My wife and I stayed in the aqua cabin at lowerdover. It was my first time in a different country and I was nervous to say the least. Maddie, the owner, was incredibly comforting, kind, entertaining, and accommodating. She had the best advice for going through the ruins and museums, restaurants, and how to do it on a budget. Speaking of...

We recently spent 5 days at Lower Dover as our base camp for nearby day trips. Maddie and her family were the most gracious of hosts and provided us with many wonderful memories during our stay. The property is situated right off of the main highway and perfectly nestled between Belmopan and San Ignacio. Be sure and taste Maddie's excellent...

Girlfriend and I really enjoyed our 3 night stay here, hostel is easily accessed off the main highway. Maddie (the owner) really gives this place it's charm, super welcoming, full of tips and stories. Probably one of the best people I've ever met and really great to see the hostel be a success for her. We stayed in the Rasta...

We spent two nights at Lower Dover two weeks ago. The owner, Maddie is a kind and considerate person who went out of her way to make delicious vegan and vegetarian meals for us. The common dining room was great for meeting people and making friends. Maddie also organizes group activities and tours for the guests. So although we were...

Amazing property that we unfortunately only saw half of cos we missed the intro tour. The dorm was extremely comfortable and the bed was the best I've had in the whole of Central America. The food offered was expensive for a backpacker.

Maddie was hands down the best host we had so far. She began by giving us a great overview of the grounds and explaining how things work in the area. We stated we wouldn't be eating one of her home made dinners and was quick to point us in the direction of the cheaper eats in Unitedville. She further organised...

Thanks to Bryan & Sharon for the positive review. So kind of them to make the extra effort to write about Lower Dover. It made me smile to see the Irish are chilled from the damp weather?!...but it's true. In the months of Dec/Jan/Feb the fog covers the jungle and the dampness makes it cool, especially if you have a...

I would be remiss if I didn't start by giving my love to Maddy. She was an angel. I was nursing a motorcycle injury and was reduced to hobbling around on a cane. She recommended a few books to me while I was on the mend, and was genuinely a great person with whom to speak. I hadn't had an...

I stayed at Lower Dover in October 16 and it was just the break I needed. I've never experienced such hospitality anywhere. Maddy (the owner) was truly amazing and I am so grateful to her for my stay. The beds are amazingly comfy and after months of insomnia I had some the the best nights sleep I've ever had. In...

Many thanks for this reviewer. It gives me great joy to know my guests can have a sound sleep when at Lower Dover. We have clean linens & pillows and provide mosquito bed nets too. The rainy season is over so the mosuqitos are not a problem yet we keep the nets up so guests have peace of mind when...

I stayed at Lower Dover as part of a backpacking trip around Belize. I'd originally planned to spend two nights at the lodge, but due to poor weather on the coast, I changed my plans and stayed for three nights instead. Maddie is the most welcoming host - I arrived at the lodge close to 5pm, but she was ready...
