I selected this wonderful hotel because I love both history and ghost stories. This place is really lovely and I have found all of the staff members I've come into contact with are very friendly and make you feel right at home. I would highly recommend staying here and if you are like me and love a bit of spookiness, ask anyone who works here - everyone has had at least one interesting story!
We stayed here one night to celebrate a special occasion. After reading some recent negative reviews, I was concerned. However, I worried needlessly. From check-in to check-out, everything was flawless. Our room was quite spacious and very clean. And quiet. The staff was welcoming and gracious. We have decided not to wait for a special occasion to return.
This historic hotel was nice, but it needs modernization and upgrades. The room was lovely, but the furniture was a bit worn. Our room faced the street and the noise was significant - loud car music and even louder car non-mufflers. Please be advised that there is no handicap access from the front door to the reception desk eight steps up. When we checked in the ??bellhop" watched us lug the luggage up the stairs and did not offer to help. The neighborhood is lovely, but Charlotte is basically empty due to the continuing pandemic.
We have stayed at the Dunhill several times in the past. We will not again after this last experience. We check in and are assigned a room. We unlock the door only to find it occupied by other guests! We go back to the front desk and the lady says she is in training and doesn’t know how to resolve the situation. I ask why can’t you just look up in your system and find a vacant room. She says she has to call her manager. We have dinner reservations so I leave my bags and she says she will have it sorted out when we get back. She did not. Instead of finding another room they moved the other people out of the first room we were assigned only to find there was no running water in the bathroom. Okay well what about a different room. At this point she was more interested in copping an attitude than helping and says maybe the guy who is coming to relieve her can sort it out. It took him a while but he eventually assigns us a different room. We are glad to get in a room finally only to find there was no running water in that bathroom either. I understand there were some issues with utility work affecting the water but that doesn’t explain the simple inability to assign an unoccupied room and being willing to help a guest having a problem. When we checked out the front desk guy said the manager would be getting in a little later and he would have him call me. I never received a call.…
What a dump! Trash all over the entrance way floor. The bar is all of 7-8 seats. No valet parking. The room has two lights. A small lamp, and a night light. That’s it. Small, the beds were old, and not full size queens. As advertised. Trash in the room. And it’s the size of a tin can. The bathroom had no real shower head. Shower head was a hand held device. The tub was no bigger than a stand up shower. The bathroom had no room to have a child and an adult in the room at the same time. Would not recommend this at all. It’s dirty. Tiny. And not worth the 400 dollars they charged me . What a disgrace. Priya Clifton
The hotel was very pleasant, the atmosphere was so relaxing and the staff was great! I really enjoyed the bartenders customer service he was friendly and great! We will definitely be visiting again in the near future.
Excellent hotel; Staff accommodated all my wishes to make this a memorable celebration. Room was excellent. we did not experienced any problems. Coupled with the onsite restaurant, The Asbury, we couldn't have asked for a better location to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Jamillah was very courteous and she ensure our wedding anniversary experience was great.
My husband and I spent my birthday weekend at The Dunhill. It was such a lovely experience! The room was extremely comfortable and quiet. The food at the Asbury on site was delicious. The hotel is very well located, within walking distance of the major attractions Uptown. The staff were incredibly friendly, and even sent up a complementary bottle of prosecco when they found out it was my birthday. An excellent value for a reasonable price. We will be back!
Wonderful parking set up and the physical appearance of the room was fine. There was no refrigerator and no ice bucket. The room was freezing and though we turned the heat up into the 80’s the room never got warm. There was NO heat in the bathroom. It was literally too cold to shower. I will certainly make a different choice the next time I am in Charlotte. The hotel has a bit of European charm, but it was a bit like staying in a meat locker.
Shaynay was very sweet & helpful not sure what department she's in but she made me feel welcome very friendly & even recommended some local places that was fun to attend we will be visiting this hotel again all because of her
