The beautiful thing about The Pines Country Inn is that you are a short drive away from all the music in Brevard, the art and cultural activities in Ashville and a stones throw from the Pisgah Forest or DuPont Forest and some great hiking and waterfall viewing or a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Yet when you return to the Inn at the end of the day you’ll feel like you are miles away from civilization. We always stay in the Inn (built in 1883) but there are also cabins of all sizes for couples, families, or large groups. Breakfast at the Inn is a special treat with Donya’s crunchy pancakes and Dean’s biscuits, being our favorites. The floors creak, the furniture is antique, Donya and Dean make you feel like family and you can do everything or do nothing at all. The Pines is a great get away spot.

The place has potential and could be very charming, but nothing is maintained. The porch furniture is so dirty, you can’t possibly sit on it and relax. The beds are awful, and according to our large group we went with, it’s the same in every room in the property. You could see and feel every spring. It’s primitive and we totally expected and are okay with that part, but it’s just poorly maintained and poorly managed, especially for the amount they charged. Our bathroom was provided 4 wash rags for 2 nights, which we shared with 2 other rooms. There weren’t enough fans for the # of rooms, as the daytime temp was hot. Then night temp got down around 50, but only a thin blanket and sheet were on the beds. Luckily we brought sweatshirts and long pants. We were told that there would be breakfast served in the dining room each morning. The first morning it was a full breakfast, and the 2nd morning was just continental muffins and fruit, which would’ve been perfectly fine if that’s what we’d been told we’d have and also if we’d paid less. Lastly and most importantly, the owner just kind of makes up things and changes things as she sees convenient. Several in our group has their own experiences with the owner’s inconsistencies, but I’ll leave that for their own reviews if they so choose. I originally called and didn’t mention being part of a wedding and asked if they were pet friendly. I was told that they loved dogs and that every cabin on the property was pet friendly except the inn. Then when I explained that my dog was large and my one request was that we had enough space to set her crate up, she insisted on a particular room that’s attached to a porch, telling me I could crate her on the porch. After I told her that I couldn’t do that, she still insisted it would be fine. My friend who paid to have her wedding there called and asked if we could have the 1 room cabin, as she’d stayed there when searching for a last-min wedding venue after her previous venue fell through, and was familiar with that cabin and thought it would be best. The husband owner said sure no problem, and 10 mins later the wife contacted my friend back, and said that only 1 dog up to 35 lb was allowed in that cabin, and still insisted on this other small room. I still can’t quite figure out the motive but the room was up stairs (so we had to take the dog up and down stairs constantly) and had almost no floor space. We had to move furniture to get it to fit and when we did, we didn’t have enough space to get through the room to go to the restroom, thus really putting a damper on our stay. From what my husband can gather, the place was great under the previous owners but has since declined. Overall, it was really more-so a hostel with breakfast instead of a bed and breakfast. We paid $140/night plus fees, and it’s definitely more of a $60-$80 a night kind of place. While the old buildings are still charming, it’s sad to see it maintained and run the way it is.

We had family visiting with their 3 young boys and put them up at this lovely Country Inn. They had a comfortable room, the owners were very accommodating and friendly making them all feel very welcome. The Inn's setting is scenic and a very relaxed environment to be enjoyed. We joined our family the next morning for breakfast and had a delicious breakfast consisting of fresh pancakes, bacon, country grits and scrambled eggs - it was an amazing breakfast. The owner of the Inn and staff were very friendly, welcoming and accommodating!

I was done hiking looking glass trail and was trying to find somewhere close to crash and this was it. When I went in it felt like a great place to be. The lady greeted me and told me to treat it like home. they had a kitchen, water, snacks. I never stayed in this kind of place. Is pretty much an old quaint house with many bedrooms and they have more than one property. They also have an amazing breakfast. They even bake their own bread. OMG! A must if you are around

We truly enjoyed staying at this little gem and will definitely stay there again next time. It felt like being invited into a family’s home. The views were beautiful, the rooms comfortable, and everyone was so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delectable! Some of the best biscuits of the whole trip. We appreciate that it is a family friendly B&B. The rooms don’t all have TVs but my husband enjoyed watching TV in the common room and chatting with other guests. The whole experience was peaceful and relaxing (even with a toddler which is saying something).

