that altitude ac is not a problem. No tv either, but with a view like that who needs a tv. We enjoyed a light breakfast made by the owner sitting on the balcony. He even left towels on our bikes to wipe the dew off. A wonderful, non chain experience.
This was by far the best stay of my vacation driving the Blue Ridge Pwy. It’s only about a mile from the road (though my GPS struggled to find it). Exceptionally friendly welcome and lovely wood-panelled room with a sunrise view of the mountains from the window. I was up to photograph the sunrise and had homemade granola from the balcony overlooking the mountains. Reasonable rates. Free WiFi but a TV only in the lounge (a welcome break), along with coffee and a telescope for stargazing. Great experience.
I spent one night at Alpine Inn last week while in the mountains for a work trip. It's a beautiful part of the state, right off of the Blue Ridge Parkway. It's not a 5 star hotel but if you're looking for a small, laid-back motel, I highly recommend it. Ron greeted me upon arrival and helped me get settled. I woke up to a gorgeous sunrise and the breakfast (not included but not expensive) was delicious. Would stay again if ever in that part of the world.
We loved our stay at Alpine Inn. The view from our room was just amazing. We booked our room too late to get a room with a balcony, but even the smaller rooms have amazing views. There are no tv's nor ac in the rooms, but honestly, it is not necessary. We felt so comfortable. The hospitality we received here is like no other. It was so personal. It felt like we were visiting a friend instead of just staying at an Inn. Ron was a very attentive and pleasant host. We will definitely be back. Now that we found this gem in the mountains, we will make sure to book our room in advance in order to get one of the balcony rooms.
