Decades before The Dunhill Hotel would open, local architect Louis Asbury Sr. was entranced by the great Italian craftsmen who created cathedrals famous for their soaring, elegant roof lines. Today, The Dunhill Hotel stands distinct on the Charlotte skyline, an amalgam of American, British, and Italian influences, something those with an eye for period detail can detect. Opened in 1929 as the Mayfair Manor apartment hotel, with half of its original 100 rooms permanent residences, today's Dunhill Hotel is a thoughtful evolution. A full restoration was recently completed, and various on-going aesthetic improvements all share a common goal--to celebrate the original vision of Mr. Asbury, with a nod to the needs of the modern traveler.

Very comfortable stay. Staff was very helpful and friendly responding to several of our small requests. Easy access parking from the garage behind the hotel. Regular Queen room had no dresser/drawers for clothes.

Amazing location! We parked our car when we arrived and didn’t move it until we checked out. The room was clean and spacious. The beds were comfortable. My only complaint is about the lighting. The room was dark, especially when trying to get dressed for the theater. They need to add more lamps, use different bulbs, or add ceiling lighting. To make it worse, our lamp was missing one of its two bulbs! Otherwise, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would stay there again!

I couldn't have been happier with this hotel! Conveniently located, easy parking - walking distance to everything including two rails - one was free. You really can get anywhere easily. The staff were fabulous- especially Josh! He really helped me over and over as I was alone- brought me a frig. ice, told me the history of the hotel. The front desk personnel for fantastic too. My room was a large corner room with everything in perfect condition and very comfortable bed. I literally hated to leave. Just goes to show you- don't read the negative reviews- or maybe they were valid but whatever problem they had has certainly been corrected. Walk to many fabulous restaurants and a $10 Uber ride to Oven's auditorium- or walk to Spectrum Center . Take the rail to South End. Eat dinner at Eddie V's! Fab time. Thanks

I chose to stay at The Dunhill last summer because it is in walking distance of my son's apartment, and I like the idea of an historic property. Well, you can definitely tell that it's the oldest hotel. It needs to be freshened up. My room had not been vacuumed, and I won't go into too much detail about what I had to clean in the bathroom. I got serious attitude from the front desk staff. Two women who would be better suited working in the Atlanta airport. One of them outright insulted me because I presented her with the wrong receipt for parking validation. She made fun of me when I had to put reading glasses on to see it. The bar has odd hours, too, and they were still enforcing outdated COVID policies. There are many, many better options in uptown.

We stayed at this property for a 2 night corporate retreat. The rooms were well appointed and comfortable, the décor was boutique and pleasing. Overall we were very happy with the rooms. We had reserved the Churchill conference room for an all day meeting with catered lunch. The room was smaller than I would have expected and was very tight for 10 people set up un a U shape. Our event manager was excellent and stopped in several times to check on us. We would stay here again and recommend!

The front desk needs customer service training. We were triple charged for the Saturday night stay. When I talked to manager Sols she said if they weren’t removed in 5 days, call her. So in seven days I called the manager back she said it will eventually drop off, no solution !! Parking garage is not a place to leave your car if you care for it, and you have to pay $23 for the-public garage not safe! The room was small, one lamp, and an old bath. To many better chooses in Charlotte to waste your money here, look elsewhere

Absolutely my 'go-to' hotel in Charlotte! Situated in the heart of downtown Charlotte in the banking/theater/restaurant district, everything is a walk away. One of the oldest, if not the oldest, hotel in Charlotte, it sits below the skyscrapers like a rhododendron in a forest of tall poplars. The rooms are comfortable, the beds divine. I had such a good sleep last Spring, my hubby called the Dunhill and bought identical pillows from the distributor for my birthday. The elevator is 'naughty,' as it is reported haunted and indeed, caught me & the hubby between floors. :) The bar closes early, allowing a quick nightcap after the concert hall doors close for the evening. And breakfast in the adjoining restaurant is worth taking your time in the morning to check out. Parking is behind the hotel. What's not to love?

My husband and I drove 6 hours to attend a wedding in Charlotte. I used our points thru Marriott Bonvoy to book our room at another hotel. In short, I was extremely unhappy and couldn't wait to leave before check-out time the next morning. The Dunhill was one of the hotels listed on the wedding website...so I called at 9 in the morning. Alexis answered the phone and proceeded to be the kindest most understanding representative I've encountered in quite some time. Customer service has gone downhill drastically post-pandemic. She not only allowed us to get the rate that was held for the wedding party but let us pack up from that other hotel and check in at The Dunhill within an hour. Once we arrived, she greeted me with a bottle of champagne and made sure we had everything we needed. Oh! The rooms are adorable and the hotel is classically beautiful. Will return here whenever we visit Charlotte even without getting points to do so.

I know nothing about Charlotte, so I randomly picked this hotel. It truly was a great stay! They upgraded my room, which of course made me feel special. All of the front desk attendants were so nice and helpful! I didn’t catch their names, but the young man working late night 9/2 and the young lady working the morning 9/3 were both very sweet. Thank you for turning my stay into something positive (my connecting flight was canceled, so I wasn’t even supposed to be in Charlotte!).

Sina was awesome and will come back to Charlotte Embassy to see her for food and drinks for sure! Crab cakes, calamari and drinks were perfect. There was a good selection of wine. Sina was so attentive.
