It's difficult to express in words what a magical place Earthshine is, but I will try. We stayed here a few weeks ago for 5 days. It was our first visit but definitely not our last. I discovered this heaven on earth while searching for a family destination to unplug in nature in or near the Carolinas. After calling to...

I reviewed this amazing gem of a place several years ago, when it was known as Earthshine Mountain Lodge. Although it's undergone a management change, as well as some staff changes, Earthshine remains our favorite place for a family vacation. Our most recent visit was in July of 2016. We stayed in a spacious two-room suite in the back of...

Our family stayed for 5 days and from the moment we arrived it was like we stepped out of time. There are NO tvs but wifi in the common areas. The location is up on top of the mountains and the view is out of this world gorgeous. We stayed in the lodge and the rooms are not huge but...

Our 5 day stay at Earthshine was nothing short of magical. Our family had the best vacation ever. The staff was so friendly and accommodating, making sure we were always having fun. Our 10 year old son absolutely did not want to leave, and said he loved this place more than the Disney cruise we went on last year. It...

My family (ages 48, 43, 16, 11) went back to Earthshine once again and still believe this is the best vacation spot ever. There is plenty to do on property (80+ acres that backs up to Pisgah National Forest). There is zip lining, high roping, low roping, Cherokee Village, Pioneer morning, hiking and just sitting listening to the peace and...

This place if very special! Upon arrival I was a little freaked out about the isolation of it all, a couple of families in a cabin, scheduled meal times and events and not much happening after the 7:00 evening event. Overall, it was amazing. The kids have free run of the place and they meet other kids which keeps them...

I don't want to be too redundant with all the other positive reviews. Just be sure that your expectations are for activities, good home-style cooking, mingling with other families, and the nicest most helpful staff anywhere. Parents can give kiddos a long leash to play with new friends and explore a little bit. Apparently, the current owners keep things cleaner...

My son (12) and I spent 3 days here. It is a beautiful setting close to lots of waterfalls (a short drive). There is really no need to leave the property as they have two activities every morning and two every afternoon and an evening activity. We did high ropes and zip lining and a scavenger hunt. Three full basic...

This was the best family vacation we have ever had. Our kids had an amazing time and my husband and I the most relaxed ever on a vacation. One of the only vacations the kids were not bored and didn't have any complaints! We only booked 2 nights but ended up staying longer and will definitely be back next year!

“If you have a large group- or prefer to be a little less social- stay in the cottage. If you have someone with physical limitations, stay in the Bear Den. It has no stairs like the other rooms do. Just not when we go- that's the room WE like!! ;^D”

“Ask for a mountain-facing room with a balcony. These are typically for guests with more than 2 people (families or parties). Also, if it's summertime, only pack shorts and tee shirts. Nothing formal here.”
