Hotel's Favorite
Good experience. Nice solid bed, lots of pillows. On the (slightly) down side the sink in the bathroom was the only thing that felt actually solid; one thought one was going to fall through the floor of the shower and the toilet wobbles a lot. But they survived.
The property is set well back of the highway so it's nice and quiet. I appreciate that and I got good sleep. I was a bit concerned with all the guys hanging out in the parking lot; I've met tons of people in my life and never yet met anyone whose idea of a good time was to go hang out in the parking lot of a motel. But when the sun came up everything was intact.
The receptionist was very nice, going out of her way to make sure I got my Choice Privileges points and even making me up a card to track them. But then on checkout the morning person tried to get me to sign a statement saying that I would NOT be getting those points, so that was a strange bait-and-switch. I refused to sign it. Overall a good, restful stay.

Many places in the south feel gross and sticky but this place was pretty clean feeling with working AC. Beds were doubles so kind of small but over all pretty nice for the price we paid for it. Did not go swimming but pool looked liked a good size.

No elevator. We had to haul our suitcases up and down 2 flights of stairs. You'd think they'd offer to do it for you. We wandered around looking for the elevator and a maid told us there was none. I think they should of told us at check in and offered to help us 65ish year old. No handicap access either, so beware. We only stayed here one night, Thank God. Pool was not clean. We won't be back.

My family and I (11 people total - 6 children under the age of 13) stayed for one night at this location. I reserved 3 rooms months in advance. This was simply a stopover on the way to a local attraction. We arrived at 3:30pm - a half hour passed the check-in time. We were told our rooms were not yet ready and the front desk staff would text me in approximately 30 minutes when the rooms would be ready. We had several small sleeping children so we opted to let them sleep in running cars with AC and adult supervision. The older children were given permission by hotel staff to use the pool. I waited with the older children by the pool. After 30 minutes I had no contact from staff so I went back inside to the front desk. I was told the rooms were still not clean and they would let me know when we could be in them. I checked with the front desk staff 2 more times and another adult in my party also asked if the rooms would be ready. We were told the hotel was fully booked and they could not make other accommodations for us. However, we were able to log into the hotel website and clearly see that they were still taking reservations and had available rooms. I finally told the front desk staff that I would be expecting a refund since we were unable to use rooms we were paying for. Finally at 5:30pm, we were told that the hotel staff rearranged reservations to give us rooms that were already cleaned. I do not mind paying for a hotel room when I am able to use it, but this was utterly ridiculous!

We stayed three nights here so we could look around the area. The pool was closed but it wasn’t posted anywhere on the website. Our room stayed damp and smelled of mold. It was noisy and hardly anyone was there but construction workers. Very disappointed in the Quality Inn

Don't be fooled by these pictures! The hotel is in good shape in the main areas but that's it! The furniture is falling apart, the beds are GROSS!! We had to change rooms once because the shower didn't work and the hot water never works! You have to run the water for at least 10 minutes to get hot water! The toilet didn't flush in our room so my husband went to find someone to help and they were rude to him. I could go on but you get the point. This was our first stay at a Quality Inn and definitely our last!!

On checking in they wanted a $50 damage deposit. I have never been asked for that anywhere. I wonder if I will get it back. The coffee was not very good, bad really.. it seemed clean enough. The Wi-Fi was out. The tv was fair. I do wonder about the damage deposit

Response from General Manager, General Manager at Quality Inn Near MCAS Cherry Point
Responded May 31, 2023
Dear Guest, The incidental charge (Damage deposit) is just an authorization. The authorization hold is not a charge. It is a hold which returns to your account usually within 10 to 15 business days. We released your authorization on our end when we processed your check out. After that, it is entirely in the bank's hands on how quickly they release your authorization. Unfortunately, we have no control on how fast the bank processes the release of your authorization. Thank You for staying with us!

Had to grab a room last minute on Christmas day, check-in was great. While staying there, we noticed a huge COCKROACH in the room!!! Absolutely disgusting. We went to check-out right after and I told the manager about it and all she said was "Ok, well housekeeping is up there now, Have a great day"...Really? You couldn't even offer us a credit or anything! Ridiculous. Never again will I stay here. *I have pictures for proof.*

My wife and I recently stayed in this hotel, because we didn't want to pay peak season beach hotel prices. Overall, the place is decent. Here are some basic pros and cons of the hotel itself.
Pros:
Sufficient lighting in the parking area
Clean room and sheets
A/C worked great
Surprising breakfast for an Econo Lodge
Cons:
Smoke smell in hallway
No elevator, hot stairwell
Evening front desk personnel
When we checked in, Debbi was standing outside smoking a cigarette. When we walked past her, she said, "Y'all checking in?" Then, when we got to the front desk, the complaint fest began. I think she complained about everything but the president. She complained about other guests (a Navy group of 20) who insisted on having non-smoking rooms. She said they just needed to toughen up. Debbi also complained about the overnight front desk guy, saying he wasn't going to do any folding, so she had to do it. (Interestingly enough, we met him early the next morning, and he seemed like a nice guy) She complained about the cleaning staff, saying that they didn't do everything they were supposed to. She complained about Priceline overbooking rooms. She complained about not having time to get out to her car and clean it out, because it was too hot, and she was planning to take her kids out of town the next day. Her complaining continued ad nauseum. She wasn't ugly to us, but at the rate she was going, I was wondering if we would somehow make it on her complaint list for the next guest to hear about!
Dear manager, Debbi needs to have a good talking to, or she is going to run away guests. My wife understands the rigors of front desk life, having worked front desk in a hotel for several years herself, but this kind of behavior is unacceptable.

Responded Jul 17, 2018
Dear Daniel, Thank you for your precious time in leaving us feedback. First off, I truly apologize for the complaints you had to hear during your stay with us. The last thing my employees should be doing is complaining to our guest about their work duties. I did want to inform you that she no longer works for me. Her behavior was unacceptable. On the other hand, I was happy to hear that you enjoyed your room and our morning breakfast. If you and your family decided to visit the Havelock area again, I would love if you could give us another chance. Please give me a call personally and I will take care of you. Thank you for staying with us and once again, I am so sorry for the issues during your stay. Heather Whichard, General Manager
