A nice get away on the lake. Good restaurants near by and on the property. Beautiful golf course. We didn't play as my thumb was broken, but next time, for sure. There are numerous water falls and hike, also. The marina was just outside our door. We rented a pontoon boat for an afternoon and cruised the lake.

It’s the little (and big) things that make the Greystone Inn an exceptional place to stay. My boyfriend and I visited this weekend, and we had a wonderful time. The hotel is under new ownership, and I must say that these owners KNOW how to run an inn. First, we stayed in the mansion, which is gorgeous, with dark wood paneling, several fireplaces, and cozy lounge areas. Dinner is now being served in the mansion, and tables are spaced well apart for a private, romantic dinner. The menu is large, and the food is priced wonderfully—we had a delicious cheese plate, tomato basil soup, and fantastic other apps and entrees. The hotel and resort truly has it all, from board games in the lounge area, to extra amenities in the luscious cozy rooms, like a stocked refrigerator, snacks, and toiletries, playing cards, and even a sewing kit! A full breakfast and all day dining menu is offered, but you can also grab a hot cup of coffee to go at the landing area to the rooms. Our quaint room on the third floor had a beautiful lake view and spacious windows. Finally, the winter rates are an outstanding value for all that you get. The service is amazing, the staff are clearly there to serve, and they seem happy and proud to be working there. Thanks so much, Greystone Inn, for a wonderful night, this is truly a top-notch and lovingly maintained property. If the owners keep the prices as reasonable as they are now, I plan to return again and again.

Greystone Inn is located in a beautiful setting, surrounded by mountains and overlooking Lake Toxaway. Our Hillmont room was spacious, nicely furnished, clean and comfortable. Our favorite part was the private covered porch offering exceptional views of the lake and mountains. A good portion of our mornings and evenings were spent relaxing there. The bathroom was large and nicely decorated. Unfortunately, the walk-in shower lacked both a seat or a foot rest. As seniors who travel frequently and enjoy staying in upscale accommodations, we have come to assume those to be standard, and they are always dearly appreciated. The staff is professional, often with a hauteur found in elite resorts and those that aspire to be. Greystone Inn has an excellent reputation throughout the region. Still, our visit was not without issues, some minor, some not so much. Parking space is grossly insufficient, with Inn guests competing for spaces with those dining at the restaurant, which is open to the public. Valet parking is available in the evening for those unable to find a space, but that's a poor solution for Inn guests who tend to use their automobile trunk as an extra piece of luggage. :-) Our room safe was broken upon arrival and still broken when we departed a week later, despite having reported it several times. The only alternative offered to us was a small fire box that could be easily carried away. The Inn failed to deliver a dozen red roses requested a week in advance for a 50th anniversary celebration. (For those who consider this a minor issue, just hope it never happens to you!) In our opinion, the Inn could benefit from attention to dining and entertainment options. Dinner in the Lakeside Dining Room was exceptional and highly recommended. The breakfast buffet, on the other hand, was disappointing, with prices reflective of a captive audience. The all-day casual dining in the bar consists of a very limited menu, with a strange selection of appetizers and sandwiches that defy logic. Most disappointing was the lack of any live entertainment at all, leaving guests to choose between dark, curving roads or retiring early every night. Overall, we enjoyed a relaxing visit with beautiful scenery. Seven days proved to be too long, but we would return for a shorter visit. In some ways, it fell short of our expectations, but perhaps we expected too much magic. Greystone Inn is a wonderful place to simply relax, but be prepared to venture off the grounds if you seek either a variety in your meals or a little evening activity.

Absolutely gorgeous setting about a 3 mile drive off Hey 64 in Lake Toxaway Estates. The location is stunning; the staff is lovely; and the beds are incredibly comfortable. We had a huge room with a balcony on the lake and 2 queen beds for a very reasonable price. My only suggestion is that it would be nice if hotel had: (1) prices on minibar type items in room; and, (2) continental breakfast included in room rate. But those are minor quibbles. Another nice bonus is that as a hotel guest you get privileges at neighboring country club, including tennis, golf, croquet and swimming pool. This is a really special place.
