We traveled to Lake Lure to look at homes and we stayed at the Rumbling Bald Resort, the room was expensive for a one night stay "off season". The food at the Legends was not very good and we could never get the 28 digit code to work for our wi fi. The room was clean and quiet even with the view of the road. Would not stay again.

We stayed here for a week and had the most relaxing vacation ever! After checking in late in the afternoon we went to Ingles grocery store to stock up before settling in for the night. The full kitchen was perfect for making our meals. They had all the kitchen gadgets we needed and many we didn’t even use! We made a pot of coffee every morning. Regular coffee pot, not a Keurig. Yes, the roads are winding and it’s a very rural location. We were there to relax though, so it was perfect. We used the fireplace each day. The heating and air conditioning worked well and since it was mid-October we actually used both. After reading other reviews we brought a space heater (never used it) and a dehumidifier (used it in the lower level master bedroom). We took a walk around the grounds and came upon a mama bear with three cubs! Yikes! That was our only bear sighting, but beware. We saw the bears in the middle of the day and right near the main buildings on the resort grounds. We used the tennis courts and took a boat cruise around Lake Lure. Our guide was very informative and entertaining. After reading many negative reviews we were a bit apprehensive. However we didn’t see any bugs or rodents inside our unit. It was comfortable and exactly what we needed to recharge after a busy and stressful summer. We would be glad to come back some day!

This past Weekend, August 9-11th ,I Coach Melvin Morrison took my Running Group from Denver NC to Rumbling Bald Resort. It was our second trip there in the last 4 weeks .The first trip there was because team could not get enough of the place and school would be starting back early. We had to break the retreat up into two visits The first was to train and the second for a weekend and to run and help with the OLYMPIAN WEEKEND FESTIVAL THE R, Bald RESORT The team was excited and we arrived there early at about lunch time, The resort had us the covered pavilion upon request reserved .The team had just finished running had lunch and sat on the beautiful RUMBLING BALD BEACH. They sat there in awe of it beautiful mountains and scenery that surround the lake. . .Our check in time was at 4:00..The kids were anxious to get into the house The coaches and team were so excited to get a early call from the front desk that the room was ready at 1:30 pm..The hospitality and service was second to none .They give us our house assignment out amenities cards and information about the resort .The new kids of the team were blown away with the house and all the amenities there..Pool became a favorite sport We left to go back down to the resort the explore some more and to do some team bonding..If you have a group or family it''s time to put the cell phones down and come experience another amazing world that everyone is talking about . .Here there was enormousness amounts of thing to do..My teams favorite were the lazy river, the basketball courts and the bigger than life chess sets and the Fitness Center.. Everyone working the Resort was very friendly and helpful ,The manager of the swimming pool quickly recognized me and asks our team to join them at pool party that had games for everyone that stayed there .They learned I was a professional trumpet player and I was given a standing ovation as I play PROUD To Be AN AMERICAN for them SERVICE .and Manager (Eric Turner ) Pricless ! The team quickly found out that the Wellness Center had to close the pool and hot tubs because of work that was being do .I spoke with the Manager Eric Turner and the front desk. He was most helpful in helping me explain to my team that they were working on it and promised me that it would be up and working in a few weeks when we return. That promise they kept and more For the inconvenience, they gave us a gift card that the team was able to get ice cream and enjoy some extras other amenities While we were there.Eric told me if we need anything else please let him know .He impressed my team so much that that make him a thank you card for going beyond what we excepted . Truly FIVE STAR ! The Mayor of Lake Lure, Bobby Kieth and Olympiad Organizer Kay Ditter came down to our surprise to greet the team and speak with them. They made the kids feel like they were celebrities . The Olympic Festival there that they put on is second to none .It is at the Resort and the 10k race ,Triathlon and Junior Olympiad was as good as it gets .The numbers have double in size and the Resort is becoming Nationally .known ,Anthony Famiglietti at two time Olympian( 2004 & 2008) and one of my best friends came up and blew everyone away with his hospitality and running. He signed autographs for the kids at the festival and talked about training for races .He then we up and ran the Run the Rock 5k and beat everyone by 3 minutes and encouraged everyone to do their best and have fun .Rumbling Bald resort is quickly becoming known because of it great service and and beautiful view and World Class Festival There is something here for everyone .You will take home memories that will last a life time .Pack you bags and plan your trip today .To you I promise i extend the great experience we had . .Also reserve you stay next year in advance and save .The Resort and Festival is becoming famous as we speak .We will see you there. I am the man with the GOLDEN TRUMPET .Thanks Rumbling Bald for best service ever .

Rumbling Bald is a nice family resort tucked away in the NC mountains on the edge of beautiful Lake Lure. The shallow pool and lazy river are clean and perfect for children of all ages. There is another pool suited for lap swimming and diving. The lake features a sandy beach that provides another site for family swimming. However, when we were there, a flock of Canadian geese were making themselves at home and leaving behind waste matter and who knows what else. Our complaint with RB was with the house we rented. It was not well kept and left much to be desired. The description online was deceptive. It could be a very nice property if the owners would invest a minimal amount of money in new kitchen implements, linens and mattress covers(not on any of the beds), trash cans that are wild animal proof, and basic cleaning of the kitchen cabinets. We did order lunch to take out one day, and the food was well prepared and delicious. Otherwise, we prepared our food in the house. However, the oven didn’t work properly, so our evening meals were delayed as we set the oven 50 degrees higher than should have been necessary. Also, the propane tank ran out of gas after one use—another delay that could have been avoided by having a second canister available. Again, the resort and amenities were fine, but care should be taken when choosing a property to rent.
