We stayed here for a 3day dance intensive. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I upgraded to room with a balcony!. It was so nice to be able to open the door and let fresh air in! The room was very clean. The bed and sofabed were very comfortable. Because of COVID, housekeeping came on the 3rd day which was fine with me. Was able to get what I needed immediately. Had a flat tire on the last day and the front desk was able to direct me to MrTire down the street who were excellent!. I only wish I could have ventured out more to explore Durham but because of COVID, attractions were limited. I'm hoping to visit again!!

The hotel remains a stable "go to" for myself and family traveling in the RTP area and the standards of cleanliness and signage are reassuring and welcomed. The restaurant although closed during the pandemic and the pool, as well limited only slightly as the location of the hotel has several local chain eateries that offer to go menus that compensate adequately.

I'm a nurse, and sometimes stay in local hotels to be closer to work. (I live over an hour away.) I'd been staying at some lower priced hotels, but as this past weekend was the weekend before my birthday, I figured I'd give myself a treat and stay at a "nicer hotel". I would like to say that it was worth what I paid, but I can't. I will say that it is one of the *quietest* places I've ever stayed. The "suite with a balcony" was an ordinary room with a couch and a balcony that overlooked...the parking lot. The bed and pillows were super comfortable, and clean. The bathtub/shower combo had hair. The sink had begun to crack. The toilet, after flushing, would emit a long whistling sound. Had a refrigerator and safe, but no microwave. (I should have checked the print better on that one, but who doesn't offer a microwave these days?) The hallways were absolutely *freezing*. I had to put a towel in front of the door to keep the cold air out. In spite of the fact that there were not that many guests, I was given a room at the back of the hotel, and was told to enter that way. No dolly so that meant two trips to get my stuff in. (I don't know how to pack light.) The grounds are beautiful, but the carpet in the hallway needs replacing. The furniture was was dated and had it not been for the balcony, the room would have been overly dark. I'm going back to spending $50 a night less and getting a better room. :(

Dear Spunky Grits; Please accept our apologies for the issues that you had while you were here and that you did not feel comfortable in the 4 days that you were here to mention anything to our few staff members that were at the hotel or myself when I checked you out on Tuesday. Our team is always working hard to ensure that our guest enjoy their time with us. In our continued effort to practice social distancing we have been alternating the rooms that are used both on the north and south sides of the hotel so our team can service the guest rooms with very little interaction with anyone for everyone's safety. We actually were meeting with our interior designers the day before every thing stopped to work on our renovation plans. Unfortunately with most travel on hold, we are waiting for their return trip for the next step in our renovation. Please be safe and thank you for everything you are doing. At your service, Tom Lubbe General Manager

We had a comfortable stay. First thing I do when I enter a hotel room is check the pillows because I am allergic to feathers, it will trigger a asthma attack. Everyone of the pillows were feather and there were no synthetic pillows in the room. So we asked the front desk for them to bring some upstairs. They were fast and efficient about bringing pillows but they were foam. I would have preferred Poly-filled.Then when we were getting ready to go to bed, I noticed that the comforter was also feather filled. We had to call down again for a non feather blanket. I would have also slept better if the air conditioning wasn't so loud. I had to turn it off but then the room became too hot.

Not your typical property. At the entrance, it has a southern charm with a front porch and rocking chairs. Service here was excellent. The room was off to the side of the property, through the conference area which was a bit odd but okay nonetheless. My room had a seperate shower from the bath. Breakfast was quite good (fresh buffet), which in my case was complimentary as I am Hilton Gold. The bar scene was quite lively at the end of the day.

Dear T biss, What a nice review of our hotel. As you mentioned, we are not the typical property and do not fit into all the cookie cutter hotels of today. We try to separate ourselves with the type of property and the level of service that you mentioned you received. Please come back to see us in the warmer weather so you can sit out on the front porch in our rocking chairs while enjoying your complimentary Doubletree cookie. Have a great weekend. At your service, Tom Lubbe General Manager
