Our stay was very welcoming with an extremely refreshing gin & tonic on arrival. Mel was very helpful and knowledgeable and we joined him for dinner at a lovely waterside restaurant. The breakfast met up with the excellent expectations of the reviews. The house is magnificently presented, spacious and very comfortable. Mel is a delightful hoast his generosity demonstrate by the donation of his pick up truck to those who had lost everything as result of Hurricane Dorian which had devastating effect on those close by. A very memorable and enjoyable stay at Foreman House.

Just returned from spending the night at the Foreman House Inn. Mel is an incredible inn keeper who serves a mean breakfast. Enjoyed the Charleston Suite and it was further enhanced when arriving for breakfast and being told the eggs benedict with a side of crab was the entree for this morning. Couldn't have been happier. My favorite breakfast of all time. Eggs were excellent but what really sent it over the top was the fresh lump crab meat as an additional accompaniment. Have stayed in many B&B's across the lower 48, but this was by far the best breakfast we have ever been served.

Mel graciously hosted my co-worker Dana and me on a recent trip to Elizabeth City. He welcomed us into the B&B by taking our bags up this gorgeous staircase with walls lined in art and lovely antiques. Both of our rooms were beautifully appointed and honestly quite massive in size. Each room had an en-suite bathroom and I was quite pleased with how clean and fresh everything was. At 5:30 pm we joined Mel for wine and charcuterie before heading out on the town for dinner. We shared a lovely conversation about life, furniture, and Elizabeth City. Before going to bed, Mel made sure he had our breakfast order promising that he could accommodate any request. We told him what time we were waking up and in the morning he even put trey served fresh coffee right outside of both of our rooms. This B&B is a perfect place to stay if you are in Elizabeth City. Mel, thank you for being a fantastic tour guide, Elizabeth City historian and fabulous host. If either of us is in the area again I know we will look to stay with you. Thank you! - Hailey & Dana

We had reservations at another B&B in Elizabeth city but due to an emergency, the Proprietor has to cancel at the last moment so we went on a search for other accommodations. Thankfully, there was an available night at Foreman House. Mel is really a treasure - he has many years of experience in the hospitality industry and cares that his guests are well taken care of. The house is decorated in a wonderful eclectic style. We enjoyed a delightful time visiting in the evening with other guests and Mel, munching on fruit and cheese. Breakfast was plentiful - apple pancakes were served along with eggs cooked to order and bacon all presented in a lovely way. We stayed in the Audubon Room, which was gigantic! My only comment was the hot water in the bathroom sink was very difficult to get warm and water pressure was not great. I’m sure this can happen in these old homes. We would stay again if we are ever in the area.
