We are back traveling. It has been too long. We are not ready for air travel yet but travel by car works. We have stayed at The Duke Mansion many times. It is our first choice when traveling to Charlotte. This time was a little different. Covid 19 rules were in place. We felt safe. The staff was very warm and welcoming as always; however, breakfast was delivered each morning to our room. The staff announced themselves and left our meal on a serving tray at our door. The hotel and grounds looked great. My wife and I can't wait until our next trip to Charlotte and another stay at The Duke Mansion

My husband and I stayed here for one night which was lovely. We loved walking through the quiet neighborhood to dinner. Eat at the Thai place. The mansion is beautiful and very clean. We would have stayed two nights except we discovered there were going to be events there so we went to another hotel for the second night. I did not like our room because it was on the third floor and I found it claustrophobic. I suspect that rooms on the lower floors have bigger windows and you don't have to duck to get under the doorway. A woman at the front desk named Jimmie Bryan was FABULOUS. It's because of employees like her that make this hotel great. She was gracious, joyful, kind and patient. The garden here has some spectacular specimens of flowers and is so peaceful to walk through. I will stay here again if I can have a non third floor room and know that there will be no events while I'm staying there.

It was beautiful. The gardens are breathtaking. The porch was so comfortable. Bedrooms are gorgeous. The staff was remarkable. The food for breakfast was a choice of many different things which was great. The kitchen and staff were very nice and kind and helpful. Learned a lot about The Duke family and the history of the Duke Mansion. The front desk gentleman (in the morning)and the young girl(in the evening) were very helpful. Meeting the Ray’s was the highlight of the trip.

We stayed here for 3 nights in a double bed room on the third floor of the mansion. The building is beautiful and grand and the exterior and common areas are well maintained and very nice. The gardens are extensive and lovely. Our room was on the third floor, it had lovely furnishing and had a good layout. It was very quiet for the most part and was quite a large room with a large bathroom. However, despite the size of the room the double bed was quite small. We have stayed in double beds throughout our travels and it was by far the smallest we have experienced. I suspect it’s not a standard US size double. This didn’t really bother us too much but is important to know when booking. We probably would have booked the queen room if we had known as my husband was unable to stretch his legs out on this bed. The paint in the room was also peeling it was particularly bad in the bathroom. Again this didn’t really impact us but it did diminish the overall feel of the room. House keeping is WONDERFUL they do an excellent job and the rooms are immaculate. The breakfast was good and include an array of options and was served in different rooms throughout our stay. As noted in other reviews the hotel is often used for events and conferences. While we were there they had events on each night this was unfortunate as it made the hotel common spaces very busy and limited guest access to these rooms. One particular night there was a Christmas party which was very loud the music could be heard and felt in our room. The hotel did inform us it would end at 11pm which it did. The parking was good and we never had an issue finding a park. The location is lovely with easy access to the city. The neighbourhood is very safe, beautiful and quiet. The nearby shopping strip contains many restaurant options we tried a few and they were wonderful. Overall our stay was very pleasant, we enjoyed the location and the history of the building. The rooms need some updating and extra work.

Stayed for 2 night to unwind after a cruise. Beautiful gardens and historical furnishings. Comfy bed and pillows. The breakfast was lovely both days. It’s in walking distance of some nice restaurants. Strolling the neighborhood was scenic as there are many mansions to look at. Coffee and cookies were available at tee time and free bottled water in the rooms. I have nothing to criticize.
