This delightfully lovely inn is nestled along a creek that connects two bays which allows it to boast gentle water views on three sides. It is truly amazing that this quiet and peaceful oasis exists just minutes from the Wright Brothers National Memorial and the many popular Kill Devil Hills beaches and activities. The owners have thought of every detail to make your stay memorable, and all of the special touches are so appreciated. The rooms are stately and well-appointed, and the breakfast and treats are delicious. Really, this is a wonderful find...a rare jewel, and a fabulous experience. Honestly, it is a destination all on its own! You won't want to leave! Thank you, Dawn and Darold!

There were nine of us spanning three generations. We managed to commandeer the entire main house at Collington Creek Inn. Dawn and Darold were incredibly accommodating and welcoming. The nine of us enjoyed gathering in one of the several common areas. The breakfasts were delicious and inventive, as were the evening snacks delivered to us by Darold. The rooms were comfortable and cozy. Many folks traveling to the Outer Banks want to be "on the beach." However, if you want an oasis from the touristy clutter that is still close to the action, Collington Creek Inn is your spot.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay at Colington Creek Inn and I would give it more than 5 stars if I could. Booking online was easy, as was communicating with the innkeepers , Darold and Dawn. The inn is conveniently situated in Kill Devil Hills, the location of the Wright Brothers Memorial and close to towns in both directions on the Outer Banks. Room no. 1, the Island Room, has water views out of both windows and was spacious and comfortable. An elevator is available to take luggage to second floor rooms. We regularly used the enclosed upstairs porch with terrific water views as well as the screened porch at the front of the inn. We spent a lot of time reading in comfortable chairs on the porches as well sitting in several of the Adirondack chairs and swings scattered around the property. There is an osprey nest on top of a piling at the end of the pier, which we could observe with the naked eye or through a telescope on the upstairs porch. We enjoyed scrumptious homemade, substantial breakfasts on yet another porch with water views. We were very happy to enjoy the homemade treats placed outside outside our door every afternoon. Darold and Dawn were gracious and welcoming, seeing to all of our needs from the minute we arrived. COVID precautions were in place. They are genuinely nice people who were always available to answer questions and offer recommendations. They even gave us a parting gift when we checked out!

My husband and I stayed here to celebrate our 7th anniversary. We stayed in the cottage, and it was wonderful! SO clean - every surface shined, and we had everything we needed in the cottage (TV with internet, refrigerator, fully equipped kitchen - even robes and beach towels, and washer/dryer was nice in case we needed to do laundry). The cottage and the inn have an amazing view of the sound. We also took advantage of using the kyaks offered while there. Breakfast is restaurant quality, and treats were delivered to our door every night. Oh - and the bed is comfortable! Not too hard and not too soft. My husband and I slept great. The inn is centrally located, right next to the Wright brother's memorial, but feels tucked away from a lot of the craziness of OBX during tourism season. I highly recommend this place, and hope to be back!!

We had an outstanding time. We stayed Mon/Tuesday night. The building was designed as a B&B so no worries about odd shaped rooms, or phone booth sized showers. Our room was very comfortable and quiet. We spent a lot of time on the enclosed porch overlooking the water, relaxing. Innkeepers are great people, pleasant and engaging. Breakfast was to die for! We ate like royalty. Can’t think of any downsides here. Next time we return to OB.x, we know where we are going to stay!

The hospitality of Dawn and Darold and their interests in and desire to make sure we had the best possible experience at their Inn and in the Outer Banks are unsurpassed. They were very helpful in suggesting restaurants that met our needs for social distancing and at the same time had delicious food. Each day, they asked what we were planning to do that day. If we didn't really have anything special planned, they gladly offered ideas. And the breakfasts were absolutely scrumptious and well-presented. Dawn cooked and Darold served the guests at tables in the sunroom overlooking the waterway. They are a great team. Our room was lovely and comfortable and had wonderful views of the waterway. Their motto" Simply Relaxing" is truly appropriate.

Thank you for a simply relaxing and incredible anniversary weekend! Upon arrival, the surrounding water took our breath away, the inn so innviting (get what I did there?!), and our suite oh my goodness did we feel like celebrities! The view, private dining, porch, comfy bed, spacious bath with jacuzzi, walk in - it felt like a dream home all for us even though others were residing as well. We cherished every second lounging on the swing, chatting at the table, taking a much needed breather. Darold made our anniversary so special, making sure we had everything we needed and providing champagne, chocolate strawberries and cookies! His breakfasts were so yummy and offered extras of anything we wanted! He also helped us with kayaks, what a wonderful adventure taking in the beautiful scenery, and bikes - we were able to bike to the beach! His recommendations were great, easily available via phone when we reached him! Truly great to talk to, we enjoyed his chats and he felt like family. We were in awe of him as he was a one man show while his wife was away! We hope to have the pleasure of meeting her next time we are honored to stay! Many many thanks for a memorable and absolutely perfect anniversary getaway! See you soon, the Goodmans

I am hesitant to write this review because I am about to give away the best kept secret on the Outer Banks. I have been coming to the OBX since 1980 and I have stayed in houses, hotels big and small, and condos from Corolla to Waves and everywhere in between. The Colington Creek Inn is a truly special place. Owners Dawn and Darold acquired this beautiful property in 2019 and have made it their own. Pride of ownership is everywhere. Not here. The location is so convenient to everything on the beach and bypass, yet it is tucked away on a quite waterway with views all around. I have a love/hate relationship with B&Bs because sometimes, they just feel "weird". Our suite (Creeksiide) was private and spacious with lovely linens and toiletries. A 3-course breakfast was served overlooking the water with unique, tasty offerings from 7:30am-8:45am. Each couple had their own table. And, around 5pm, we were treated to a yummy snack left outside our room. It was a perfect stay! I can't wait to return!

Just had an AMAZING experience in the Outer Banks! I stayed at the Collington Inn which is a Bed and Breakfast located in Kill Devil Hill. The owner Dawn and her husband Darold are quite amazing and exceptional hosts! I had an awesome Gluten Free breakfast every morning during my stay that Dawn prepared which was homemade. EVERYTHING was delicious!! I did not once have a meal that I disliked. Dawn also leaves a small dessert every night by your door which was such a great treat after a long day of exploring! The grounds around the B&B are gorgeous, it makes you feel like you are apart of a movie scene because it's so beautiful. The rooms are spacious too! Book a stay at Collington Inn, you will not regret it!!
