It is a pretty good size room the bathroom was small The buffet breakfast was nothing to rave about for the price. The second night there we had a storm come thru around 10pm. The power went off and never came back on and we checked out at 930 in the morning. Everything else in the neighborhood had pwere but this hotel. Dont know why.

I value the feedback on TripAdvisor when I am researching hotels, so I wanted to be sure to post feedback after my recent stay. I knew this wasn't a top-of-the line hotel, but out of the three 3-star hotels in Clemmons this one had decent reviews and had a sports bar in it, so I booked a stay here. Upon arrival, I noticed that the lobby reeked of cigarettes even though it was a non-smoking hotel. The hallways also smelled like cigarettes throughout our stay. It is definitely an older hotel, but our room was clean. The employees were friendly and the bartenders and drinks in the sports bar were good. However, the walls are paper thin and you can hear EVERYTHING in the rooms beside you. We were awakened one night by a woman in the room beside us screaming and crying and causing a huge commotion. Another night some friends who were also staying there were kept awake by people partying late at the pool into the wee hours of the morning. Now, I'm not a prude by any means and don't mind people having fun...but not at 2 in the morning when I'm trying to sleep and certainly not when that "fun" involves crying and screaming. In both cases, the hotel did respond and shut the situations down. Bottom line...the employees are nice, the drinks/sports bar are good and the rooms are clean. The breakfast (which I never could figure out if it was free or not, but I didn't pay for it) was good. But you have to go through a musty cigarette smell to get to your room and you never know who is going to be staying beside you or right outside your room. You can make the choice on whether or not to stay here!

see title of the review. as well, front desk staff cheerful and helpful. although no elevator to upstairs rooms, the reasonable room price takes this into account. nice touch in the bathroom-as well as towel for the floor, there is also a mat for the bathtub (no walk-in shower). unlike several hotel chains, the room fridge has a freezer.

First off, if staying in a ‘modern’ hotel is important to you, you’ll want to find a different place. Village Inn has plenty of ‘character’. It’s a sprawling, old style, ‘resort’ type hotel built in the 70’s. The place is a little dingy in spots, but it’s been well renovated, and you can tell that they do a good, concerted job looking after the facilities. The room was well appointed, soft bed, good tv. A little damp, but not prohibitively so. Clean, for sure. I didn’t go in the pool but it looked clean and inviting. The gym’s not much but there’s a couple pieces of equipment you can sweat out on. The conference rooms were modern and satisfactory. They claim to offer shuttle service to local golf courses with package discounts, which is cool if that’s your thing, because there’s not a lot else to do in Clemmons. I’m sure they’d shuttle you into Winston-Salem if you like. Winston’s a fun town with lots of nice places to go, but it’s about a 20 minute drive. They also have a cool custom golf cart the likes of which I have never seen before, but they wouldn’t let me joyride it at 2:30 AM. The attached restaurant offers honest-to-god room service, old-school style. It’s not exactly a foodie’s delight (standard hotel/banquet corporate foodservice stuff), but it was freshly prepared and very solid. The breakfast buffet was fine-better than continental muffins and cereal. Eggs, bacon, etc. Would be a good spot for kids. My only real disappointment was the coffee—it is very weak, not to the level people expect nowadays. I’d recommend to the owner to invest in some local roaster’s beans and brewing equipment. I know there are several high-quality local outfits and that could be a nice angle for what is an eminently NOT corporate, locally-run hotel. The staff was pleasant and very helpful at every turn. You can tell that people here take pride in the amenities. All in all, a perfectly fine place to stay, especially for a room in the 70-80 dollar range. Particularly if you’re into spending money locally, not giving it to Hilton or one of the other corporations, this is a good place to do it.

We stayed at the hotel for 9 days for the Junior Olympics. When we checked in, our room "appeared" to be clean however the bathroom was nasty, tub had stains and there was hair in and around the tub/shower. The sheets had an odor resulting in me requesting new bedding. I also noticed an odor in the entire room. I had to visit the Kmart to purchase mt own cleaning supplies and room freshener (which was stolen day 2 by housekeeping). There was also a pedophile in the hotel who harassed the children as well as tried to force his way into my room. The front desk person was very cavalier about the situation, even stating at one point "if he does something else, we will ask him to leave". It wasn't until someone from our party stated they were law enforcement that they called the police/sheriff. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone!
