We're just back from our second visit to the Echo Mountain Inn in the last year. It's a very friendly, homey and comfortable place to be. Like a trip to an old cabin with good friends. My wife is already talking about our next 1200 mile road trip to Hendersonville and the Echo Mountain Inn.

We have stayed at the Echo Mountain Inn several times over the last 4-5 years. It is a very comfortable, cozy, bed and breakfast with some spectacular views of the NC mountains and Hendersonville area. The location is perfect for going to the restaurants and shops on Hendersonville (and Asheville for that matter.). It is conveniently located minutes from excellent wineries and breweries as well. The breakfasts never disappoint. It is not like the typical hotel breakfasts; these are homemade, hearty breakfast buffets with healthy options and local items. The rooms are very comfortable with a boutique-style feel while fitting the motif of an “old inn” appeal. The rooms and entire facility is clean and well kept. Some rooms have fireplaces to add to the authentic mountain inn/romantic experience. I highly suggest requesting this option for your stay. This place is very special to us so I am a bit biased, but the new owners have done so many nice upgrades as far as painting and room updates along with enhancing the breakfasts even more than what I thought was capable. They have also invested in updates to the heating and cooling units in each of the rooms. Cable tv is available in the rooms as well as WiFi but you’re really missing the experience of staying at a historical inn if you’re worried about the tv. The booking process is very easy and the response time from the staff is excellent. We will continue to stay there on all of our trips to the Hendersonville/Asheville areas! We love the Echo Mountain Inn!

My boyfriend and I were traveling with no plans. We called Echo Mountain Inn because it is near one of our favorite spots, Jump Off Rock. We stopped in and one of the staff showed us the room before we booked it. They were so welcoming. We indulged in the hot sauna at the wellness center and enjoyed the small but clean pool area. We are in recovery and made a passing joke with the owner about having bourbon in one of the restaurant's delicious apple deserts. When we arrived for dinner that night, the owner had already told the chef about our journey in sobriety and the chef had prepared us a special desert with no alcohol cooked into it (yes, we know it cooks out). We felt like we were eating fine dining in "our" living room. When we return to the area, we WILL be staying here again.

I want to be fair in writing this review by first saying that we have stayed at a lot of B&Bs all over the country, including some top-rated places. For us, Echo Mountain Inn was a disappointment and did not compare. It is a lovely and quaint property in a location with a view. However, we found it to also be somewhat old and tired.
First, our room: The room had an unpleasant and stale odor the whole time we were there. I know the building is old, but the floors are the creakiest I've ever heard, and the floor was so uneven as to be walking up and down a hill. Not even a box of Kleenexes in the room. Fake flower arrangement that was so dirty, dusty and droopy it looked like it hadn't been touched in 10 years. Creaky bed, with one pillow that was so flat as to be useless, and the other so lumpy that it was uncomfortable. Tiny sink with the tiniest bar of soap I've ever seen. Now, the room was technically sufficient for sleeping a night or two, but it just lacked the personal touch and attention to detail that really sets a place apart.

As for breakfast, we were told upon check in that coffee would be ready around 7:30 each morning (before breakfast is served at 8:00). Well, not so much. No coffee, and a staff member who was clueless. Then we see the Keurig machine. So, you make your own coffee, and then you have to go search for water to fill the machine and there are no cups, so you have to find those too. Breakfast buffets generally present a problem in that it's hard to keep food hot and fresh, and invariably things run out and aren't replaced in a timely manner. We found both those issues here. Egg powder casserole, limp, lukewarm bacon, pastry from a box, and a very dry tasteless blueberry coffee cake. My husband said his milk was warm. And if you want a waffle, you have to make it yourself at the little waffle machine. Breakfast the 2nd day was the exact same thing.

I'm glad others had a better experience and even had some interaction with hotel staff. We were never approached by any staff to ask how things were, nor did we even see a staff member except for kitchen staff (and when we checked in). But, we didn't look either, so that's fine.

Now, some of this sounds petty, and I realize we all have different expectations. So I'm just saying that though it's a nice place in many ways, it just didn't meet our expectations in comparison to places we've stayed before. Last but not least, it was definitely NOT worth the $200 per night that we paid. I've paid less money for far better. I think Echo Mountain might be well served to drop the "B&B" moniker and just say they're an Inn, because there just isn't the personal touch and attention to detail that a really excellent B&B will provide. I will give 3 stars because it wasn't a total wash out, but for us it didn't come close to deserving 4 or 5 stars.

We wanted to get away from the heat near the coast, and decided to take a trip to the mountains. We stumbled across this hidden gem of a bed and breakfast online. The Echo Mountain Inn was the perfect choice. The main building was built in 1896 and has been lovingly maintained over the past century. The entire inside is filled with antique furnishings, floor to ceiling, wall to wall. We could have spent days just exploring inside. The grounds are filled with more varieties of trees and flowers than we could count on a weekend. We can't say enough about how beautiful it was there. Our room was called the blue ridge room. The four poster bed and the antique dressing table are just a few of the surprises, the biggest was an original fireplace! Just awesome! But the cherry on top of this great place was the home cooked buffet breakfast, served in the coolest dining room, with an abundance of windows overlooking the blue ridge mountains. Talk about an idyllic setting for a great meal to start your day. Not to mention the food, which beats most hotels we have stayed at, hands down! The inn is in the perfect location to explore the mountains for a weekend. Close to the quaint but bustling town of Hendersonville, and also to the many sights and activities the mountains have to offer. We felt more welcome and at home than we ever have anywhere we have stayed. If you get the chance to stay at the Echo Mountain Inn, do not hesitate! You will not be disappointed, we certainly weren't!

