The facility, hosts, food, surroundings, and atmosphere of The Buck House Inn are WONDERFUL! For a quiet getaway that is in easy travel distance of Asheville, Burnsville, Mt. Mitchell, and other mountain resorts, this is the place to be. Sheep, goats, cats, a dog, and curious deer make for a serene and pastoral setting. Sam and Debbie make you feel at home and are helpful with recommendations you may solicit.

We first discovered The Buck House Inn by accident in July 2019, when we drove by it (kind of lost) and stopped for directions. We stopped by on our way back for an tour with Debbie (Debbie & Sam are the proprietors). My parents actually came for a stay before we did (on our recommendation) and thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s a delightful B&B, with beautifully decorated rooms, warm & friendly hosts, delicious breakfasts, peace & quiet all around (except the soothing sound of the rushing creek behind the house), lovely gardens, and an amazing veranda/deck. It’s the perfect place to get away from the busyness & stress of work. The weather tends to be cool in the morning & evenings, and comfortably warm during the day. The only minor inconvenience, is that there are so few places nearby for lunch & dinner, so it takes a little planning. However, we have fallen in love with it on our first stay, and we will certainly return!

Our stay at the Buck House was the most pleasant experience we have had lodging. Usually we will use B&Bs as an evening resting place while we travel around, but the Buck House was so peaceful & charming we spent a good deal of our time on the front porch or around the grounds or discussing the history of the Buck House. Breakfast was hands down the best we have experienced & our hosts, the Steppins, were wonderful!

I called The Buck House Inn main number looking for a room in February, not realizing the Inn opens for the spring season on May 1. The phone transferred to the cell phone of the hosts, Debbie and Sam, who happened to be traveling and not on "duty." Rather than simply tell me, as most would, we are closed until May, please look for reservations online goodbye, this wonderful couple made me feel like we had known each other for years and they were here to help me in any way possible. I had many many questions about the area, the Inn, the amazing gated property the Inn is located within, The Preserve of Wolf Laurel, etc. Debbie and Sam answered everything with patience and kindness, so helpful!! We can't wait to finally meet them and will be one of the first guests to the Inn when they open. I was blessed just from talking to them over the phone. Really an exceptional interaction and wonderful ambassadors for the beautiful mountain area of The Preserve.

Debbie and Sam were the perfect hosts for our visit. We were vacationing before our son's wedding in Asheville, NC and needed a lot of room for family and freinds. Debbie made the suggestion of a cabin close by the B&B so the kids and grandkids could stay there while we lounged in the tranquility and peacefullness of the B&B with another couple. The grounds around the B&B were amazing and they went out of there way to make my family feel welcome as well. They allowed my grandkids to visit with the Joshua sheep as well as the two goats, Bobby and Billy. They also had an amazing fire one evening for us all.....I would highly recommend visiting this B&B for some outdoor time, rest and relaxation but most of all for the hospitality! We will definitely be back soon!!
