Very enjoyable stay. Sat on the deck each night watching the fireflies in the shadow of beautiful Chimney Rock. Lovely little town, a quiet respite from the noise of everyday life. Thanks for making our getaway perfect!

What an amazing place to stay! My husband and I were able to sneak away from the kids for a weekend, and we found ourselves in Chimney Rock. The River House surpassed our expectations. Before we even arrived, Crissy (the house host), checked in with us about our arrival. We were later than we had first expected, but we’re met at the door with a huge smile and “hey, there!” Crissy is fabulous! She showed us around the house and made us feel so comfortable and welcome. Our room was perfect. The sound of the river right outside the door was so peaceful. Breakfast was delicious. Fresh coffee, cinnamon buns from the local bakery, an amazing casserole, and fresh fruit! And I have to say, the leftover cinnamon buns were pretty nice after a big hike. The book selection is lovely, the location is perfect, and the peace and quiet is totally unmatched. Crissy can tell you where to eat, where to hike, and she feels like an old friend you haven’t seen in awhile, but just love being around. We’ve been here 24 hours and I’ve already recommended this place to ALL my friends. Such a gem! Thanks, Crissy and the River House for a perfect weekend.

We had a lovely experience at the River House at Chimney Rock. We enjoyed the room down by the water! It was quiet except for the sound of the river....which we loved. Breakfast was wonderful. Chrissy was a lovely hostess and always took time to talk but never was overbearing. She was always sensitive to our needs. The home is lovely. Rooms are not large but the beds are very, very comfortable. The town is very quiet...which we loved but some might find it too quiet. I read that there were 20 restaurants with in a 1 mile radius but that seems like a lot. One day the main street had a power outage and we drove 5 miles to find dinner. (Granted it was a Monday and some places were closed regularly on Monday.) This is nothing bad on the River House....just the area is not what you would call...."hopping"! We were looking for quiet. We found it! We climbed Chimney Rock and above. We walked along the river. We shopped in Hendersonville and went to Biltmore before heading home. IT WAS JUST WHAT WE WERE LOOKING FOR! Thanks to all!

Loved our 2-nite stay. Chrissy met us at the door after a long, tiring, rainy drive. She greeted us warmly and made us feel so very welcomed. My “crew” had the three-bedroom River View suite. It could not have been more perfectly suited to our needs. One room overlooked the river. (This was the weekend that Tropical Storm Alberto dropped unending rain on the Asheville area and the Broad River that runs immediately behind the house was spectacular!). We sat out on the home’s deck all evening and enjoyed a bottle of wine while we watched the weather unfold before us . The rushing river , the boulders and the lush scenery before us was spectacular. We were lucky...the owners of our Inn, Steve and Shelly, drove up from their home to stay overnight. They were really wonderful, accommodating people. (They even called us from a wine bar to ask whether we preferred red or white wines). We sat in the parlor for 2 hrs visiting with our hosts - such a personal treat! The River House has so much charm- loaded with antiques. It is very comfortable, with multiple private accommodations for family or groups . The house is full of art, comfortable beds, and charming surprises. Our hostess, Chrissy, only added to the warm ambiance of our visit- And her breakfasts are outstanding, as well! Thank you, Chrissy, for everything!!! The house was super clean. We had crisp, new linens on the beds and fresh, luxurious towels in the bath. The River House is wonderful in every way. Hate for this visit to come to an end - thanks, Chrissy, Steve and Shelly for the memories- we will be back! We cannot wait to sit on that deck and listen/watch the roaring river again.
