If you like extra service, then this is the place for you to stay in downtown Charlotte. Lots of historical value and beautifully appointed accommodations in keeping with the time period of the roaring twenties, so if you're looking for a "modern" hotel, this really isn't. Comfortable rooms though, and updated bathrooms. The valet had my car ready for me... More

Met friends here for a quick weekend trip since we all live in different parts of the U.S. We chose the Dunhill and were very impressed. Staff was great and accomodating to our needs. Plenty of nice restaurants and bars in the area. We will definitely be back!

There's things to like here: location (you can easily walk to any downtown venue) and as it's an older historic building there's an engaging ambience; and the staff is certainly friendly! But having stayed in many of Charlotte's downtown hotels I'd suggest that the Dunhill is "between and betwixt." Not as totally classy as other luxury options (our room could... More

The good are the people who work there are friendly and the lobby is okay. The hotel is extremely overpriced for the very small dingy rooms. I know it's a historical hotel but it is no excuse for the boring beige depressing rooms. The bathroom was ridiculously small. The continental breakfast included with the room was a joke - no... The hotel was clean, with an excellent breakfast included every day. Although this is a hotel it is more like a large bed and breakfast. I was there for business and the only negative I experienced was the elevators were slow. They were even slower when one of the elevators was out of order.

The location is perfect since you're walking distance is a ton of restaurants and bars. Parking is available in the back of the hotel but at $18 a night, which I find ridiculous but it is what it is. The hotel itself is well maintained and the staff is pretty friendly. There was complimentary breakfast with our booking and the... More

We were set to stay at the Duke Mansion when a power outage took out that park of town. The hotel kindly arranged for us to stay at the Dunhill instead. We were in transit and had no time to do any research so we just went with the arrangement. So glad we did! What a pretty and charming historic... More

Went here with about 20 guys for a few days of meetings. The hotel is a boutique type of hotel, pretty vintage looking. If you like the antique setting, older type of rooms and furniture you will really like it. Has a character to it, and a reputation of being haunted. The service was good. Everyone with polite and southern... More

We transferred to this hotel after another local hotel had power issues. They were very accommodating and the staff were fantastic including the lady who was in charge of servicing our floor who introduced herself when we stepped off the elevator and gave us our bedtime chocolates early.

The Dunhill had a B&B vibe. It was a nice change from staying in the large chain hotels. Everything was very well maintained. The room was in excellent condition as was the bathroom. The bed, tub, sink, toilet all looked relatively new. There were plenty choices for breakfast. The staff were all helpful and polite. All in all a wonderful... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Decades before The Dunhill Hotel would open, local architect Louis Asbury Sr. was entranced by the great Italian craftsmen who created cathedrals famous for their soaring, elegant roof lines. Today, The Dunhill Hotel stands distinct on the Charlotte skyline, an amalgam of American, British, and Italian influences, something those with an eye for period detail can detect. Opened in 1929 as the Mayfair Manor apartment hotel, with half of its original 100 rooms permanent residences, today's Dunhill Hotel is a thoughtful evolution. A full restoration was recently completed, and various on-going aesthetic improvements all share a common goal--to celebrate the original vision of Mr. Asbury, with a nod to the needs of the modern traveler. ... more   less
