Chose the Inn based on the internet..the pictures were wonderful but could not do the property justice. The fine details placed into each room and the property itself were above expectations. Would have been nice to have a TV, but this place is not meant for entertainment, it's meant for pure relaxation and reconnecting with nature. Can't beat the mountain... More

The fire and water dining experience is what you would hope to discover on any excursion, domestic or abroad. It is a hidden treasure, that once discovered, is whispered to others for fear of losing the intimacy. No worry! Hiram and Matthew successfully attract the repeat guest without catering to those interested in the next new "hot spot"

We visited the Fire Mountain Inn for a quick get away at the peak of fall. We reserved a week before departure, as we made plans very last minute. And what a wonderful find it was! We had been to the Highlands, NC area fifteen years before and had forgotten how beautiful it is. The Inn is only a short... More

My wife and I chose this Inn based on reviews we read about it and the surrounding area. The Inn exceeded my expectations. It was a combination of great service, excellent breakfast, immaculate grounds and rooms, and especially stunning views of the mountains and sunsets. The hiking nearby is excellent, the town of Highlands is quaint but also has excellent... More

Awesome! Private, secluded, great mountian views, great food, wonderful staff. Great get-a-way for a romantic few days or longer. Close to the Highlands offering shopping and good restuants as well. Great place for hiking!

This was our third rejuvenating visit to Fire Mountain Inn. This time we stayed in one of the cabins, having stayed at the inn previously. No TV, no phones, no worries. I actually read 2 actual non-electronic books while I was there. When did life get so crazy??? Hiram and Mathew are superb hosts. Since our last visit, FMI has... More

I can hardly find the correct words to describe the recent visit my husband and I had this past week @ Fire Mountain. Of course, the scenery is second to none with beautiful mountain vistas, wooded walking trails, autumn colors in the trees. But also the ambience @ Fire Mountain itself is also second to none. As quiet and relaxing... More

Fire Mountain Inn was restful, immaculate and included beautiful mountain vistas. The weather was gorgeous and fall colors were near peak all three days of our visit. The inn room in which we stayed was small but adequate. Breakfasts were quite delicious and served each morning by the innkeepers. We regret that dinners were not served on the evenings of... More

This was a wonderful 4 days of resting and renewal. Hiram and Mathew are gracious and helpful hosts who spent a good bit of time sharing insights, maps, information and helping us plan hikes, restaurants, and general exploring. The dinner they host is amazing. The food is delicious and well worth spending an evening on site, beginning with drinks, conversation,... More

Absolutely fantastic owners and the most serene setting we have experienced in the Western North Carolina mountains. Wonderful dining and hospitality and beautiful scenery. Highly recommended for couples looking for a relaxing getaway.