The Inn is located in beautiful Laurel Park, forested, quiet and offering great views of the surrounding mountains. We were greeted warmly and provided a brief tour of the Inn. Our most positive experience was enjoying two dinners at the Inns' restaurant. The menu offered nice choices at reasonable prices. The food was delicious and the waitresses very friendly and responsive.
Though a full breakfast was provided, it was quite repetitive (we ate breakfast 3 times) and disappointing in certain respects, For example, the only fruit was watermelon with a sprinkling of blueberries and blackberries on two of the mornings. It would have been inexpensive to add bananas or apples. My wife had a bagel one morning and it was very stale. The selection of boxed cereals was limited and mostly unappealing. On a positive note, the coffee was excellent.
The room left a lot to be desired, There is no other way to say it but the decor was garish and cheap. More importantly, the queen sized bed consisted of a 2" foam "pillow top" placed over the box springs. After removing the bedspread, it looked like the bed had not been made since someone slept in it. The sheet was wrinkled and bunched because the fitted sheet was too big for the 2" foam "mattress". The pillows were comfortable and we actually slept OK but the appearance is what we will remember. The bathroom, though small, was updated and very clean.

From the first moment pulling into the driveway this place has the look and feel of an old mountain inn. We were greeted and shown around and told about the history of this classic B&B built in 1896. We were told the restaurant had recently reopened and we should check it out. The rooms and service were above our expectations. Jump Off Rock is only a few miles up the road with some great hiking trials and views. The icing on the cake was when we walked in the restaurant for dinner. To say the food was world class is not an overstatement at all. Chef Tom has trained in Italy, worked in Charleston and it shows. The menu is simple but the dishes are plated beautifully and everything was absolutely mouth watering. Chef came out and explained the process of the smoked pork chop which was the best I've ever had. The breakfast was just as good. On Sunday they had lemon ricotta and blueberry pancakes folded and toasted and topped with brown sugar.....Needless to say I was blown away and cant wait to go back. Great shopping nearby too!

Echo Mountain Inn is a hidden gem and an excellent B&B option. We have stayed at the Inn twice and this time discovered staying in the Royal room is worth the money with the best view on the property. The food at the Inn is amazing. Since our last visit they have added a restaurant and served dinner Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night. We tried four different dishes and everything on the menu will exceed expectations. Locals are starting to discover the great food and dinner reservations are recommended.

We stayed in the rooms behind the Inn. We don't mind "old", in fact we like it but it was not a pleasant stay. The room next to us kept their TV blaring but we could still hear loud snoring. The room above us kept us awake until 2AM running and jumping across the floor. So I would say the walls are very thin. The Inn was full so parking was a challenge. Our bathroom was so small it was uncomfortable. There was no towel rack in the bathroom so you had to sit all your things on the toliet while you took a shower. The breakfast was terrible-I can't imagine who prepared it. Even my grandson who will eat anything wouldn't eat it. Nevertheless we ate dinner there because we heard a real chef ran the restaurant. Well he must have been off the night we were there. My veal dish was so thick and tough I couldn't cut it with a knife let alone chew it. My grandson's pork chop had so much fat he barely ate two bites. The waitress who removed our plates didn't question that our food was barely touched. There must be a staff shortage because they all seemed to be so gloomy, not at all friendly. The Inn is in a lovely location but I doubt we will stay there again.

Staff at Echo Inn were pleasant and willing to help. They were very appreciated. My wife and I stayed in the Quilt Haven room. We booked direct and got very reasonable priced for the stay. Even got special packages that got us significant gift cards for area merchants that were fantastic! Frankly, being from South Georgia, I was hesitant to drive over 6 hours for a vacation. We normally go the the beach and chill out. When my wife said she wanted to go to Hendersonville N.C. I said I wasn't going to do that. So we spent 5 nights and 6 days exploring the area. Room was comfortable. Beds were great. Television was mounted on the wall across the room and our older eyes couldn't see it well but we managed. They do not have room service unless you go to the desk and ask for help, but when I asked about it, the check in Lady was willing to go up and service the room. We declined but the offer was there. Bought my own tissue for the bathroom. The industrial paper provided was tougher than I was. We ate in the restaurant a couple of nights and the food was good. Warning: the appetizers were HUGE! Truffle fries were tasty but a big ole pile of them in a serving bowl. Same with the crunchy brussel sprouts. I felt terrible wasting them but the two of us could not eat all of it. When we came for breakfast in the morning, the food was fine. Even had some excellent grits one morning. It was clear though that each morning after the restaurant was open the night before, the floor was not swept and cleaned. I would recommend they sweep the floors on closing. My wife was right again and this vacation was very good. Downtown Hendersonville is excellent. The Elijah Gem Mine was a blast - we ended up spending two days digging in the dirt and got a new hobby - rocks! The folks working there were the greatest! Beautiful scenery and my wife spotted turkey, beaver and rabbit when driving up and down Echo Mountain. Carpe Diem!
