This motel is perfect in everyway! The room is updated to a high standard and extremely clean!!! The bed was comfy. The linens & towels were very nice. Staff was friendly and helpful. Reliable wifi. Good location, close to Smokey Mountain National Park entrance, Harrah's Casino and other attractions and restaurants. Stayed 3 nights and hated to leave. Would definitely stay again if in the area.

My pet was welcome here, yes there is a pet fee but reasonable compared to leaving your furkid behind at home in a kennel. The lady at check in gave me a small courtesy gift which I later found to be a dog treat and a doggy pickup bag in a cute little food bowl. There's plenty of grassy areas to walk your K9 friend and ample clean up stations & trash cans to help make it easy to pick up after your dog - so be considerate of others please.
This may be due to covid or having a dog friendly room, but the beds have only sheets and some type of light cotton blanket-no bedspread or comforter. This was no issue for me since I took some light bedding from home. The beds are comfortable and the pillows are wonderful and that's coming from someone with severe back and neck issues. Water pressure was low but sufficient. Loved that I could park the car right at the room and not have to walk around the block or up flights of stairs to load/unload. A/C worked great, kept the room at a very comfortable cool temp all night. Room included fridge, microwave, large flat screen tv, iron, ironing board, hair dryer, small courtesy shampoo and soaps.
The Great Smokies Inn is at Saunooke Village complete with eateries, shops and lovely mountain views. The Oconaluftee River is just around the corner - you can hear it at night when you take the K9 out for a 'break'. If you're up for a riverside hike, you can walk to the Pioneer Village and Welcome Center at the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains. You're less than 2 miles from the Great Smoky Mountains Nat'l park and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Then there's all the great stuff in Cherokee.
All that for a reasonable price, great hospitality and a super location. Will definitely check back in next time we're in the area.

My experience with the staff started three days before I arrived. I had called the hotel to ask a few questions about my payment. Luke (front desk employee) was so professional and friendly on the phone answering my couple billing questions he even took the time to answer and give me some extra info that helped be plan my annual week long fishing trip. Once I arrived I met Luke and his co-worker Henry B. what a fantastic duo! both were utmost professional and extremely friendly.
Multiple times during the week I stopped by the front desk just to say hello, these two young gentlemen definitely know the meaning of customer service and pride in their job. Henry always had a smile ( ok, I couldn't see the smile because face masks are mandatory in the lobby area) However, his voice, actions and helping manner told me there was a friendly smile under that mask.
The hotel was clean and watching rooms get cleaned during the week you can feel confident that the staff is doing everything they can to insure a safe and healthy stay.

As for the location: I strongly recommend not staying in Cherokee,NC. The hotel sits on a main rd and rooms overlook parking lots or other establishments. There is nothing to do and everything in the town is rundown and almost looks deserted. Wherever we went the business looked as if they should be condemned. The casino seems to be the only thing keeping this town up. It’s one step away from being a ghost town. The pictures, of this hotel, on this site as well as google are completely misleading. If you book this hotel, You will find yourself staying only because of the noRefund policy.
As for the staff:
Booked 3 days on booking.com. I only got to stay one night and had a family emergency and had to leave. Called booking.com who informed it was non-refundable unless the Hotel wished to credit the card and only bill for one day. Made contact with the hotel and staffed informed me that they would not credit the money and blamed it on the website. Stating they would get in trouble with booking.com.

We are sad to hear that you did not enjoy your visit and we also hope that your family is doing better. We have an agreement with booking that states we cannot change dates on reservations made through them. Right now town is a lot more quiet due to Covid19 but we hope that changes soon so that our town can open everything back up. We do hope that you can come back and visit when everything is open. Thank you for letting us know about your stay.

Hotel has a great location, especially if you want to be close to Oconaluftee Welcome Center and restaurants within walking distance. We did see a bull elk in the parking lot in the evening, but this didn't impact entering/exiting the hotel. I was given a smoking room and it smelled it! Would appreciate if these rooms could be cleaned every so often to rid the rooms of the smoke smell and walls cleaned. Bed and pillows were uncomfortable, so bring your own pillow. Something that should be mentioned is the sink area and toilet are very low, not a standard size. If you have issues getting up and down from a seated position, definitely look elsewhere. Would recommend this hotel for a one night stay.

We stayed our first two nights of our trip here as I used points and it was one of my choices! Man, did I get lucky with that!!! Loved the location, ate dinner at the Chinese place first night and brought it back to the pool area while kids swam and ate. Great outdoor pool! Our rooms did the trick and loved the motel style with Covid! Taco truck was set up in parking lot so grabbed lunch from there and brought it to the island to eat picnic style. The staff was wonderful! Lots to do in the area in terms of nature and getting outside! Loved our first two days of our trip to this area!

Stayed here for 5 nights and I highly recommend it if you are visiting the National Park. This is probably the closest hotel to the park. Equally important is that it is clean, quiet and they have a very friendly staff. I felt safe here and they offered everything I needed: clean lodging; hot water with good pressure; 24/7 coffee; microwave; fridge and coffee maker in your room, all at a reasonable price. Rooms had plenty of space and beds were comfortable. I didn't watch TV, so I can't speak to that. I would return on future visits. Note: If you are making reservations, be sure it is this "Smoky Inn" vs. the other one with a similar name, that sits out on 441 as you enter town. It would be easy to confuse the names.

The rooms are clean with good water pressure and temp, plus the AC and heater were strong and accurate. The location is the best at just five minutes drive to Harrah's and a minute to the Great Smoky Mountains Park. I would select this inn over any on 19 because it is very peaceful and the short drive to the casino is really pretty. You wouldn't know about the parks and outdoor areas if you stay on 19. It was very cold on Easter weekend so there wasn't much foot traffic around the inn but there are quite a few nice little shops and places to visit. Good choice!

Thank you to staff Donata, Luke, Christie and Morgan. Treat us always like family and so willing to please every stay. We have come for years. Comfy beds clean rooms fridge and microwave. Always try to give me rooms on first floor facing pool courtyard and rocking chairs up front on a nice day so comforting to reminisce.

We booked for two nights because it as a good location for the things we wanted to to, however we were a little disappointed.
Here's a few reasons:
1. The remote was on the floor next to the TV, obviously the cleaner didn't do one last check before leaving.
2.there was urine and hair on the toile seat, and more hair all around the toilet. this really grossed me out and made me wonder if the cleaner was blind.
3. The construction site started work at 5am. I know this is not the hotel's fault, however a top tip for future guests - get a room as far away from the construction site as possible.
4. lots of hair stuck to the wall in the shower.
5. the toilet would run and run and run and run....
the hair and the urine on the toilet seat really makes me question the cleanliness, however the beds were comfortable.
As we went to check out, the greeting from the reception staff was quite rude, turns out she thought we were someone else and then apologised.
