This RV park is well maintained, very clean and steps from the beach. The staff was friendly, helpful and always doing something to beautify the property. We have a self-contained motorhome so we did not use the bath house. You have to pay a $5 deposit to be given a key card if you intend to use it. It looked clean on the outside but we didn't see the inside. The site we had was not huge but it was comfortable and we spent most of our time at the beach anyway. There is a rule that outdoor rugs must be a breathable material and no bigger than 5x7 feet.
We simply folded our rug in half. Some reviews complain about the level of noise for the Sunday church service sound check at 7:30 am. We were very close to the pavilion and we could hear the music inside our camper as they were setting up for the service. To us, it wasn't nearly as bad as some guests made it out to be. And the music snippets that we heard actually sounded quite good. There are a lot of 9 month residents set up in permanent sites around the entire perimeter of the park. They have a rule about upgrading these permanent campers every 15-20 years (depending on the model) so the park looks very new and well kept, not old and run down like you see at some parks. We visited in November so the campground was pretty scarce - not many overnight campers around. There are many great restaurants in the area and the beach is beautiful! There are plenty of trash cans and recycling bins set up and they are emptied routinely. We didn't find any trash lying about. It is about a 2 mile walk on the beach from the campground to the Bogue Inlet Pier, which my husband and I did every morning with our dogs. The beaches are dog friendly as long as Fido is leashed and cleaned up after. We can't wait to go back!

We have been bring our Family to The Holiday Trav-L-Park for six years, we absolutely love it. Extremely Family Friendly. Play Ground for the children, kids riding bikes, skate boards and Hover Boards on the paved roads around the grounds, Beautiful Pool, gated entrance where they greet you and show you to your spot. For first timers, the staff is always eager to help in anyway they can.
Most of the staff has been there long enough to know how to help. The park is just on the other side of the Dunes from the ocean. The staff at HTP are the nicest people we've ever met. The cleanliness of the grounds is impeccable, only camp ground where you do not see huge trash Bends on every corner. They pick up your trash twice a day at your site. We have made this our get away spot. This was the first Campground we used where we bought our RV and we have compared every place to this HTP. Ronnie (owner) has worked hard over the past 44 years to make this a great family campground and it shows. Thank you HTP❤

We have stayed at Holiday Travel-L-Park for many years and there are definitely more campsites now, but they still do a great job keeping the campground clean and quite.
Located right on the beach, behind a very tall sand dune. There is a small bagel/coffee shop, nice pool and small go cart race track... all right at the campground. Short drive to Ingles grocery store, which is new. There are paved paths that make it easy to ride your bike or take a walk.

I have been visiting this resort for 30 years. I have watched it go from a beautiful campground where you could enjoy nature and the beach to the crowded RV park that it is today. Golf carts are zipping everywhere all day. Walking to the beach from the orange section is claustrophobic because of the numerous enormous RVs lining both sides of the road. Free internet with one bar, so don't expect much. No campfire rings, nor can you have a campfire unless it is in a pit 2 feet off the ground. The prices are too high for tent/pop-up campers that use a fraction of the water and electricity that the palaces on wheels use. On the up side, the bathrooms stay immaculate and the staff is very friendly. We will not be going back. This park lost the serenity of beach camping and went where the money is. It is a little sad.

We're sorry to hear that :( Over the course of 30 years things have definitely changed as more and more people discover us. We have had to adapt our campground quite a bit over the years and we know that certain things are not the way they used to be. Other than the price and the golf carts, we really do hope you enjoyed the time you spent with your family here on the island. Keep in mind the busiest times to come camping are weekends and from May - August. If you're worried about the crazy busyness of the campground, we recommend coming to camp with us in the Spring or the Fall. The weather is amazing and it's not as crowded. You should definitely try coming in September and give us another shot! Take care and we do hope to see you again sometime in the future :)

The park is in a prime location and the facilities are modern and very well kept. However, if you want to be blasted out on Sunday morning with speakers providing the park with a Christian church service, then this is the place for you. We are certainly not opposed to such activities, but were shocked when it was so loud that we couldn't hear ourselves on our picnic table. We requested that the service be turned down just a bit, but they told us we could leave if we didn't like it.

Thank you for the compliments on our facilities and campground! We apologize if the music was too loud for you and your group - our intention is never to upset a guest with an inconvenience with any event that we have at our stage area. We open our church services to both resort guests and the public and when there is a larger crowd, our church group does turn the volume up a bit for some praise and worship. I am not sure what was said between you and the owner and how the situation was handled but I can assure you he means well, although his temperament may show otherwise. The church services we have mean quite a bit to him and he can be short-tempered when anyone says something negative about them. I do hope that you come back to stay with us during a different time. If you ever have any issues during your stay all you have to do is ask for me and I will do my best to take care of the situation.

