I’ve rented pontoons from the great folks at the Almond Boat dock for years. Covid interfered for me with the last couple of years but not at the dock. They’ve upgraded to a beautiful new fleet of pontoons and they’re wonderful! Plus they have 100 hp Honda motors so they’re quiet and don’t guzzle fuel. The lake is fabulous and I always love going out far enough to see the expanse of the GSMNP which borders the lake. You can’t go wrong with a day on a pontoon on Fontana Lake. The family that owns this are wonderful and everyone is super friendly and helpful. Of note, the closest grocery is 10 miles away in Bryson City. If you want a restaurant you’ll either have to drive 5 miles to the Nantahala Outdoor Center or 10 miles to Bryson City. The point is, come to the marina prepared to spend the day on your boat.

Clean and very respectable cabins. The air conditioners were upgraded last year and it is a pleasant night of cool sleeping. Wonderful friendly staff who have always been helpful and more than willing to solve any issues. Great family environment just minutes from the Smokys

This was a great group of people at the lakeside! We rented a pontoon boat for 4 hours for the day and the staff were SO accommodating!!! They taught us how to drive the boat, added a tube on and even gave us a few noodles. All of the safety aspects such as life vests and fire extinguishers were made sure to be pointed out from the staff. They also were very new boats with no issues. We had a GREAT time on the lake thanks to the team here.

We contacted Almond on Sunday the 19th. Was told they had 1 boat left. We reserved a pontoon boat with our credit card to hold the boat only. Was told to bring cash for a refundable deposit of $100 on the day of the rental. So upon arrival on the morning of the 23rd, we entered the office and was told we had rented the "Over flow" boat which is a boat owned by the owners in-laws. But with the over flow boat, the owner only takes " cash only ". After stating we didn't have $350 in cash, only the $100 deposit. The owner received a phone call that someone canceled their reservation for the day. So he moved us to a brand new boat with a new Honda 100hp motor. We unload the truck, carry everything down to the #7 boat slip. Well 10 mins later the owner radioed down and told us to switch boat slip #12! Which was in a totally different direction. Well low and behold it is the "Over Flow " boat. So we went from a beautiful Avalon pontoon boat to one of the oldest rental boats they have. Certainly not worth $350. Pictures featured below. We did have a maximum of 10 people on the boat. With boat, motor, gas we got that old boat up to 15 mph. Barely pulled the tube with 2 small kids on it. You have to fill the tank back up with gas when returning. "Cash only "! The dock guy filled it up to where it was flowing down the side of the boat into the water. Wouldn't have been big deal, if the gas wasn't $4.25 @ GALLON. Somehow the "cash only" deal is hiding their income somehow. Can't really be with the gas, because you would have a receipt from the delivery of gas to the dock. My guess after the renters leave they shred the rental agreement waiver. I wouldn't have rented the "Over Flow " boat if I was told over the phone that is what was left. I would have GLADLY paid the $350 for the Avalon boat. Just the way the whole thing was handled is shady. When we complained about the boat switch before leaving the dock in the morning, we were told to take it up with the man in the office! They knew we were upset, and remembered us when we returned. No discount was offered other than we didn't charge you for the ski tube. A $20 value? Go to Alaraka if possible. We will not return here.

For the last few years, my husband and I have taken our fifth wheel to the rv park for a month each summer. We absolutely love this place! Because of other out of town trips planned this year, we couldn't be there a month this time so we decided to rent one of the 2 bedroom cabins for a week. Another great choice! The views of the lake and mountains are awesome and the cabin was quite comfortable for four adults, one teenager and one 8 year old. There was room for more family to comfortably stay if they could have gotten away. The staff feels like family and treats our granddaughter like she is one of their own. God willing, we will go back to this beautiful place again next year!

We rented a pontoon boat for a day on the lake with a family of 10. The boat was nearly new and in great condition. It ran well and was comfortable for everyone. We also rented an inflatable raft to pull behind the boat. My grandkids had a ball with that! The service was excellent -- really nice folks.

Just wrapped up a large family reunion in Bryson City and had a fabulous day on Fontana Lake! Jeff and the crew at Almond Boat Park were great to work with! The reservation process was simple - lots of questions asked and answered. The boats were fairly new and very well maintained. The location was convenient. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable about this beautiful area! Highly recommend!!

We have stayed in the cabins multiple times and they have been very clean upon each arrival. The cabins contain everything needed for a relaxing stay. The owners and other folks who work there are very friendly and helpful! Great folks!! The pontoons are brand new and super nice! Like, much nicer than the pontoon we have at home. I totally recommend staying at Almonds cabins and renting a pontoon for the day. You will have no regrets!

Called about renting a jon boat. The person said first come first serve. When I arrived found out that the cabin rentals folks can reserve the night before. That is fair but was not told that until I drove 45 minutes and was not able to rent one. I only got answers to questions I asked, nothing else was offered which was frustrating.
