A wonderful place that is super dog friendly. The rooms were nice and large with a terrific courtyard for sitting and relaxing. Upstairs there were nooks to sit and sip wine or just relax. The balcony overlooking the side street was just right and we had morning coffee there every morning. The lobby seemed small to have breakfast in but the selection for breakfast was one of the best that we have experienced. Every room has a doggy bed and dog snacks as well as bowls on the floor to feed your favorite puppy. It is a really nice touch. The area around Highlands has several nice waterfalls (one is right on the road) and hikes through the mountains from easy to hard and everything in between. The downtown shopping area is very nice and easily walkable with several higher end shops so, not all of them are t-shirt places. There are a plethora of eating establishments that are sure to satisfy your palette. We highly recommend this hotel for a stay in the area.

Everything I could find online about Park on Main seemed positive, but I had to wonder — A hotel that not just allows, but actually caters to dogs?!? How clean would it be? Would there be a doggy odor? We decided to take a chance, and, boy, are we glad! Every aspect of our stay has been DELIGHTFUL! The hotel is charming. Our suite (with balconies front and back) is comfortable, beautiful, and spotless. So are the lobby area and the courtyard. The staff has been friendly and accommodating. My husband, our two Frenchies, and I couldn’t have asked for more. We will be back!

This celebration weekend was one of the best times we'd had together. Even though it caters to dogs, you would never know it...the place was so clean. Everything about the room was great except the couch creaked and seemed to sag when you sat down on it. We loved the separation living and bedrooms. I wish there was an ice machine on our floor (2nd floor) rather than having to go to the basement garage. Breakfast was plentiful with yogurt, boiled eggs, bagels, sweet rolls, fruit, cereal, juices, coffee and hot tea. It was served in the nice lobby sitting area, small but that wasn't an issue since there are only 28 rooms and it's available 7 -10a. The best thing was the gorgeous courtyard that all the rooms open up to. Beautiful flowers were in full bloomed and along with the two fountains, benches, tables and chairs, it was a lovely place to sit for a drink or just to pass as you went to and from your room. It was also nice to have convenient free garage parking. Getting in the garage is a little tight, with a sharp 90° turn into it. We loved our time at The Park on Main and hope to return again, especially when the summer is so hot in Atlanta but it's nice and good in the Highlands!

We love Highlands. And we Bravely arrived from Atlanta on a very busy weekend WITHOUT a reservation. We had been to Highlands many times over the years and Had always avoided Main Street lodging out of respect for noise and space ...but the SPACIOUS AREA around THE PARK ON MAIN (TPOM) drew me into the lobby... THE LOBBY DECOR hooked me...and being mid afternoon prompted me to grab the last room without even noticing it's DOG FRIENDLY DECOR. Normally I would have FLED IMMEDIATELY. BUT WHAT DOGS... SUPER CLEAN. ..REPEAT - Super Super CLEAN‼️ And ALL THE EXCELLENT REVIEWS SUPPORTED the excellence of the property. My compliments to the owners AND ITS STAFF who make this happen. 1 request ONLY - Please have your STAFF REVIEW and ADDRESS FOOD OPPORTUNITY. "your NO LUNCH or DINNER or ROOM SERVICE" does NOT have to be SO NEGATIVE. Tired, we would have welcomed a " FOOD OPPORTUNITIES BHELP SHEET" from THE FRONT DESK on available Food Opportunity including any Delivery Services. PLEASE REACH OUT into YOUR FELLOW BUSINESS ESTABLISHMENTS FOR SOLUTIONS. Thank You for YOUR VERY NICE HOTEL... rated the #2 in town BUT NUMBER 1 to us...even with THE FOOD LIMITATIONS.

