We spent three nights at Calhoon House last week and found this to be one of the best places we have ever been. It has such great character, a rustic setting with all of the amenities that you want to make your visit to Bryson City and the Great Smoky Mountains a memorable trip. We loved the mountain views from the porch, and Bryson City has a great small-town atmosphere and of course, the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad. We can't wait to go back.
We had a great stay at the Calhoun inn and suites! The place was adorable and clean! We had a bedroom, bathroom, living room and kitchen. To our surprise we had milk, bagels, apple fritters, butter, creamer, orange juice, apple juice, cereal, cereal bars, pop corn that the inn keepers left for us to use!!! Ed stop to make sure we didn’t have any problems which we didn’t! It was close to downtown and to the GSMR that we could walk to everything and save gas since it’s so expensive right now! If your looking for a nice clean place to stay the Calhoun Inn and Suites is the place for you!!!
The room was well furnished and comfortable and quiet. My wife and I really enjoyed our anniversary weekend in Bryson City. The town was not too busy and we were able to walk to the dining and the train station.
We are a family of four and we stayed in the Tree House Suite -- PLENTY of room; great spot, extremely well maintained and very friendly innkeep! Has parking space & easy walk to town. They even left us snacks to make us feel welcome. Highly recommend.
We stayed in the Toy Room and really enjoyed out stay. Wonderfully appointed and just a few blocks away from the main drag. The long porch with rocking chairs resulted in meeting other couples in a relaxed setting. Enjoy.
The Inn was a perfect place for our Anniversary trip! The owners were so friendly and helpful. A lovely decorated room with an indian theme and very roomy and clean. The bed was so comfortable! The food provided for a continental was great and many goodies included. This was a perfect location for walking into the town of Bryson City. We definitely are looking forward to another visit soon!
Such a lovely property. Truly felt like home. Spacious comfortable well decorated suites. Fully stocked kitchens. Five minute walk to center of town. Gracious wonderful hosts. So nice at the end of the day to relax on the gorgeous porch and bird watch with a lovely view. Could not have asked for a better experience. Recommend 100%
My wife and I enjoyed the pleasure of making the Calhoun House our "home away from home" for a week in April, 2022. From making reservations to our actual stay, Ed and Shirley provided us a truly exceptional experience, Their warm hospitality, timely and thorough correspondence truly made our stay effortless and relaxing. Ed provided us with excellent recommendations for both the culinary delights of Bryson City, as well as for some exceptional hikes amongst the natural splendors of the surrounding area, such as "The Road to Nowhere" and the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest, a hike surely not to be missed. We highly recommend the Calhoun House as a unique, warm and comfortable place to stay, as the accommodations were truly exceptional.
Visit to North Carolina with friends. Stayed 2 nights at the Tree House Suite. Beautiful comfortable accommodations. Especially liked having 2 bedrooms each with private bath on opposite sides of the main living area. Wrap around deck facing downtown and the mountains with doors leading out from each bedroom as well as the living room. Stocked with everything needed for the stay including ample breakfast items! Has a washer/dryer in the unit so would be very handy if staying longer. Parking right outside the door but walking distance to downtown so no need to even move the car if desired. Quiet, private feel while staying here! Would definitely recommend!
We had Suite #2, the Orient. It was adorable with every amenity we could hope for. The kitchen was stocked with water and breakfast food. Both TV's had a DVD player, and there was a good selection of DVD's available in the room. The best thing was that it was decorated for Christmas. Please see my pictures and you'll know what I mean!
