When the pool is open, it's nice to have it. It was closed for the first day for repair. Rooms are okay, just not up to date. No complaints. Great location being right on the beach. We had a balcony. They served refreshing lemonade in the check in lobby. Across the street

Had a fantastic weekend getaway at the John Yancey with friends. The place could not be better - very comfortable beds, oceanfront with a sliding door that opens to a nice little deck and chairs that rock back and forth and a step down on to the beach. The room is modern and

We stayed at john yancey for one night with our dog. I was a little nervous staying at a pet friendly hotel but we were super happy with the room. Our room was a king bed with a sofa and a table and 4 chairs, plenty of room. Walking into the room it smelled fresh and had clean

good location, beach front has pool. Hotel needs many upgrades and cosmetics. Our room was clean and comfortable, bathroom was tiny. Door leading to outside had a 1 inch gap on the bottom, where anything could crawl in (blocked it with beach towel at night). Price was good,

Yes, they do. You have to request an ocean front room. My advice to you would be to actually rent a condo or house. I had priced John Yancey's ocean front room when we stayed. They were very expensive. The rooms really aren't that nice. For the same price, you could rent an ocean front condo. There are many reputable Real Estate Agencies in OBX. Sometimes they offer great deals. Especially off season. If this is your wife's first time visiting OBX, you'll want it to be special. I would only stay there one night. It served it's purpose for us. We had rented a house with a Saturday check in. We didn't want to deal with the traffic crossing the bridge on turn day. We drove down to OBX a day early and stayed at John Yancey. It served its purpose. I would have been disappointed if that is where I had been staying for an extended period of time. Enjoy your vacation!! I'm envious!!

"We like oceanfront if we go to the beach. The penthouse is fourth floor, so the dunes don't obstruct the view of the ocean."
"I'm sure there are oceanview rooms because of height of one portion of hotel. One section I believe was 4 stories, others were 2."
"Find another place"
"You can walk onto the beach from the first floor of the main building... that is if you must stay here."
"Specify ocean front room if you would prefer - they have chairs and a deck facing the ocean."