From the moment we arrived at Park on Main we were suffused with southern hospitality and a warm welcome by staff (almost as if we were visiting family). This boutique property has a small circular entry/driveway and within moments of arriving two of the warmest people came out to assist us decamping from our car. “Is this Jazzy”, referring to our 40 lb., 13 year old labradoodle? A water bowl at the front doors was a welcome refreshment for her after the “interesting” mountain drive to reach Highlands. Registration took a mere two minutes and I was escorted to our room while my wife parked the car in their easily accessed, small underground, secure parking garage. A conveniently located elevator swiftly brings guests back to the lobby. Our first impressions were so positive. A two minute walk from the intimate, warmly decorated, lobby had us walk by their interior gorgeous garden courtyard with two quietly bubbling fountains surrounded by flowers, plants and trees - like an arboretum. Our room was anything but formulaic. We entered a cozy living room area with a lush sofa and armchairs, a thick area rug under foot opening into the king size bed area. Spacious, roomy and not at all the typical hotel furnishings one gets at every chain - be it Four Season or Marriott. Plenty of dresser and closet space galore. The room oozes comfort and spaciousness. The coup de grace was the lush dog bed; ceramic dog bowls (on thick rubber surfaces) and a doggie towel awaiting our furry family member. The furniture was extremely comfortable for lounging, reading and/or TV watching (2 TV’s one in the LR area and one in the BR area). There is a fridge stocked with NO fee water bottles and sodas. (I really am offended by almost every hotel we stay at paying $6 - $12 for hotel room water bottles and $8 cans of soda). When traveling with Jazzy we needed a fridge for her fresh dog food. Perfect! P.S. Tops shelf wine bottles can be accessed at the front desk (my favorite vineyard - Duckhorn from Napa) was one option. Those were not free but the prices were market rates. We had 1.5 baths (the master bath was large) and I loved their ever so soft towels - plenty of towels! Our window looked out on Main Street but street sounds never penetrated the room. The interior window faced the garden alcove which had wrought iron, glass topped tables amid the flowers, fountains and foliage. We did sit out there sipping wine a few times in late afternoon, and with our morning coffee. So peaceful! The intimate lobby offers a fridge for guests stocked with complimentary juices, waters and sodas - oh, and let me not forget the bowls of wonderful cookies and the dog biscuit (treat) bowls for our pet. No there isn’t a hotel restaurant nor a bar but in a village like Highlands guests are step away from shops, dining and any form of retail therapy a quaint location like this can offer. Oh did I mention they have their own dog park a short walk from the Inn! Dog friendly is an understatement at Park on Main. With that said all our canine neighbors were well-behaved, friendly and quiet. I guess people who travel to this upscale vacation destination with their family dog(s) have well- trained pets. I never saw a pet “accident” and there is no “pet in residence smell” anywhere. If anything the property as a whole smells like it was just built - a fresh, clean new smell. The property is kept spotless! Rooms and common areas. They offer a morning complimentary breakfast for a light meal. Plenty of fresh breads, bagels and croissants; the requisite jams, cream cheeses, butters, jams and packaged fresh egg an/or sausage breakfast sandwiches to microwave; cereals and good coffee! We grabbed a light breakfast snack and coffee before heading out for a real breakfast in town later in the morning. No rush when on vacation! Overall, we recommend this property to pet owners, but there were many, many guests there without furry friends but were pet “appreciators” too. From our many chats with other guests at Park on Main my observation here reflect what they experienced as well. There is no doubt that the three of us will return to Park on Main next year and stay for a longer period. There is so much to do in this upscale mountain village and the surrounds that we didn’t scratch the surface this year. As you can tell we loved our stay at Park on Main!

The Park On Main at 205 Main Street in Highlands, NC has always been delightful. We’ve come here multiple times with our pups. They have treats and water for them. The Park is impeccable. Clean and fresh, it seems like it opened yesterday. The staff is always friendly. It is easy to walk to everything in Highlands. The Park On Main is our “go to” in Highlands, NC. I booked The Park on Main for my wife and granddaughter, and "service" dog, Diana a 4lb shiatsu, for two nights. I booked by phone, got a rate and confirmation #. When my wife checked in, she called, loved the hotel, and wondered why I paid so much (read nearly double confirmed price.. it was the best room in the hotel with a fireplace, two baths, etc). It was after office hours when I called the desk manager. He said I would need to contact the hotel general manager the next day as there was nothing he could do as the room I reserved was not available. I sensed a problem with no apparent or simple solution. You can imagine my angst in calling the next day to try and resolve the issue. I called and left a message, and a very busy general manager returned the call. Well, in today's "non-customer friendly" environment I was more than pleasantly surprised when she calmly asked about my issue, I explained my concern, and she said "I understand, I will fix it". Now, I felt that such a professional and considerate response was worth sharing. It also validates one of my travel beliefs that you get more than you pay for at a top-class hotel.. the essence of The Park on Main in the Highlands, NC.

Amazing! Traveling solo with my dog on my migration back North and the welcome could not have been warmer! This is an adorable boutique hotel that is super dog friendly! The room was gorgeous, all the little extras like treats for your dog upon arrival and cookies for humans made it extra special. The bathrobes in room were so soft! The dog park behind the hotel is so sweet. But it’s the staff that really put this place over the top! They could not have been more accommodating and kind. I can’t wait to return to this lovely hotel and sweet town in the Highlands, NC someday!

The only reason I gave this inn a one star review was their "basement' rooms in the 300 range and their uncaring staff. They expected an elderly couple, 78 years old, to navigate 14 narrow steps with their luggage. There were no offers of help. The young guy behind the desk had no desire to help and did not intend to help. There was no way to get the baggage cart to the room. Thankfully, a man in the room next door offered to help. The balcony for the room also overlooked the garbage cans...a wonderful view. I asked for another room, but was told none were available. However upon returning from dinner, I could see vacant rooms on the main level. They are probably in violation of the American Disabilities Act. Way over priced and even charged for parking in their garage without advising of the charge...really in Highlands. We go every year to Highlands, but won't make that mistake again.

Larry, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. Per your conversation with our GM, Pat, let us again offer our apologies for your disappointment in your accommodations. It was unfortunate we were unable to change the room you purchased as the Hotel was at full occupancy. Regarding the garage charge, management did view your bill and there is no charge, as parking is complimentary at The Park on Main. While our website does indicate the fact that several of our units are not accessible by elevator, we do realize in speaking with you we could possibly place more emphasis on that description. We hope you will give us another chance in the future.

In spite of being a hotel that encourages travelers to bring their dogs everything was very clean and quiet. Having a suite was wonderful as it is a quiet town in the evening therefore we had a comfortable place to sit after a walk through town. Bed was very comfortable, neither of us had any problems sleeping. Coffee, juice and bottled water is provided in the lobby at all hours, along with sugar cookies and dog treats if you have one. Great location for long walks through town or hiking in the surrounding area.
