This hotel was our choice between less expensive hotels with terrible reviews, and more expensive hotels out of our budget. It's an older hotel with outside entry just off main Highway 17 near the hospital and College of the Albemarle. Although it's several miles away from the downtown area, there are a Captain D's, McDonald's, Food Lion, Dollar General and Chinese carryout nearby.

On check-in the owner upgraded us from two double beds to a king, without our asking. The king room may not have used in some time. There was no soap and no facial tissue. The room decor was not inviting, in shades of brown. Two of the same picture hung side by side. There was a brown reclining chair but we did not use it. One side of the bed made a scraping metallic noise when sat upon but was otherwise comfortable. The towels were thin and coarse. We did not make coffee or tea but noticed that unwrapped foam cups were provided.. The main problem, however, was the floor. It was not level, in a first floor room, and my husband and I had significant balance issues that scared us until we realized the problem.

There is no breakfast at this hotel although it obviously has been offered in the past. Things we liked were that the room was clean, we heard no road noise and the fridge had a freezer component. I would not stay again without checking the room first.

This place was a really nice place to stay while driving to the Outer Banks. We came here after our first hotel a few miles away was a nightmare and we were very pleased with how clean and comfortable the room was for us. It smelled clean and everything worked great, along with a spacious bathroom. The decor was updated and the beds were quite comfortable. We would definitely stay here again and we’re glad we found this place.

Not a bad stay on a budget. The rooms were spacious and comfortable.
The housekeeping needs a lot more training.
The best part and really the only reason why we stayed for a few months, is all because of the manager Brittany.. She's there 24/7 dealing with noise complaints at 2am (sorry Brittany 😊), stupid requests and a multitude of other issues. In my opinion, such as it is, she deserves a very large raise, and a vacation.. If we're ever back in the area, she will be the reason why we stay here..

Hands down the cleanest and most comfortable place to stay. I saw the other reviews online and chose this one over other lodging facilities in town. The staff truly cares about their place of work. See you guys next year !

The front desk manager (I think her name was Britney... sorry if not) was super helpful and kind! She gave me the best deal I could find off any hotel site. The room was comfortable and quiet. I would definitely recommend to any traveler passing though :)

This hotel was a great value. The whole place was bright and clean. The staff was very friendly. The room had plenty of space for my family of five. The booking process was very easy. It felt like a very safe place to stay as well. I wasn't sure what to expect as it didn't have a brand name I was familiar with, but we felt blessed to find this hidden gem.

My family and I were looking for a place to stay for the night on a recent road trip. Since we'd be getting in late and leaving first thing in the morning, we didn't want to spend more than we had to on a hotel room. The Travelers Inn turned out to be a good fit.

Pros:

-Friendly staff
-Good location
-Clean room
-Nice bathroom
-Free wifi

Cons:

-rooms a little small
-25 cents to use the hotel ice machine
-price not bad, but not great either

I have included two pictures in my review. If you have any questions, please let me know.

We decided to stay in Elizabeth City on the way to the beach and made reservations online for a non-smoking room. The website stated that they were pet friendly. When we arrived and they found out that we had a dog, they gave my husband a key for a smoking room. We walked in and it smelled horrible, but more importantly we have a toddler with asthma, so I asked my husband to go back to the office and request the NON-smoking room THAT WE HAD BOOKED. He came back from the office, air freshener in hand, because they refused to give us a smoke free room.

We decided that we were basically screwed with nowhere else to go, and just prayed that our son didn't end up in the emergency room (which has happened). We settled down to sleep with our squirmy toddler and quickly discovered that they don't use FITTED SHEETS. There was a mattress cover with a top sheet tucked under the mattress, so all night the mattress kept becoming exposed. This was absolutely disgusting.

I will never stay here again. The customer service was ridiculous, and these little issues could have been easily fixed. I will never forget the image of my husband walking back to our room with a bottle of industrial air freshener they'd given him. Thanks a lot.

We apologize about any inconvenience you may have incurred during your stay in Elizabeth City. Our hotel does have designated rooms that are pet friendly for those who travel with their pets. Our guests' comfort is our priority. If any requests are made by a guest, we try to ensure we make the guests' stay as comfortable as possible. The only way our hotel may have not given a non-smoking room is if the reservation was made as a smoking room. We would have been more than happy to change rooms if non-smoking rooms were available. Since we did not have any non smoking rooms available and the reservation was a smoking room, our front desk attendant was courteous to give a smoke eliminator spray to ease the smoke odor. Once again we do apologize about the inconvenience. We are updating our bedding and our renovation is almost complete and hope you try us out again in the near future!

I stayed 3 nights on business and switching hotels was not an option. I do not know what my company paid for the room so I can't rate the value. My advise is to bring flip flops as it is quite evident that this motels vacume cleaner is either broken or non-existant. A very musty and dusty room. Those who suffer from asthma or allergies should not stay here! It took over an hour each morning after leaving the room for my sinus cavities to clear. Linins were a little moth eaten but appeared to have been washed recently. A co-worker staying in another room said his bed sheets had cigarette holes. The walls were dirty and in need of repainting. The fushia and yellow walls along with the red carpets are quite arresting. The paint scheme did nothing to create a relaxing environment. Although there is no coffee maker in the room there is a one in the office as well as wheat flakes and packaged danish for the continental breakfast. If you ask the managers to brew up a pot of coffee they will. A good number of the people staying in the motel were actual residents so maybe they are trying to cut operating costs or limit available services to them. The motel is built facing a busy highway but the constant drone of the a/c drowns it out pretty effectively.

I have never written a bad review on any place I have ever stayed. But I feel the need to post this on everything I can. First of all, let me say that the owners are very nice people. I don't think they know what they are doing wrong. They have purchased an old, beaten up, outdated piece of property. and painted it with ugly colors. There was no HBO as advertised. If you want ice, it will cost you 25 cents. The TV's are old. I paid $70 per night. I did note the cancellation policy before I booked: One night's rate. There was a torrential rain, and I had driven very far. I was so tired, and it was very dark, or I would have gladly forked over the $70 and moved elsewhere and paid more. The bathroom was clean, but the shower had very low water pressure. The carpet was filthy, and the room smelled funny. The sheets were polyester. While I slept, I was bitten all over by bugs I never saw. After I returned home, I was very sick for two weeks with the flu. I am never sick. I will stay elsewhere if I ever return to Elizabeth City.
