our biggest surprise was the fact that our "private bathroom" required us to leave our Oceanicus room and venture out into a public hallway for access. This was not stipulated anywhere on the web site that we noticed. Staff were very nice, meals were great. Wee hour train horns may bother some folks.

We had no idea what we were getting into.........what a wonderful surprise. The Inn, itself, is the museum of Presidents which is amazing especially with Chef Marti (owner) as the guide. The breakfasts were amazing AND our cooking class so inspiring to get back to cooking. Did I mention we ate what we cooked and it was delicious. Our room...

This is the most fascinating, intriguing B&B I have stayed in in over 55 years of travel. Located in a small town just off the NC and SC border, near Kings Mountain National Military Park and Cowpens National Military Park, it is truly unique. Chef Marti and his wife Stormy have turned an 1879 classic home into a combination B&B,...

I make it a habit of frequenting historic B&B’s because in my own small way I feel like I am contributing to the preservation of the property. In the last 40 years I have stayed in over a hundred different properties in different countries and met so many interesting people. While the 129 year old Hambright mansion is certainly not...

Marti (1/2 of the husband and wife proprietors) and staff were well organized and gracious hosts. When we arrived, the Inn was locked down as it was too early in the day. We tooled around the local area and ventured over to Lake Lure, about an hour away on crowded US Highways but arrived on time to tour the small...

Came to the Inn for a museum tour and cooking class with two of my dear friends. Both activities were outstanding. Marty, historian, owner and chef is highly knowledgeable and quite articulate. We had such a good time that we will definitely return. I highly recommend the experience!

Room was great, they have gone to a great deal of trouble and expense to locate period artifacts for each of there rooms. Also there hospitality and attention to detail are top notch. I would recommend this B&B for anyone.

The Presidential Culinary Museum is a feature of the Inn. The owners have a collection of memorabilia contained in several glass cases throughout the B& B. Chef Marti provides an entertaining insight into the world of white house cuisine. The tour, as well as the opportunity to take in a cooking class with a master chef, are available without staying...
