We spent a long weekend here and it was just what we needed. While initially nervous about staying in a hotel due to the pandemic, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable in the most contact-free way possible. Everything was spotless, which allowed us to really relax and enjoy out time. The room was quite comfortable, and the cafe/common area provided everything we needed. Treetop cabanas were delightful. We hope to come back!

We loved our stay at Lakeview at Fontana. We had a one bedroom king suite which included a kitchen, living area, and gorgeous bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and I loved how dark and quiet our room was. There was no contact check in and out which was very easy. Staff were available by phone or text and responded quickly with any questions such as dining in the area. We also did the cabana soak which was amazing. The cabana area was clean and beautiful. The view from the bath was spectacular. The 90 minutes for the cabana sounds long but the time flew by. I wish I lived closer to do it again!

I didn't stay overnight, I just came for the treetop soaking cabana. And while I had my doubts that it would be worth the money, it completely was! I lucked out with the weather but they had a fan and a heater for less perfect days. The tub was big and the view was just amazing. The bath salts smelled lovely and I liked the turkish towels so much I bought one. I booked it for 7 PM so I could watch the sunset over the lake. Watching the sky turn from blue to red, orange, and pink from my hot bath was 10/10. I also didn't have to interact with a single person so it felt really covid-safe.

This should definitely not be called a boutique spa! It is a refurbished motor court that needs a lot more refurbishing! Our room had no decorations on the walls and it was unimpressive. No closets and the kitchen cabinets are for decoration only... you can't open them. You'd expect the bathroom to be nice for a spa experience, but it was old and dirty looking. The pool was closed when we went to check it out, but it had no view, also looked dingy and the area around it is overgrown. Breakfast was sugary pastries that looked like they came from a big box store. You can buy a Jimmy Dean frozen sandwich if you want a savory breakfast. Most of the pictures online are from the wifi cafe and the cabana soaking tubs. The soak was great... But you can book this without being an overnight guest. You are told that the cabana is very private, but you can see from my photos that one of them was directly up and across from our room. We could hear everything... We wore bathing suits.

We were really looking forward to this nn because of recommendation plus what we saw on the website. The location is great but the buildings need a tremendous amount of repair and updating. As soon as we walked in to our suite, we could smell the mold. In an attempt to get fresh air in, I struggled to push open the windows which were rusted shut. I was finally able to open a couple of windows as you can see from the photo. The electrical wiring was also of concern. See the numerous cords plugged in. The smoke alarm went on while I was boiling hot water. The portable electric heater which was near the kitchen had just been turned off. But it must have been the combination that set off the alarm. Once we removed the kettle and my husband fanned the air, the alarm stopped. I was surprised no one from the Inn came to investigate. There was also old electrical equipment. I realize it is costly to update infrastructure but I think basic repairs are needed. I did speak to another guest and she said they also had the mold smell. The housekeeper did do an excellent job of keeping the suite clean. The bed linens were fresh and the floors were very clean. The same with the kitchen equipment.

We did not use the soaking tubs. Perhaps wherever they were located was in better shape.

Lakeview at Fontana was a huge disappointment for our group.
When we arrived, we realized how close to the highway this room
was. Aside from the sound of non-stop traffic, the 2 bedroom suite was dirty, dark and dingy, had nothing on the walls, the kitchen was without a single drawer, no glasses (other than for wine), insufficient pots & pans (had to use a pot to bake cookies). There were bugs everywhere. We had to search for the cutlery which we found stacked on top of the microwave and the lighting in the living room was suitable for an interrogation room. We found the experience so unpleasant that we left a day early. Upon our return, we all realized we were covered in red welts from bed bugs. This was the polar opposite of what we expected. Not exactly a zen experience as touted on website.

My cousin and I spent over $400 for two soaking cabanas after reading the glowing reviews. Here is what you get for the inflated bucks: a totally self-serve bath in a tree house you have to hike to. That is disclosed. And it is a steep hike and took me longer than the five minutes they said it would take. The pretty pictures are misleading. Minimal products - although good. Dirty loungers. A really uncomfortable plain old bathtub, not even jetted. AND, contrary to the advertising photos, No champagne, sorry. And nobody around on the property to even ask. This place is like a ghost town. Even if you wanted to buy their spa products, there is nobody there! Really weird. The place is a bit dated and run down. I would not recommend it.

Pros: beautiful Mountain View’s
Soaking package great.
Cons: extremely dated. Furniture and buildings need a lot of work. Bed and pillows hard as a rock. Fleas and bugs on inside and outside windows. Fleas in room and in our $35 bag of freshly made bakery goodies we just purchased. Had to throw away. Be prepared to pay for every thing. Literally. It was like camping with a few amenities.
Our stay was for 3 nights. We left a day early.
We’d go back for the soaks. But not the stay.

What a beautiful place to go to get away from it all, and take a step back in time, for a wonderful family vacation. The rooms are beautiful, with all of the necessary accommodations. The staff couldn't be more accommodating and friendly! The grounds are beautiful and everything about the resort is like one with nature. The simplicity of the plants that decorate the resort, the nature hiking trails, the beautiful view, and especially the tree top soaks. This was a new experience for me and I wasn't sure what to expect, but it could not have been more relaxing and peaceful. We had the whole family with us and it was wonderful, I think it could be an equally if not more enjoyable experience as a couples weekend away! The nearby town of Bryson City could not be more charming. Decorated for Christmas, with families strolling the streets in their Christmas pajamas as they await the departure of the Polar Express Santa train ride. Local business and their owners are courteous and friendly like they have known you forever! Wonderful experience! Well done Lakeview at Fontana!!

Quiet but still convenient to popular outdoor activities and minutes from Bryson City. A very calming and casual vibe. Clean cottages and easy parking by your temporary residence here in the Smokey’s⛰️⛰️⛰️. The ‘Honor System’ this resort established - being able to access a fully stocked snack drink and refreshment area really grew on us so convenient so smart!

It depends on which room you’re in. Most are very close. It’s a steep but extremely short 3 minute walk from most rooms which are by the main parking area.

Bryson City is very casual and low key. The restaurant at Nantahala Outdoor Center is consistent, good food. The Cork and Bean in Bryson City is very good. Anthony's makes a good pizza! Just as information - everything is closed by 9pm! Enjoy your trip!