We stayed 3 nights in a room (room #3 I think) with a double bed, a twin bed & a really large bathroom. The room was comfortable & spacious. We were able to comfortably fit our pack 'n play. I love that this place is family-oriented and not only accommodated but welcomed our toddler. This is a great place to stay in a wonderful area - very convenient to downtown Brevard & both Pisgah National Forest and Dupont State Forest. There's a cute farm with animals & several farm cats, and nice outdoor area with grills & fire-pits. Donya & staff were friendly & helpful! This place isn't your fancy B&B, but we found it to be comfortable & homey. I really loved all the of the shared common space - a great sitting room with a TV & movies, lots of nooks & crannies with books if you forgot your own, a nice screened from porch, and a really lovely dining area. Breakfast was AMAZING! My husband said it probably ruined him for all other breakfasts. It truly was good - made-to-order eggs, grits (so good and I don't even like grits usually), pancakes, homefries, sausage, bacon, apple butter, biscuits, coffees, teas, juices, etc. It is homecooked and so delicious. Breakfast is 9 am during the week/weekend (except 8:30 on Sundays) which was a little late for our toddler but nice that you don't have to get up early and rush to breakfast. I loved meeting the other guests each morning. We had an incredible stay & can't wait to come back!

Customer service is excellent. I was in town for a motorcycle rally , and when I initially emailed to book a room I was told it was full. After speaking on the phone to a wonderful lady , she actually let me book a room in a cabin that was undergoing some slight renovation. This was perfectly ok with me since I would be in the room for a short amount of time. Something like 11 pm to 6 am . When I arrived at the property I was greeted by the lovey lady . She walked me through everything and said I had the whole place to myself . It was like staying at my grandparents house , very nostalgic and old school which I loved . So I headed out for the day for a 250 mile dirtbike ride . When I returned that evening very very late. I was sooooo ready for a hot shower. That’s when my experience went a little south . NO HOT WATER ! Being mechanically inclined, I tried a few basic things first before I called the owner . He was up there in 5 minutes. He and I tried. To no avail to fix the heater but we simply gave up . Please understand that I was not like most people who would pitch a fit . I simply said it fine. I’m managed much worse . After saying goodbye. I heard a a knock on my door. The owner. Was offfering me. There shower in there private residence. This is truly great customer service. I declined of course. But thanked him for the offer . He also presented me with a FREE nights stay on my next visit. I was definitely not expecting that . I believe in treating people like you want to be treated, and so do they . Overall my experience was excellent . I will return

The Inn is made up of a few buildings in a great setting about 15 or so minutes from downtown Brevard. The setting is beautiful and the service is great. Donya and crew do a very good job of making you feel welcome. Breakfasts are awesome. Fruit, eggs, sausage, biscuits and sausage gravy and excellent locally roasted coffee. The internet connection is rough but chill in the mountains. I'll be back.

We’ve literally traveled all over The US. Stayed in hundreds of hotels. This is our first B&B. It won’t be our last. This is one of the most unique places we’ve ever stayed. The Pines Country Inn is stepping back in time. It’s old, creaky 100 plus year old facility. Run by an incredible family. Great breakfast every morning served with love and a bright smile. It’s like going back to grandmas country house. We stayed in grandpas cabin. Met another wonderful family from up north shared a nice glass of wine before retiring for the evening. Sitting on the veranda or on the cabins upper deck, listening to the country sounds. It’s old. Could probably use a facelift hear and there, but that would probably ruin the experience. We loved it and can’t wait to go back to this little slice of heaven. Highly recommend this little jewel.
