Had a lovely day and night at the Vanlanding Estate, nice and very flexible staff. The grounds all around were really beautiful and my room was in the carriage house, really quiet and comfortable just like I like. Thank you to the staff for letting me check in early and check out late, made my stay that much more relaxing.

This is the perfect getaway place, nestled in the heart of plaza midwood, walking distance to many fun local spots and minutes from uptown. Staff is warm, friendly and engaging. Perfect for couples, small weddings, special events or girls get away. Grounds are lovely, rooms are comfy and breakfast is delicious. I dont have guests often but when I do... More

Wonderful place! The breakfast was delicious. My daughter and I enjoyed a quiet walk through the beautiful gardens. Our room was spacious and clean. I would definitely stay here again. It would also be a great place for a romantic getaway!

My purpose was to recharge my brain and insert new information. Both were happily completed. I am new to North Carolina from Ohio and although all of my friends are in Florida I can say that my choice was perfect. Although I have not experienced the heat yet, it is very livable. There is season change but moderate. The moving... More

We stayed at this property because we wanted to stay in the Plaza Midwood neighborhood. The plusses are that the service and the breakfast were quite nice. The breakfast was hot and cooked to order for us. Parking was easy, as is the great proximity to restaurants and shopping. The grounds looked like they had been beautiful and lush at... More

Thank you for your candid feedback. You're correct that the bed is a double bed due to the size of the room. We do have queen sized rooms available and hope you'll choose one of those on a subsequent visit. We are unaware of noises from the mattress and will check into that. As for the original iron tub and... More

My husband won this in a silent auction - one night and breakfast for two the next morning. We had a problem booking for just one night as the online system said they were booked every day of the year. It was difficult to contact The VL Estate, the call would ALWAYS roll over to their sister property, Morehead Inn.... More

Our organization invited an out-of-town speaker to present in Charlotte last weekend, and we made arrangements for our speaker to be hosted by the Van Landingham. Our speaker loved the Van Landingham! She praised the beauty of the historic house and the surroundings. She described the breakfast as a gourmet experience, not to be missed. She especially appreciated the warm,... More

I should have read the past reviews before booking our reservations for Mother's Day brunch this year. We live in Tega Cay and decided to make the drive to Charlotte for a nice change this year. Our experience was a huge disappointment. We were seated inside an indoor side area with a lovely view of the buffet line and everyone's... More

We were thoroughly pleased by our time at The VanLandingham Estate. The house is gorgeous, well maintained and sits on 5 acres of magnificent, classically groomed property-- All in the middle of Charlotte! Each room has its own unique feel. Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable with a fireplace, plenty of seating, luxurious bedding, and a whirlpool tub. The... More

Nice enough place- probably wouldn't recommend, but if you already booked it don't worry...like I said, it's nice enough. Gave me a different room than I reserved, didn't know how to handle my payment (I had prepaid ahead) but we're friendly, helpful and apologetic. Room wasn't very clean though. Old food in thre fridge from a previous guest, a pair... More
