Loved our stay here, charming, simple and quiet. Not fancy, the way we like it.Staff super nice, attentive, great service and great breakfast. Rooms have a spectacular view specially the sunrise. Rooms A bit small but that only adds to the cozy charm. Only small complaint is the shower, to small and the vinyl linings and floor had some minor mold stains. Other than that we really enjoyed our stay here.
Alpine Inn has a very special place for my husband and I. In 2000 my husband proposed to me on Craggy Dome ( Mt. Mitchell was under construction). We stayed at Alpine Inn that followed our engagement. We have made Alpine Inn a staple to our travel every 10 years. The new owners are amazing, we enjoyed the camaraderie of the other people that we met sharing our thoughtsand lives sitting by the fire. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay..
A stay at the Alpine Inn involves fantastic, breathtaking views with a cozy, homey, rustic ambiance. The Inn lives on the edge of Grassy Mountain in an Incredible location on a marvelously twisty two-lane mountain road (226A) in Little Switzerland. This was a repeat visit for us and our first under the new owners. We had a wonderful two-night stay which on this visit happened to include a mini-concert around the fire pit (courtesy of two other musician guests staying that evening), cool sleeping with the windows open (this visit was August 13-15), spectacular alpine sunrise just over Table Rock mountain (came free with our room!). And of course, there was breakfast available served on the main lodge balcony from a caring staff. You really can get away from everything at the Alpine Inn and enjoy the birds and the sunsets and moon and sun rises on Grassy Mountain. Strongly recommended, if getting away and recharging your batteries is what you are looking for. The Alpine Inn is a great place that steps back in time in a nice, relaxing, kindly way ...…
Close to the Parkway, friendly owners, Great Mountain views, clean rooms, comfortable bed, meet and greet at the fire pit was nice. Rustic, BUT...... Downside: Over Priced, and for the price the breakfast should be free. Our bath room was so small we couldn't dress in there. Low water pressure. Nothing free, not even a cup of coffee. Probably won't be back.
Spent a few days here with my son and daughter. Carter, the new owner, invited us to play our accoustic instruments around the picnic table out front during the late afternoon hours. Before long we were joined by other visitors and passersby for music, story-telling and coversation. Carter creates an environment that is welcoming to all; plus I don't believe there's a better view than you'll get from the breakfast porch or the room balconies. I highly recommend this place for an excellent mountain experience.
Stayed at this Inn for the night during a week vacation to the mountains. Good people, Carter and Steve were great hosts! Even though they just purchased the property, they are planning to keep the Inn’s historical charm. There are a few small things that could use some repair, but nothing that would cause an issue. It’s not a large property so not the most ideal for large families, but perfect for small families and couples in search of terrific views of the beautiful mountains nearby. Will plan to come back again God willing!
This is a 93-year-old motor court on the side of a mountain off one of the best driving two-lanes I've ever been on. It has clearly been renovated recently. Everything works, it's clean, all the amenities you really need are there. Staff is friendly and helpful without being overbearing. Breakfasts were delicious (they are extra, for those who want them). View is ridiculous, in a spectacular way. (We stayed in a balcony room facing over the side of the mountain.) The only inconvenience we experienced was very low water pressure; it worked, but sometimes only barely, depending on how many were using it at the time on the property. This may have been a temporary local issue; another inn in the area, we heard, had its well run dry that same weekend. Like so much of the Blue Ridge Parkway, Little Switzerland is sort of lost in time; you can imagine these places being a lot like the way they were 60 years ago. But, wifi in the room worked--not movie-streaming-strong, but strong enough for other stuff. Do be aware there is no AC/aircon; most of the time, you won't miss it, but as hot as it's getting in the summers these days, it stays warm at night; we slept the first night under just a sheet with ceiling fan and table fan going, and were ok; second night, t-storms rolled through and temps dropped almost 20 degrees F and we pulled up the blanket. That was wonderful, especially for those of us who live through SE coastal summers!…
I really enjoyed my stay, my room was just perfect, just as it was mentioned in the description when I booked. My view from my room was great! I really loved the view from the porch,it was perfect. I had breakfast and I chose the alpine breakfast, it was delicious, especially the fresh fruit bowl.In the evenings they had fire to sit by and meet the other guests and I really enjoyed meeting other people from all over. The owners Carter and Steve really go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need and are comfortable . If you want a nice and comfortable place to stay that has a lot of charm and views,I recommend The Alpine Inn.
My wife and I just stopped in to see the Alpine on a day trip. When we got there and were just looking, one of the new owners, Carter Francois, invited us in for a piece of hot cinnamon bread just out of the oven to eat it on the deck. The whole experience of talking with Carter while taking in the best view we've seen yet of the NC mountains was simply amazing! We're definitely going to return to stay for a few days in the future and will recommend the Alpine Inn to our friends! Andy and Gina Johnson
I read about this place then while hiking, someone else mentioned it. I decided to stop in while exploring the blue ridge parkway on my way to Asheville. I'm so glad I did. This place is such a treat. The view is amazing. Watching the sunrise off the private balcony was breathtaking! The rooms are clean. The hot breakfast on the deck was excellent and the hosts were exceptional. I love this place! No this and no air conditioning, and it was a little slice of heaven! Most definitely will return!
