Decades before The Dunhill Hotel would open, local architect Louis Asbury Sr. was entranced by the great Italian craftsmen who created cathedrals famous for their soaring, elegant roof lines. Today, The Dunhill Hotel stands distinct on the Charlotte skyline, an amalgam of American, British, and Italian influences, something those with an eye for period detail can detect. Opened in 1929 as the Mayfair Manor apartment hotel, with half of its original 100 rooms permanent residences, today's Dunhill Hotel is a thoughtful evolution. A full restoration was recently completed, and various on-going aesthetic improvements all share a common goal--to celebrate the original vision of Mr. Asbury, with a nod to the needs of the modern traveler.

I wanted to give the Dunhill 5 stars, but a rude housekeeper who pounded on our door even though the do not disturb was out prevented me from doing that. Other than that unfortunate experience, our stay was wonderful. Love the restored vintage hotel. Rooms are classic but fully functional with good beds and great climate control. Beautiful bar in the lobby with a very friendly bartender. We also enjoyed a nice room service breakfast in the morning. Because of Covid, they don't valet park--but there is a huge garage right behind the hotel.

The hotel is a historic landmark in Uptown Charlotte, and it feels like you're stepping back in time once inside. It even had that "old smell" to it, which added to the charm of it, in my opinion. I chose the vintage queen room, and it was perfect. The room and bathroom were clean, and the bed comfortable! You can't see it from my pictures, but there is a sitting area in front of the bed with the tv mounted on the wall. I took advantage of the room service, which was pretty fast and the food good. I was in room 605. I definitely plan to stay here again.

No hot water in the shower over a 4 day stay, and the room was warm and humid all the time. Thus we felt dirty and exhausted instead of refreshed. Management did compensate us for the troubles with food in their restaurant, which was very good tasting. The guy tending bar at night was great.

Dear Naplesfan2010, Thank you for choosing The Dunhill Hotel and for taking the time to share your experience. I'm very sorry for the trouble with the hot water in your room. I do wish that you had taken us up on our offer for a complimentary upgrade to another room so that you would have enjoyed a more comfortable stay! We have had the pleasure of staying at a variety of hotels listed on the National Registry of Hotels. The Dunhill in our opinion did not measure up to what we have experienced elsewhere in accommodations or public areas. The furniture was worn and drab, bathroom cabinetry 2nd rate, and window coverings non existent except for ineffective blinds. On a positive note hotel personnel were vary accommodating and the location was excellent.

nicely appointed room, albeit on the smaller side. Comfortable bed, nice furnishings and friendly staff. There loading zone was poorly marked which took an extra pass around the city block to get to, and then there was a forklift blocking the entrance . Bellhop came out to assist as soon as I called for help.
