Maddy is an absolutely WONDERFUL host. She was so helpful, informative, funny and has created the most amazing guest house in this area of Belize. The food was incredible - she even accommodated for fussy eaters like myself, making vegan, veggie and gluten free versions of Everything for guests. Our hut was adorable, super comfy bed and mozzy nets (not...

Maddy here. Thanks for the positive vibes! I like it that you posted about food restrictions because we get it. Our goal is to serve healthly home made meals with a local Belizean twist that everyone can enjoy.

Lower dover is the sweetest place you could find. Maddie, the owner, will make you feel at home & she is very resourceful when it comes to activites/surrounding areas. You're very close to the ATM caves, san Ignacio & Xunatunich. We LOVED it so much we extendend our stay. The dorms aswell as the private rooms are very clean &...

Lower Dover was such a relaxing, beautiful place to stay. The setting is amazing with a number of walking tracks, mayan ruins and refreshing swimming holes surrounding the property. Maddy, the hostel owner was so friendly and made sure all her guests felt at home. She was great at encouraging a fun atmosphere through family style dinners and organised day...

Thank you for your positive vibs. Glad you mentioned the new solar hot water showers - a real treat for the budget Belize traveler. Your thumbs up review on our estate grown hisbiscus wine means a lot too. You are too gracious to mention but I'll say it for you....3 BOTTELS LATER & NO HANGOVERS since our organic hibiscus flower...

Lower dover is a beautiful place. You could spend days just hanging out on the property here walking through the forest, lounging in the river, exploring the Mayan ruins. Unfortunately for us the owners decided it was reasonable to rent out a cabin while they did construction on it so we didn’t get to enjoy waking up to the sounds...

It is regretful that construction happened when this couple stayed at Lower Dover. No getting around it. This reviewer is right. Construction noise in the morning instead of jungle birds is bad. The good news is that construction is over and today you can wake up to farm animals and singing jungle birds again. Regarding food, it's regretful that we...

I can't say enough good things about this place, and the owner, Maddy, in particular. A group of four of us traveled here and each got a single bed in the dorm. The beds and bedding were all very comfortable and in great shape. The property is absolutely gorgeous and full of charm. We loved all the friendly and well-behaved...

It's a real treat for me too when I am able to interact with the guests while sampling our estate grown hibiscus wine...then take a walk on the jungle trails ...then talk about the medicinal plants... then tour the on-site Maya ruins just a 5 minute walk from the cabanas. Life is sweet ...so glad I get to share it...

Lower Dover is my favourite hostel ever! If you can even call it a hostel? They have one cabin with 6 beds (bunk beds) in whcih is a great option for backpackers or budget travellers. The other private cabins looked great too but we were on a tight budget so couldnt afford them. The lady that runs Lower Dover is...

This place is beautiful, so many animals just going about their day. Hostel is very clean, bathroom is inside hostel room. Mosquito nets for each bed. Beautiful grounds. Very hospitable owners and dogs trained to help you along the trails if you get lost!

We had a wonderful stay at Lower Dover! The setting is great with the lodge surrounded by forest and Mayan ruins. Waking up to a rooster and the surrounding birds was great as well as the evenings with an amazing sky of stars and a lawn of fireflies. The staff was fantastic and Maddy was very helpful with organizing tours...

My experience from Lower Dover exceeded all my expectations. Even from the beginning I was sent detailed instructions on how to get there, which included me meeting the charming Mr Small in the town who rings the lodge for a pick up. This is always appreciated when travelling alone. Upon arrival everything I needed to know was explained (and I...

We absolutely loved our stay here and really wish we could have stayed longer. The grounds are beautiful with multiple gardens, plants and trees of all kinds, a river running through it to play in, and even their own ruins. We loved hiking around exploring. They even make hibiscus wine right there. The food was delicious and was very nice...
