My husband and I visited for our anniversary. The attention to detail during every aspect of our stay was exemplary. The size of our rooms, the bedding, the beautiful common areas and the landscaping were just a few of our favorite things. It's so centrally located that it was an easy walk to anywhere we wanted to go. While our weather was gorgeous - particularly for mid summer - we're dying to return now for another season.
This was our second stay at Old Edwards Inn, once 4 years ago in April, and this year in June. Both times, my wife and I stayed in one of the Falls Cottages. They are very private and located near one of the pools. The grounds are immaculately maintained. All of physical facilities, spread out through the center of town, are top quality. It looks like a place that was built to look old. Consequently, you don’t have the problems that come with buildings that are actually old (like thin walls, creaking floors, tiny bathrooms, old plumbing and fixtures). Everything that really matters to enjoy the property is new and elegant and solid. Really solid. There are metal gates and railings everywhere, and heavy-duty iron hinges on some of the doors. The wrought iron metal gates are physically heavy. You can tell that huge dollars went into renovating and expanding this property by the owners (Art and Angela Williams). It really looks like no expense was spared. The result is beautiful. Rustic elegance. We ate breakfast two mornings at Madison’s, the main restaurant at the hotel. It was good both times. One difference we noted compared to all prior Relais & Chateaux properties where we have stayed is that breakfast is not included in the room rate. You pay for breakfast out of pocket. Coffee is provided for free in the morning, but that is it. Dinner at Madison’s was also a little disappointing relative to expectations at a Relais & Chateaux property. They seemed to have a lot of young, inexperienced servers, mostly people of color with foreign accents, and service was a little disjointed at times. But, recognizing all of the challenges that restaurants have faced with staffing during COVID and post-pandemic, I am just happy they have staff available to fill the positions and glad they all have productive jobs. They were all very friendly and clearly trying to be helpful and professional. Our other dinner in Highlands was at Ristorante Paoletti, right across Main Street from the hotel, and that was fantastic. Overall, it is just a great property in a delightful small town surrounded by great scenery and many waterfalls and places to hike.…
The grounds and building were lovely. The room was basic and very expensive. Meals were nice, small portions, great atmosphere, very expensive. The hotel was a maze. Room numbering on the ground made no sense. The map was difficult at best. For all of its nice, it is really difficult to appreciate this place short of staying a week and $2k.
We chose OEI because we wanted something extra-special for our anniversary. Jackpot!! The staff here exceeded our expectations with helpfulness and hospitality. And genuine smiles! If you are looking for the most charming escape with a European flair, this is it. The meals we enjoyed at Madison’s and 465 - perfect. Pools were sparkling. Our bed was a cloud. Our spa level room was immaculate. In two days we never saw the whole property. It’s expansive with beauty at every turn. Our only disappointment was having to leave this enchanting place so soon. We will definitely be back. If you are seeking luxury, pampering, relaxation, and superior staff second to none, look no further.
Old Edwards Inn is in the darling town of Highlands, NC! We stayed in the Historic Inn and it was beautiful! The staff was attentive and so helpful and friendly! The property and surrounding area was beautiful and fun to walk around and shop. The spa was amazing as was the food! Highly recommend a nice get away to the Old Edwards Inn and Spa! We will be back as the weather did not cooperate with our golf plans!
Absolutely fabulous hospitality staff, beautiful rooms, beautiful grounds, heated pools and hot tubs, fire pits! We had a 5 star time at this beautiful resort. From check in till check out, the professional staff (Michel) attended to our every need. It is such a beautiful, comfortable, well maintained resort!
We were exploring the Appalachians in southwestern North Carolina (mid May 2022) when we stumbled across this beautiful little quaint town of "Highlands, NC. It is nestled in the mountains. What a find it was. Zero crime ! Young beautiful Albanian ladies told me they go for walks around town at night time and have never been bothered. The Old Edwards Inn is a 5 star Inn. The staff in unbelievable. We stayed in suite 21. Has heated marble floors in bathroom. Beautiful "courtyard" view with unprecedented quiet and privacy. The "wine garden" was magnificent as well with cascading crystal clear brook running through. There is not enough room here to say everything I want to say about this fantastic Inn. We ate at "Wolfgang's" a short walking distance. Just incredible food. (look for review) We look forward to staying at "Old Edwards Inn" again this autumn. A golfers paradise although we didn't play. (left our clubs home) Sky Valley Course is magnificent in appearance. I will review that also. Our suite cost $600. for one night. Cant wait to go back. worth every penny.…
We have stayed at almost all the different types of rooms (cottages) at OEI but stayed in the spa suites this time (directly above the spa); our first time in the "big house". Our experience this time was no different from all the other times we've stayed at OEI - perfect! It doesn't matter what the weather is or the time of year, and we've been there for all of it. The staff is always so friendly and anxious to do anything they can to make each stay perfect. My wife was a bit nervous being over the spa for noise but we heard no one! And, there are only four suites over the spa so it was exceptionally quiet. They weren't into full swing of summer yet so the terrace wasn't open yet but there are plenty of other places to hang out. We always enjoy walking around downtown and there's a great little hike right there at the inn. Take 4th street up the hill then stay straight onto Satulah Road. You get to a cul-de-sac at the top with a trail entrance at the end that continues out across the ridge to a point with awesome views. It's a pretty steep hike but definitely worth the views. If you're looking for a place to be pampered, OEI is the place. If the town and accommodations aren't enough to keep you coming back, the staff are!!…
Stayed here in celebration of Mother’s Day with my mom. We stayed in a spa suite, which was perfect. The room was big, clean, plenty of room for storage, nice balcony. The bathroom was to die for with a soaking tub and heated floors and towels. The staff at Old Edwards is the epitome of service, people are everywhere to help you and super happy and kind. The spa was great - I had the Sweet Mountain Metamorphosis and custom massage services as well as enjoying the steam room, whirlpool, and 14-head shower. We also enjoyed champagne and chocolate covered strawberries in our suite, sitting by the heated outdoor pool, and taking a guided hike. Breakfast and dinner at Madison’s were both excellent. Old Edwards is not cheap if you do it right but you get what you paid for and we had a perfect Mother’s Day celebration. Note: Book everything EARLY! Recommend at least 6-9 months in advance…
From the moment we checked in until the time we checked out the trip was everything we thought it would be. We were greeted with friendly and professional staff and that remained throughout our stay. The Spa was a great experience to include the restaurants but I would recommend calling way ahead and making reservations. If you are a couple wanting to get away look no further.
