I spent the Christmas holiday season and my birthday there and I had a blast. There was a big tree in the main room and it was festive throughout the B & B. It was great to see all of the historical memorabilia throughout the museum portion of the B & B. Lots of great stuff. The host Martin Mongiello gladly provided information about all of the displays and Presidents. The Obama exhibit was of grand interest to me. The rooms were superb, but my room was pleasurably decorated with a nature feel to it. Comfortable bedding, and decor made you feel at home. The meals were mouth-watering, with my favorite being a vegetable linguine with shrimp in a garlic butter sauce. With a mixed green salad, with peppers, mushrooms, watermelon, blueberries, and more. To wash down those flavors I had flavored sparkling water. I say this that I generally do not celebrate the holidays and surely not my birthday (which is three days after Christmas), but after spending a week there I have a new way to celebrate and enjoy the holidays and I expect everyone else to do the same. We were made to feel right at home from the first moment. The food is excellent, of course. Marty gave us a museum tour with lots of stories from his time as a White House Chef. There is a theater room for movies with fresh hot popcorn and candy counter. Marty and Stormy even let our friends from the local area come and join us for the day. If you are traveling anywhere near Grover be sure to stay at the Inn for a truly unique experience. Or just go there anyway, it will be worth it. Marty and Stormy are the nicest people you could ever meet and benevolent. They have a little free library and keep a food bank for those in need. They make the world a better place.

We enjoyed the Southern Hospitality, the fabulous breakfasts and historical contents of such a beautiful Inn! We celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary and my birthday during our weekend visit. Thank you Marti for the lovely birthday surprise!

My husband and I have stayed at several B & B's over the years and I have to say the Inn of the Patriots is the most unique. When we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Chef Marti who made us feel right at home. Delicious, homemade cupcakes, white chocolate bark, oatmeal raisin cookies, and other goodies awaited guests as they arrived. With all those gracious offerings, I didn't mind so much paying the $2 for the apple cider from the Keurig. The hospitality and the breakfast were excellent! Pumpkin pancakes with a cream cheese sauce and another homemade peach sauce were phenomenal and Chef Marti kept hot pancakes coming as long as the guests wanted them. Also, there was fruit, muesli, grits, sausage, and potatoes with homemade ketchup. All of it was superb! After breakfast, Marti shared some history of the area and took us to view a glass cabinet containing his English royalty collection, then his Jaquelyn Kennedy Onnasis collection, and finally the new Trump items he just received. Each collection was contained in a small- or medium-sized curio cabinet. It may seem out of place to see plastic food items in the cases, but you are at a culinary museum! These items prompt interesting stories from Marti. We stayed in the quirky, but super clean, Polynesian room. If you've read any of the reviews, it's a bit odd of a layout for a "bathroom" but you'll have a new story to tell. How many of your friends can say they've actually taken a shower in a closet? :) Consider it an adventure! Another unique quality about the inn is the eclectic mix of decorative items in the rooms. I believe another inn is needed so they can spread out their collections. There were no thick bathrobes in this room, but there were beautiful, thick towels and the bed had super soft sheets. The room was immaculately clean as was the rest of the inn. One important thing to note is that the historic tours vary daily. You may, or may not, hear or see what you were hoping to, so be sure to ask prior to booking. However, you'll still find the extent of Marti's knowledge (and his various accents) fascinating, no matter which tour you receive. Plus, visitors are welcome to browse around and read about the other cabinet displays which may not have been covered in their tour or schedule another visit.

Spent 3 nights at this charming B&B in a really out of the way location. Made reservations there because it was available during the World Equestrian Games in North Carolina! I was prepared to not be too impressed, but happily it didn't turn out that way. It was a wonderful experience! The breakfasts were great with new dishes each day. Marty was a fantastic host with so many stories to keep us engaged. The whole house is a fabulous museum but we didn't have enough time to explore it fully. Another stay at a later date should remedy that.
