Lovely hotel, spacious suite, terrific team. Special thanks to Ty who greeted me warmly, couldn’t have been more helpful throughout my stay. However, I did encounter quite a negative experience during checkin with Frenchine. Had it not been for Ty, I would have left the hotel. That said, the incident was handled with 5 star hospitality the following morning by Nolan. Please note, Frenchine is a liability for the hotel as well as its guests. All that aside, I would gladly make this my go to hotel in Charlotte going forward if I’m assured the situation with the receptionist is taken seriously with the highest level of management.

Hotel's Favorite
It’s been awhile since I’ve elected to stay in a hotel over an Airbnb. I wanted something special for my milestone birthday. I’ll admit I was a bit skeptical. That was certainly put immediately to rest when we drove up ( it’s in the middle of Uptown Charlotte so on a very busy street surrounded by sky scrapers.) we were immediately greeted by Ty who took care of us with charm and class and friendliness . That continued when we were greeted by Adam in a quiet elegant reception Room so much better than a noisy front desk , where even at the best hotels I’ve had to wait in line. Adam was like being greeted by the perfect host to welcome us ,including our small pup, Sammy, into his own home. Knowledgeable , warm, great sense of humor ,also just as Ty,a class act . I felt an immediate sense of relief. Maybe I had chosen the best for my birthday after all . Our room, 207, was right up a lovely wrought iron stairway ( elevators are available ). It was gorgeous ! A bank of tall windows overlooking the city.. with thick double panes and heavy luxe black out curtains for sound control and privacy. The furnishings did wow right down to the Nespresso coffee maker , stocked mini Bar, …the bed was heavenly with triple sheeting and a good variety of pillows to choose from. The sheets were so soft they seemed like they had also been ironed. The Room felt like an old Parisian boudoir. Just beautiful . The bathroom had a wonderful soaking tub, separate shower , and separate WC . Plenty of Lush thick towels as well as lovely boutique vanity supplies. One of the most appreciated and amazing things was the quietness of the hallways, the cleaning staff so unobtrusive and polite. I forgot to mention the fabulous throw blanket on the bed! Sunday License makes them. They are thick and plush and just dreamy! They sell them downstairs in the small elegant boutique. My husband actually bought me one as a surprise birthday gift!!! The location is great. Many places to eat drink and be merry within walking distance . We unfortunately didn’t get to try the attached lounge, Sophie’s bc it was closed to private parties each night. There is a stunning room near the lounge called the library . Books on shelves, chandeliers, self serve coffee and drinks .. sofas , chairs and a few tables. The look of an elegant Drawing room. Madison gave me a key to it when I asked for a later checkout time as I had a later flight out of Charlotte. It was a real treat! We had great service and food at both Luce and The Capital Grill for dinners and the Cowboy grill for lunch. We truly loved this hotel experience. When I checked out the last morning Adam was there with Madison. She was every bit as friendly and helpful as Adam. In fact we decided to stay again four days later on our return trip home. Once again we were taken care of by Ty ,Adam , and Madison . There was another young gentleman also who was just as gracious though I didn’t get his name. The proprietor of the gift shop was also very personable. So this IS now our / my home away from home! I fly out of Charlotte several times a year to visit family in Fla. and will not hesitate to call on this wonderful staff at the Iveys! Many thanks for a fabulous time!

The excellence starts with check-in staff. I arrived a little early and room wasn't available but the front desk staff made me feel very comfortable. Then when the room was ready, I was notified. Check in was smooth. The suite was a WOW. Everything was nice including the decor, the Nespresso coffee as well as the bedroom. The attached restaurant was a great place to hang out with friends. Will definitely stay here again.

I wasn't sure what to expect from a hotel that used to be a popular downtown department store, but the reinvention of the space was genius. Everything about this hotel was unique...from the cozy reception area and room arrangements to the eclectic decor. But beyond the posh creature comforts and the exceptionally clean, spacious room I enjoyed in this well-managed venue was the pleasure of engaging with a well-trained staff. I felt pampered from the moment I was greeted by Ty, the very friendly valet, to Travis at the reception desk, to Theresa who provided exceptional service at Sophia's Lounge for breakfast. I also felt safe and secure in the center of the city as a solo traveler. My only regret is that I was in town for only one night; I would have enjoyed more of the amenities offered by The Ivey's and ventured out into the very vibrant nightlife that surrounds this venue.

My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary at The Ivey and it was an excellent experience. The staff was great, especially the valet attendent he was the only attendent all weekend from Sun up to Sun down and he remainded friendly and professional. The hotel overall was great. It is truly a beautiful place. However I am a vegetarian and we paid extra for the breakfast package. I was very disappointed in the LACK of vegetarian options as well as the steak and eggs that my husband ordered both days lacked luster. Very small steak, unseasoned and no type of garnishments, for the price we expected more.

The Ivey’s Hotel is decorated beautifully. Breakfast was very good. But the best part for me was the excellent service from Brad, the valet who seemed to always be working. Great attitude and service.

Read all the great reviews and was so excited to stay here with my husband. The hotel room, an Ivey’s suite, was serene and spacious. It was clean and comfortable. That’s where all the good things ended. Upon returning to the room after a symphony concert and late dinner, we were greeted by loud music and yelling. Directly across a narrow street from our suite was the door to a nightclub. There were approximately 30 drunk people waiting in line to go in. A phone call to the front desk yielded nothing but “wear the ear plugs we left on your nightstand.” Even the comfy bed couldn’t lull us to sleep, and the bars in NC sell alcohol until 2 am. For a top-rated hotel to charge $897.80 per night and not soundproof the suites is inexcusable!! I noticed the portly gentleman who checked us out never asked how our stay was. He is obviously used to grumpy, tired guests complaining about their short night’s sleep. He also watched me struggle with two suitcases as I attempted to return to the breakfast area, only to find that the door was locked. If you can turn off your hearing aids and sleep soundly, Ivey’s might work for you. For the rest of us, the lack of attempt to inform us of the deal breaking noise and then not even a “sorry” makes it an expensive frustrating night!
