Decades before The Dunhill Hotel would open, local architect Louis Asbury Sr. was entranced by the great Italian craftsmen who created cathedrals famous for their soaring, elegant roof lines. Today, The Dunhill Hotel stands distinct on the Charlotte skyline, an amalgam of American, British, and Italian influences, something those with an eye for period detail can detect. Opened in 1929 as the Mayfair Manor apartment hotel, with half of its original 100 rooms permanent residences, today's Dunhill Hotel is a thoughtful evolution. A full restoration was recently completed, and various on-going aesthetic improvements all share a common goal--to celebrate the original vision of Mr. Asbury, with a nod to the needs of the modern traveler.

My wife and I book the Dunhill for an overnight stay-cation about 5 times a year, and we only live 5 minutes away! We love the cozy bar and the great bartenders. We love the redecorated rooms, the comfy beds, the best pillows ever, and the 90 year old charm of this small hotel. The bathrobes are so good that I bought my wife one for Christmas! The Asbury, their restaurant, serves first class Southern cuisine. Great location, easy parking, great Southern charm, easy walk to anywhere downtown. What's not to love? Don't worry, Dunhill, We'll be back soon for another stay-cation! Rick and Terri H. Charlotte,NC

Hotel is overrated. Too many items did not work: the Keurig, the bedside light and clock, tepid water from the cold faucet, outlet in bathroom did not work on second day, ice not available except by a phone call and a tip, coffee in lobby on Sunday morning was old, as verified by waitress in dining room, parking expensive, few amentities

Room Tip: Room was adequate for single occupancy. Also, wall between bath and next door bath was not sound...

Our stay was during COVID, and so everyone is having a difficult time, but the Dunhill seems to want to shine in being as uncooperative as possible and using Covid as an excuse. The rooms were not cleaned on a daily basis. This is understandable. However, we were never told this, so we came back after a very long and exhausting day to find our room with no clean towels, no new soaps or shampoos and the maintenance man having to bring these items up late at night. The next day we asked and were told that if we requested a clean up they would oblige, we did, we needed fresh towels and our trash emptied. Again we returned after a long day and found the room the way we left it. When we mentioned it, the staff person simply glared at us, continued to make tea while glaring and then with a huff said sorry. I left an item in the room upon departure, it was a very expensive gift. When I called they said that since it was not a personal item it was thrown away. It had only been a few hours, and returning would have been easy for me, and yet they would not even discuss my retrieving it. The hotel itself is nice, but the staff and their attitude ruined not only my stay but left me with a very sour taste of Charlotte.

We stayed here while visiting family. What a wonderful hotel. We had a Queen Vintage room. Great bed. Lovely and clean room. When our plans changed, the management found us a table for Sunday Brunch for the entire family. Excellent service. Great place. We will be back!!!

We stayed on Valentines weekend. First the PROS The bed was super comfy, the room was clean, the room was cute even though small, location to dining uptown was great, bar seemed fun even though we didnt stop for a drink at it. CONS, the water in the bath tub was warm at best even on the hottest setting, and the room is LOUD. i dont mean normal hotel loud, i mean you hear the full conversations of neighboring rooms. If the are doing the deed; trust me, you will know. I am guessing this is due to the old ventilation system in the rooms, it carries the sounds SUPER loud from one room to the next. So if you dont mind hearing people get it on or know your neighboring rooms bowel movements, then this hotel is for you cause the beds are great.. lol. (Oh also, the room only has like 7 channels on the TV.. which sucked)
