Just spent our fifth Thanksgiving with Toni and Scott at Folkestone Inn. Each year just keeps getting better. The breakfast alone is worth going for. The peaceful country setting is so relaxing that I am usually asleep on the front porch at least once or twice during our stay. The rooms are cozy and I sleep like a baby. Toni and Scott are wonderful Innkeepers and have a wealth of local knowledge to share. Being there at Thanksgiving is an added bonus but waiting around for dinner is torture because it smells so wonderful throughout the entire Inn. Planning on visiting during the Spring while everything is blooming and to enjoy the train through the mountains. Might even hike the waterfalls!
My husband and I just spent 7 nights at the Folkestone Inn, using it as home base for exploring the Smoky Mountains NP. The location proved to be perfect for this, as it was away from the most congested areas of the park, but within a reasonable drive to everywhere we wanted to go. We stayed in the Wrens and Warblers room, and enjoyed its charming decor and balcony overlooking the beautiful grounds. Toni was so helpful, with her direct and candid suggestions regarding where to go and what to see. Scott's breakfasts were scrumptious and creative, fortifying us each morning for our busy days ahead. Highly recommend!
After reading really good reviews about the Folkestone Inn we booked a one week stay in early Nov. The location of the Folkestone Is perfect for hiking in the National Park, easy access to some of the best hiking trails. Also, close to the charming town of Bryson City. Toni and Scott are gracious hosts with Scott spoiling us each morning with the most delicious and filling breakfasts. Scott cures his own bacon and ham, also makes his own pork sausage. Their flock of chickens provided the eggs! The peaceful setting of the Folkestone and it's rustic charm made our stay that much more relaxing. Toiletries are provided with the exception of body lotion.
Wonderful historic farmhouse experience. Relaxing environment. It's very clear that a lot of care goes into their cooking. Breakfasts are fantastic and a great way to start the day. Location is perfect for getting that small town experience with Bryson City being only a few minutes away and a great launching point to enjoy all the Smoky Mountains have to offer. Hosts are extremely thoughtful and accommodating. We were invited to a special Thanksgiving event they had planned even though we booked at the last minute which was really awesome. Definitely recommend!
We came up to North Carolina mountains to see the leaves changing. We stayed at Folkestone Inn bed and breakfast and it was very nice! The location was out of the way but not remote. The inn itself was cozy and very quaint and well decorated. My wife and I stayed in one of the basement rooms which was nice the only negative would probably be taking a shower in the claw footed tub as it was hard to get into and out of. Breakfast was very good and was different each day. My wife really loved the fresh fruit cup with greek yogurt and granola on it. The eggs are fresh from their own chickens and the bacon was probably the best I have ever had. It would be nice however to eat breakfast earlier than 9 as that can put you out later for exploring. Overall it was a very nice and relaxing place to stay no television as well which was fine with us. Definitely recommend this place!…
Beautiful historic property, amazing breakfast, and wonderful welcoming owners. We couldn’t have chosen a better bed and breakfast for a romantic trip to the Smokies. They have a great selection of board games, a great fire pit (that we unfortunately were too tired after hiking to use), a selection of three different types of pillows, and a ton of spots to relax with a beer or glass of wine. The owners have great recommendations for restaurants, bars, hikes, and other activities. We will definitely be back!
Fabulous stay in a hidden gem yet just a couple of minutes from downtown Bryson City. We can’t wait to go back and stay again. We very much enjoyed everything about our stay and enjoyed chatting with other guests during breakfast. I must add that breakfast was OUTSTANDING !!!!!! We are hoping to book our next stay with friends as well.
Fantastic stay away from the city life, just what we needed. Great hosts and such a welcoming atmosphere. If you need a break from the chaos of the city, this is your retreat! And did I mention the breakfast? Amazing! And the hiking? Great trails footsteps from the Inn. We will be back, hoping to see the the leaves turn during a future stay.
Incredible place to stay, quiet away from town just a few minutes, no tv is a plus, owners were very attentive and knowledgeable of the area, highly recommend! The breakfast in the mornings are incredible!
We're an "older couple" (60 & 70) with lots of energy. The location was perfect to go kayaking and close to Deep Creek Nat'l Park for hiking. At the same time, we could unplug, lay back in this beautifully decorated in old country-living hotel. Can't say enough good things about Toni and Scott, our hosts. Warm and welcoming and both w culinary backgrounds so you know the breakfast's were outstanding. Don't miss out and try to stay here.
