We attempted to stay at this hotel but even my husband who has stayed at 'fishing' hotels for years said it was just too filthy to stay. We didn't even spend the night but chose to drive back home rather than risk catching whatever was crawling on those nasty beds or that disgusting bathroom.

So, it comes as a disadvantage that the night before this hotel stay, my wife and I had stayed at a Ritz-Carlton in Atlanta. However, we were booked at this hotel by a group that we were going to be working with the next day. Driving up to the hotel, it looks like an older but cute hotel - the... More

This is an older motel that has some charm but also starting to look run down. It was clean - or so we thought until we had checked out and a couple of hours down the road we realized that both my husband and I had bed bug bites. Room 122, the bed by the window. My husband really got... More

I was looking for an economical hotel to stay in for this past Memorial Day weekend (2008) for my husband and myself. After checking out some of the chain hotels and private ones in the area, I resorted to our old standby, High Country Inn on 105. We had stayed there in other recent years twice before. The front desk... More

I was chaperoning a youth trip to ski in NC, and I was dreading it after reading the reviews on here. I must admit it wasn't quite as bad as I was expecting, but I would not stay there voluntarily. I took my own sheets, pillow, towel, and shower shoes, and I was really glad. The bedspreads are SUPER ratty,... More

We were very worried about staying there after reading some of the reviews that have been posted. Our experience, however, was quite positive. It is true that the rooms are dated, however, our room was clean and we really liked the very helpful staff. The pool and hot tub were nice and we ate four meals in the sportsbar. Really... More

First they quoted one price, then almost doubled the price when we came to check in. The room had been cleaned, with the exception of the beer cans and cigarette butts under the comforter. Mold everywhere, wallpaper falling off the walls, etc. Be sure you have your tetanus shot before you walk up the outside stairs, they're a little rusty.... More

We just stayed in this "resort" this past weekend.(9-15-07) This had to be one of the worst travel experiences my wife and I have ever had.You can read these reviews and we experienced it all.The wet, moldy room now has us both sick! The sports bar served our party the worst meal you can imagine.(It took 11/2 hours to be served, our food... I had planned a short trip to Boone with my sister. We were taking our daughters to ride the Tweetsie Rail Road. Both our daughters were two. I had looked the place up online before calling and booking a room. From the pictures I thought it would be a nice place to stay. Once I arrived I knew it wasn't... More

I was quoted over the phone a price of approx $45 per night and when I arrived and checked in it was Almost $80 per room per night. (We needed 2 rooms) When I told the people at the desk that I was misinformed and told them what day and what time I got the quote they shrugged it off... More
