Another reviewer gave this accommodation only one star because he felt that the photos did not properly represent the actual condition of the place. It is true that not everything was perfect that is why I can only give it 4 stars but we did enjoy our stay. Luigi, the owner is back in action after a long illness and is making efforts to improve everything daily. We found the meals to be very good and made with only the freshest ingredients. Luigi does everything himself from growing the ingredients to making everything from scratch. Our rooms were clean and comfortable. Luigi was anxious to get our feedback about anything that we might suggest to improve the experience. We would definitely return and recommend it to others.
The hotel lobby, the food, the ambiance, the rooms themselves... everything aas designed with such detail and good taste. It's such a pity that this hotel was located off thr beaten path. If it was close to the beach or the ruins, it would have been sold out every night. And the Sicilian owner was great too. So curteous and helpful. Fully recommend!
If you’re in the area, stop for dinner of fresh Italian food and a great chat with Luigi the owner. The location is very convenient for discovering nearby attractions such as the ATM cave and San Ignacio.
We stayed there from April 4 thru April 6. . From the moment we got out of our vehicle. we were in for a shock! The photos on Trip Advisor are totally misrepresentative of the condition of the place. It has tot rally gone to seed . The entrance way had a derelict bicycle propped up on one side and a spare tire from some vehicle on the other. Paint was peeling off. The foyer had dead leaves everywhere and was not swept during the time of our visit, Outside walls were badly in need of cleaning and painting. Advertised as having tennis available, a joke!! No grounds at all were available. Food was mediocre, at best.. First night, Lasagna, second pizza, third spaghetti and meat balls!! We even had to use the coffee we brought. We saw no housekeeping at all, doing our stay. The owner's wife returned to Canada last year and there were no housekeeping personnel. Settling our bill turned out to be a nightmare, as the credit card machine would not accept any cards and our total bill was hand written on a note pad.. Amount for three days food and drinks for four people came to $880 USD!! Rooms had been prepaid. We have had to return home and were requested to wire the final tally, which turned out to be $971 USD, as the owner said he "found" extra charges on the back of his notepad that he had not included An average of $81 USD per person per day for food and beverages? I respectfully suggest that TripAdvisor refuse this listing as it can only negatively reflect on TripAdvisor's credibility and reputation.…
Great owner Luigi who cooks and takes care of you. Knowledgeable and the place is full of expats who have their stories to tell at night. Close to the edge of Guatemala near the Mayan ruins. It is a pleasant wonderful place. Have a tomato in your salad....home grown and delicious.
