This hotel was way better than expected. Staff was especially friendly, greeting us anytime we walked by the front desk. The ladies who watched over the free breakfast buffet always smiled & said good morning each day. The breakfast buffet had 2 waffle irons, 3 hot items each morning, and the usual continental breakfast items. The hot items changed each day - scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes; scrambled eggs, bacon, french toast; omelettes, biscuits, gravy. The room was very clean and comfortable, with microwave and refrigerator. All in all, a well-run and hospitable hotel!

I prefer Hampton Inns to begin with because of the free breakfast, good prices, and nice properties. Most also have free parking. We were here for a family event and we had a special rate, but we would have stayed here anyway (actually had made a reservation). The room was clean, the bed comfortable, the water pressure in the shower good. My only fault is the breakfast lacked some of the variety I have found at other Hamptons, but it was more than adequate and there was always a good variety, well stocked. The location was close to the family events, and it is close to the universities. Nothing in Durham is that far away. Access to and from the property was convenient and parking was easy. You really can't go wrong here.

From our arrival until our departure we could not have had more gracious, timely, and responsive service. My family and I always use Hampton Inn & Suites. We consider their breakfasts to be "top notch!" However, this one in Durham rates as our favorite breakfast in quality, taste, and variety. We have only one concern and that is the strange smell in the bathroom of our King Suite (NS). We couldn't determine if it came from the water or whatever. Otherwise, our rating would most certainly be "excellent." This is the second visit to this facility over a two year period and we did not experience an odd smell sensation during our first visit. One suggestion: Add a level walk-in shower as a requirement before designating a room as "handicapped accessible" throughout this hotel chain.

This was a 1 night stay as a stopover on our way to another state. Our stay was everything that I have come to enjoy using The Hampton Inn & Suites. So spoiled now and don't want to stay at any other place.
