Am so glad I stumbled upon this enchanting place while searching for our annual vacation getaway. It so reminded me of 4-H camp where my husband and I met 40 years ago. We stayed in the Meadow Cabin, which is close to the entrance and the nearby River Cabin. Yes, there are cars that go in and out occasionally, but nothing to disturb the serenity of the place. Meadow Cabin is perfectly appointed, comfortable bed, plenty of dishes and utensils, pots & pans, towels and charm. The new picnic table and outdoor park like grill are nice…we ate outside every morning and evening overlooking the quiet meadow and listening to the French Broad River meander by. Folks, this isn’t a 5-star hotel. That’s not why you come here…it’s a place to relax, see the star-filled band of the Milky Way Galaxy on a pitch dark night, make wishes on two falling stars, be serenaded by every sort of night bug as you fall asleep, get lost amongst the canes of the giant bamboo forest, watch seven deer trot not 20 yards from where you’re eating so they can enjoy the meadow grasses for their dinner. The owners, Scott and Dionne were so amazing to talk with. They want folks to experience the beauty that drew them to this reserve. And, trust me, we did. There are well-marked trails everywhere on property, each with their own special “feeling.” You can canoe in the evening and watch fat Robins on the bank getting ready to head south or listen to the one Canadian Goose trumpet to his friends what a wonderful place Deerwoode Reserve is.…
In June 2021, we booked both the Coyote Lodge (four bedrooms with king, queen, and bunkbeds) and the Wolf Cabin (king size bed 20-25 feet from Coyote) for a long weekend of belated birthday and family reunion. We (12-14 souls ages 15-80) had a wonderful time. Yes, this was a girls summer camp from 1920-70s and then a boys camp from the 1970s-1991. Our 80 year old mom/grandmother was a camper in the 1950s. There are ample trails to hike on-site and easy access to Biltmore and Killer Bees Honey Tasting tours. We enjoyed the outdoor propane grill, robust firepit, and satellite TV in all the rooms. Each of the Coyote Lodge bedrooms has their own, dedicate full or 3/4 bathroom.
We stayed in the little cabin by the river. So charming & relaxing on the deck with the sound of the river. My husband is a fly fisherman & totally enjoyed fishing in the lake. The property is just beautifully maintained and Matt is totally welcoming. Conveniently located. We will be back!
My husband was a camper here in the 70s and 80s. What a treat to get to come back here. We stayed in the lodge, which was very clean and comfortable. We loved walking along the river and in the bamboo forest. It’s a short drive to town. A perfect mountain getaway!
Found this place at the last minute and we couldn't be happier! Beautiful property with several different lodging options. We stayed in the smallest cabin, right on the river and it was perfect for us. We met some of the friendliest farm animals ever and took a stroll through a bamboo forest! The owner was fantastic and we will definitely come back and stay again in one of the larger cabins and bring our kids with us!
This place is incredible!Once a summer camp, they kept all the trails, ponds, flora and fauna but took out most of the buildings, leaving a nature lovers paradise. Our cabin overlooked the river from the porch and had a fire-pit for the evening.Literally there are miles of hiking trails on the property even going through an enchanting bamboo forest. It's a great place for quiet reflection so it's not for everyone.I highly recommend this spot which is close to downtown but seems in another world.
Deerwoode lodge and cabins was wonderful. Feels like you're in the middle of nowhere but only a few minutes from downtown Brevard. My husband and I stayed in the little red River Cabin, and it was delightful. It was very quiet and relaxing. We had a fantastic time and Matt with Deerwoode was great! I would definitely recommend it.
We loved our stay at Deerwoode Lodge and Cabins. We stayed in one of the cabins on the property and it was just what we were looking for. Quiet, laid back with trails, bamboo forest, ponds to fish in and the French Broad river runs right through the property. Lot's of Breweries in the area to go to, and the town of Brevard is such a nice little mountain town. We had so much fun, we stayed an extra night
Awesome!!! So much to do and see at this special beautiful place. There are hiking trails with deer and turkeys running around. There are ponds filled with bass...fun fishing. There is a beautiful bamboo forest, a mountain to hike, friendly donkeys, goats, ducks, chickens you can pet and feed. We stayed in the Otter Cottage which was up on a hill, private with a huge deck overlooking pond and gorgeous scenery including wildlife , yes and even otters. The cottage was more like a mountain lodge having 2 fireplaces, spacious yet so cozy. Bill and Matt were most excellent hosts. They'lll tell you so many interesting stories of the history of this property and area. This is a family owned and operated lodging. They've taken great pride in this place and its quite obvious. We wish we could have stayed more than 3 nights for its just not enough time. .....Between hiking waterfalls( many )in Pisgah National Forest , kayaking the French Broad River , Lake Toxawee area etc. Etc. BEAUTIFUL!!! Eric and Tamara Peterson, Palm Beach Gardens Fl …
This property consists of cabins and a lodge minutes from the attractions of downtown Brevard and the music center. This large property maintains a country feeling. There are walking trails and plenty of fishing. It is a unique place because you feel like you are in the woods, but within a few minutes drive, all of the restaurants and shops are at your disposal. This property and the cabins are family run -- the owners are always on the property and are friendly and approachable. The grounds are immaculate as are the cabins. If you want to experience a traditional western NC mountain vacation, this is the place to go. The cabins are clean, comfortable and air-conditioned. TV channels were limited -- which was fine with us. Wifi could be accessed from a location by the lodge. This is a great place to cut the electronic cord and listen to the birds and bullfrogs. We hope to return soon.…
