I was so impressed with the above and beyond service that my family and I received from Ken that I had to leave a review for this fine gentleman, who, among the many hotel gents and lassies I've met through the years, stands out as one of the finest. Ken is a true 'hoteliere extraordinaire'. He seemed to be in multiple places at one time, leaving me to wonder if he is not actually some mystical magical fellow, the likes of which we only see in fantastical films. The Magical Hotelier with the twinkle in his eye. One second you see him bar-tending, but seconds later, you turn your head and he is checking in a group of guests. When I called the front desk for an extra pillow, Ken picked up the phone, of course. Then in defiance of all known laws of physics, he was at my door with the requested pillow within a matter of seconds. We may never know how he does it, but one thing's for sure, we can all be glad that he does.…
Mathew Farquharson was awesome! My family and I spent some time at the bar hanging out and he struck up a conversation with us. You would think he was apart of our family due to how friendly and hospitable he was! He didn’t just serve us drinks, he treated us like family! I’ll definitely be back! Customer service is a big thing for me and he hit it out the park!
We had stayed at this hotel in 2019 for a long stay. This is one of the best values-for-money hotels I have seen and I used to travel frequently before the coronavirus crisis. The management, both the head and his assistant, are friendly and flexible, and the kitchen staff, particularly Americo, the chef, go out of their way to make patrons feel welcome. This visit was just for two days but we had a nice time. They started up hot breakfasts again, which is nice to find given coronavirus restrictions. Breakfast is included with the room rates. There was a small issue with the air conditioning in our room, but we were able to get it resolved. Also, we did not hear any noise from the large construction project (new apartments) going on right next door at the back of the hotel. We will return to this hotel next time we are in the area.…
I stayed the past weekend on a business trip and this hotel was very accommodating. The room was very clean and comfortable. I had an issue with the TV in the room and Ken, the hotel manager was very friendly and helpful in getting it to work. He also made sure that I had everything I needed before he left. Overall this was a great stay and I would recommend.
The hotel, staff, cleanliness, was all great. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Lots of snacks in the room when we arrived. Convenient location just off I-40 outside Durham. Surrounding area has many restaurants and stores, most within walking distance from the hotel. If you do walk, just be alert as there are many panhandlers on just about every corner asking for money. I am surprised how many are out in this more suburban area, but this is not new because of the pandemic. I have been coming to this area for years, and I have never been bothered, but just be aware. Breakfast was nice and you even had to put on a glove before going through the line. Our only disappointment was the swimming pool. We liked the fact that you had to reserve a time for the pool. They then give you a ticket for when to come, and you have a 1/2 hour block where you family will have the entire pool to yourselves. The hotel then sanitized the pool, deck and furniture between swimmers. My family and I were so excited as we got to the indoor pool. The spa was good, but the pool was the coldest pool I have even been in. I mean freezing cold, like ice water. Also the water was so cloudy that you could not even see the bottom, so the water quality was questionable. We did not swim long. Everything else was great, but check out the pool before you get changed and go down.…