This is our third time staying at this campground and it gets better every year. The owner clearly reinvests in the facilities each year and it shows. The bath houses, the pool, the beach walkways and even the sites themselves are well cared for and very clean. All of the seasonal sites are well kept, many with flowers out front adding a nice touch to the transient nature of the rest of the campground. The pool area is clean and tidy. Everyone is always so friendly, staff and guests alike. We look forward to returning next year!

This is "hands down" our favorite campground! The site are huge, the park is clean, you never see an overflowing trashcan or empty dispensers in the bathrooms. Bathrooms are always clean and cool!
Our only complaints, 1) the wifi is not good at all. We've stayed before and it was patchy but not as bad as it was this year. I know that's not a guarantee but if it's advertised as an amenity it really should be at least a bit more reliable. 2) while the laundry facilities are nice and clean, it cost me $10 to wash and dry one load of laundry. That seems excessive considering that the cost of lot rental is about the same as condo rental and many condos have W/D included in rent.
We will always come back here because we love the park and the staff are awesome. If necessary, we'll live with the few drawbacks because everything else makes this a great place to enjoy the beach ⛱️

Holiday Travel Park remains our favorite place to camp. We've been coming here for the last several years and tell our friends to give it a shot. Yes, I agree with the reviews that it's pricey. It's more than twice what I pay at other campgrounds, but I don't camp anywhere else with bathrooms that have always been squeaky clean, or seen such constant attention to trash pickup right down to the smallest pieces of litter. It takes staff to do that, and i can appreciate that the park is well staffed.
Also, the wifi was SO much better this year thanks to extenders mounted throughout the campground.
My only hope... what would put this place over the top... would be a fenced dog area. Our dood loves to camp, and it would be nice to have a place to turn him loose and let him run off some energy chasing a ball or Frisbee. Hope management will consider this at some point in the future!

Customer service was excellent! I had a oceanfront site. Upon arrival to the site, backing in was tight due to neighbors truck positioning. Everyone came out to see if they needed to move their vehicles. Staff called to get the tractor to back it in so it didn’t disturb anyone. That was awesome! The site was spacious. I didn’t feel like I was in top of my neighbors utilities. Semi level. Amenities were nice & clean. Only thing that bugs me anywhere is people placing towels on chairs at the pool & they are not there. I will definitely be back with my kids. My girlfriends & I had a wonderful girls trip. Everyone was friendly. The staff was efficient & always willing to assist.

I have camped multiple weeks every year at HTP for more than 17 years, 3 visits this year and it is by far the nicest place with the nicest people. However, with raising 2021 rates by 35 to 40% over 2020 is unreal and certainly is the start of pricing the average family out of affordable vacations. I get that they are taking advantage of the pandemic and the massive demand in camping, good luck with your new business strategy as we sadly will not be returning again with rates of $145/night in the red section. Thank you for your many wonderful years of service, we will miss you. I am giving you the 5 star rating that you deserve for the hard work, hopefully prices will return to a better rate when the pandemic becomes history.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review! 17 years is such a long time, we hate to see you go :( Our rates did jump quite a bit, but we have thrown in a few things that we used to charge extra for (early check-in, late check-out, 50 amp service, golf cart passes). But either way, yes, we did increase the rates. We definitely appreciate the 5-stars because everyone here works extremely hard to make sure that every single one of our guests enjoys their stay and has an amazing time. Take care and we hope that you'll reconsider coming to camp with us this year!

I can't speak for this business, but it's often an insurance thing. Owners will not be covered under the "vicious dog" clause. Not saying its fair or unfair, just the way it is.

Do kids pay the 5 domar charge??
Answer from htp
Emerald Isle, North Carolina2 contributions
The only time you would pay an extra $5.00 per person is if your party is more than (4) people. All kids aged 5 years and younger don't count towards that (4) person occupancy so in that case you would not pay extra for them. Does that answer your question?
Answer from htp

Hey! As long as the fencing does not go onto another campsite or in the road and stays within the space of your campsite it's completely fine :) Many people that come to visit us bring small fences like that.

You are more than welcome to bring a portable fire pit so long as it is self-contained and off the ground. Each site comes with a picnic table as well. Please feel free to call us a the office if you have any other questions!
