A beautiful little hideaway for rest and relaxation amongst nature in its finest! Quaint, charming and warm mansion house from early 20th century. The host Mr. Pantelis is welcoming and very informative about the surrounding area and can guide you about many nature excursions. I highly recommend it! I would definitely visited it again! Not to mention the excellent breakfast that can be provided, all from homemade local products.

The guesthouse is clean, cozy and quiet place. The best experience was the owner, Mr Pantelis. He took the best care of us. He served the most delicious breakfast, all fresh! He also helped us with the organizing and scheduling of our excursions and mini trips around the Rodopi mountains. A lifetime experience! Thank you!

We spent 3 nights at Archontiko. We would happily go there again. It was a wonderful experience. The hosts were excellent and very enthusiastic, ready to help us, provide information and answer any question. The location was amazing, the breakfast was exceptional. The villa is authentic and romantic, yet spacious with full comfort. The garden is beautiful with view of the valley. Great hiking routes and activities for children. Lots of variety for adventurers of quiet and unexplored destinations in Greece. Great local food opportunities as well.

The first time I came to Archontikobas a guest, it was almost three years ago, on Easter time, together with my two teen kids and another family of a friend and her two children. Since then I have visited countless times and whenever I get some time off and want to relax and get away from the busy city life, I ran to the place... It has been revealing for us all! First of all the setting is so beautiful you simply cannot imagine! For nature lovers, it is just perfect, as it is on the edge of the village of Stavroupoli, overlooking the mountains and the beautiful Nestos river, which you can hear at all times, despite you can't really see it from the village. Archontiko consists of a beautifully restored old stone house, wonderfully and tastefully decorated by the onwer's lovely wife, Stella, with unique objects and old-like furniture, creating such a cosy atmosphere that you feel like being at home! The house sits in the middle of a beautiful garden and if you are lucky enough to visit in spring, around May, you will be amazed by the unstoppable, melodical bird singing you can hear all day and all night long! Another amenity you should definitely try while being there, is the wonderful breakfast that the owner himself, Pantelis, usually prepares for you by himself, every morning! It is simply the best breakfast I've ever had in my life, except maybe at another beautiful guest house in Pilion years ago .. It is full of local natural or homemade products, prepared with much love and care for the guest by Pantelis and it can be your full meal for the day! You will only need to eat again in the evening! It feels like you are a true guest at a local's place and not just another customer. Actually, at the end of the day, it is the people you meet who make the experience worthwhile and meeting Pantelis, the onwer of Archontiko, is certainly a wonderful experience! He loves his home village and the surrounding nature so much, you can tell by the enthusiasm he explains to you all the things you can do while staying there, and - trust me - you can blindfully follow his suggestion to have the guaranteed best experience of whatever there is to do and visit and see in the area! And, boy, there is a lot to do and experience while being there!! From exploring the beautiful river of Nestos by boat, by another nature lover, George, to walking on the mountain trails amidst unspoiled nature, amazing waterfalls and wild animals of different kind, to wandering in the little allays and hallways of the beautiful nearby city of Xanthine, to taking hot natural baths up in the Pomakohoria, to enjoying wonderful lunches or dinners in unspoiled tavernas up on the mountains to just sitting under the platanus tree in the peaceful village square and sipping a warm cup of Greek coffee, to sitting outside in the wonderful garden of Archontiko, just relaxing by reading your book or just gazing at the horizon and the beauty you have right in front of you and listening to the birds singing, every now and then a firefly passing in front of you at night... All in all a wonderful, unparalleled total experience. A must go.

We stayed for 3 nights at this lovely old guest house. The shining glory of this establishment is the owner Pantelis, who's enthusiasm for this glorious region is contagious. His amazing knowledge of this area can ensure you are able to have the best time you have here. Breakfast is of high quality and varied each morning. The joy of sitting outside with a coffee listening to woodpeckers, cuckoos and a dozen other birds was a delight each day which I missed at our other destinations. The guesthouse has lots of information available of the surrounding areas to keep you busy for weeks. The one item I didn't like was the creaking floorboards in our room which was annoying at times, however if/when we return to this area this is the guesthouse we shall stay at.
